  1. Hello fellow flight simmers: I say , to each his own...we are lucky to have choices. Choices drives competition and innovation. In my opinion, a lot of the add-on developers decisions are driven by economics. They are not charities, they are are trying to make money and pay their employees. I don't think the margins are very high, given the 1000s of development and years of support hours. Here are some comments, questions I have based on my opinions/observations: - What is the current market share of FSX, P3D and XP? - If XP's market share is still smaller, does it make sense for developers to invest in the platform (maybe time will tell)? - For all those that claim the aerodynamics, ground friction, etc... if far superior in XP than the other platforms, my question to you is, how may 100s of hours do you have as a real pilot, in the same aicraft type that you fly in XP? I am not a professional pilot, so I cannot claim to be able detect all these nuances - Why did PMDG develop the DC-6 for XP, and then for FSX and P3D? Economics? - I am not a flight simlulator developer, but is it tougher to develop for XP than FSX or P3D, or vice versa? - What APIs are exposed by XP vs FSX/P3D for developers to tap in? The same? - Compare the add-on "eco system" between XP and FSX or P3D? Why hasn't PMDG and other excellent aicraft developers go full-in to XP? - Going full in into a new flight sim platform such as XP requires, "re-tooling," developer re-training, etc...does it make economic sense for a company such as PMDG? These are my personal opinions and observations. I have upgraded to P3D and I am happy with what I have...I have no compelling reason to migrate to another flight sim platform at the moment. However, I will continue to evaluate the platforms and corresponding add-ons and make a switch, if it makes sense. Thanks and regards to all. Happy Flying! Fabio
  2. Hello everyone: I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered before... I am experiencing a problem where while using ChasePlane VC cockpit views, buttons don't respond to clicks (left and/or right clicks). Recently, I have been primarily flying PMDG aircraft. I have v0.3.128 installed, running in FSX (legacy, non-Steam edition). 1. I have reset all cockpit views (PMDG 747 and 777), and all buttons respond correctly to clicks. I am setting the zoom via CP to 0.70 2. During next flight, some buttons don't respond at all. Using the mouse middle button to move the view around will get them to respond. Right clicking (to increment altitude, for example), will make the FSX "pop menu" show up (where one can select views, select mouse as yoke, etc...). 3. For example, in the PMDG 777, I have an "overhead panel" view. I am able to click all buttons normally, but when I get to the right part of the panel, to turn on the right pack, the button doesn't respond. 4. Add ons: ActiveSky, Steve’s DX10 Fixer Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Regards, Fabio van Roon
  3. Hi Darryl: I can confirm this issue. I have been flying her for years, and sometimes the auto throttle stops working. I have left flights unattended only to see an "overspeed" condition, since the auto throttle is not "respecting" the speed setting. I have turned off the autopilot, autothrottle switch, reconnected to no avail. The curious thing is that I have the "ignore" joytick inputs on, and I do have manual control of the engines. I just pretend that I had a failure, and handle the throttles manually for the rest of the flight.... :-) Regards, Fabio BTW, I start FSX with default Cessna aircraft with batteries off, etc...I then load the 747 "cold and dark." All fuel/payload loading is done via the PMDG utility. Also, there are no ECAM warnings. Regards, Fabio
  4. I have Acceleration installed and applied fix for this issue posted in the Level D site. Problem solved. My last purchase from CS was the 757. I am hesitant to buy another aircraft from them. Thanks, Fabio
  5. This was definitely introduced with the latest hotfix. Prior to that I could advance the X52 throttle to 40% N1, hit TO/GA and A/T would take over regardless of the physical position of the x52 throttle. Regards, Fabio van Roon
  6. Ryan, thanks for the information. Will apply during my next flight. Regards, Fabio van Roon
  7. Since applying HF4, I experienced issues during take off runs. I usually advance throttle quadrant to 3/4 power and then press AT hot spot. You can see the AT take over but half way down the runway the power starts coming back, maybe almost to the location of the physical position of the throttle quadrant. Recovered by pushing power all the way up via device. This is a new behavior. Regards, Fabio van Roon
  8. Boy I hope you never end up in tech support! Fabio van Roon
  9. Sorry, but nothing comes close to the Queen! Nothing like hand flying an approach with her, no auto throtles and a little weather. Regards to all, Fabio van Roon
  10. Johnny767:The word "Evolution" in the context of this product to me means that something has advanced and improved. Tried to fly the evolved A340-600...my Flight Director button is "greyed out" (cannot click to activate it) and basically the autopilot doesn't work anymore (worked on the pre-evolved version). Anyway, I don't have the energy to start listing everything else.Glad everything is working out for you.Fabio
  11. So what are the chances to get my money back? Can I dispute the credit card charge for something that doesn't work as advertised? There needs to be some accountability here. As consumers, we should start expecting for developers to release full working demos of their product (i.e. with a few days of an active license) in order to take it for a spin.I am tired of paying money to become a beta tester.Regards,Fabio
  12. You need to sign your name per policy. You also need to provide more information. I presume you are trying to fly the MD-11. Per manuals, in order to select manual heading, you need to "pull" the button, etc...I suggest you go through the tutorial.Fabio
  13. Hi Dan:Intel Core Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4GHzNVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX4 Gigs of memoryWindows XP, SP3FSX, SP2Active Sky XTraffic X (set to 0%) - it was happening before I bought itFSUIPC RegisteredLet me know if you need anything else.Regards,Fabio
  14. Hi Andrei:I have the same problem with the MD11. There is definitely a bug there that is hard to reproduce. I never had an issue on the 747. My current work around is to first load the panel (i.e. quick turn), and then go into options and toggle the pause at TOD flag. Meaning, go to options, turn it off, close options, open options and toggle it on again. This has solved it for me (but I consider it a work around).Thanks.Fabio
  15. Hi Peter:Disconnect your CH pedals and try another landing. See if that makes any difference. If it does, I would recommend the FSUIPC (as others already did).Thanks.Fabio
  16. What is your initial cruise altitude? What does the FMC indicate as your initial optimal and max cruise altitudes?Fabio van Roon
  17. Hi John:Thanks for the response. I am loading the MD-11 from my default situation (Cessna with avionics off). I'll try to experiment whether the starup situation has any impact.Fabio
  18. Hi Michael:I checked the ini file:[FMC]920FMS=1TDPause=1The only other thing I can think of would be that I always load the "Quick turn" panel state...otherwise everything checks out. What are the conditions for Pause at T/D (assuming the option is checked)? Is is a T/D waypoint only? Or should there be an arrival runway also selected? Many thanks.Fabio
  19. Hello everyone:First of all, a big thanks to PMDG for such a wonderful aircraft!I am having problems with "Pause at T/D" not working (not pausing). In the options, I have the Pause option checked. In the FMC, I ensure that I have a T/D waypoint, and also selected arrival runway. I have also cleared all "discontinuities" in the plan. What are the conditions that trigger the Pause? I am inserting the arrival information by selecting SID from the last waypoint before the destination airport entry. Is the Pause at T/D option stored in a config file so that I can make sure it is "on"?Thanks for any help you can provide.Regards,Fabio
  20. Hi:Would this also help with these texture problems? See attached image...Thanks.Fabio
  21. Hello everyone:Running into a similar issue. All textures were fine for my flights yesterday. When I load the aircraft this morning, she is missing textures. I am attaching 2 images. No changes were made to my system.I'll download the latest NVDIA Drivers. (GE Force 8800 GTX)Thanks.Fabio
  22. Pete:I am in the same boat. I never had the dsd_xml_tcas.dll and my frame rates fluctuate from 5-9 fps (I have the FPS locked to 20). I have tweaked all the sliders (traffic, scenery complexity, etc...) to no avail. I have also re-installed the package several times and still no luck. So at this moment, I am not sure as to what to do next. Thanks,Fabio
  23. David:Sounds like you maybe coming in too slow? Per the last posting, what are your weights and approach speed? Where are trying to land? Also, do you have any third party wheather tool? I have experienced a sudden sink a couple of times at ~200-300 feet, and I attribute it to sudden wind change performed by the tool I am using to get weather.Fabio.
  24. Hi everybody:1. Redo the Airbus family2. Embraer 170-1903. MD-80Thanks.Fabio
