1. I do not have SE, just FSX. But after installing Win 10 I am having problems keeping it running more than 5 minutes. then it freezes and I get the same message you do. I also installed the latest Nvidia driver for Win 10. Why would MS design an OS that will not work with its own programs (FSX)?
2. Downloaded and installed WIN10 four days ago, and have had no problems with it at all except with FSX. It would run fine -- but then anywhere from 10 seconds to 3 minutes it would freeze with a message similar to this: "MSFSX has stopped working." Duh! Yesterday I got a popup from NVIDIA offering a new windows 10 driver. I installed that and my woes seemed to be cured. I completed a 15 min VFR with no problems. But today I was going for about a 1 hour VFR when it crashed again about five minutes into the flight. MS assured me that I was compatible with WIN 10 before I downloaded it, but apparently that does not cover FSX. I do not for the life of me understand whey MS would offer an OS that would not work with their own products such as FSX!
3. I read this thread because my old machine went belly up and 'm getting a new system. I have used FS Global '09 and I now have FS Global ultimate for the America's and Europe. I do a lot of VFR in light twins and I love it but I wanted to check to see if this would be a good time to switch to genesis or some other. After reading all the posts here I'm sticking with Global and getting ultimate for Asia and Oceania as well.

For those who fly the world, especially at low altitude, and do not have a good mesh product, it makes a world of difference in your enjoyment of our hobby!

Thanks to all who contributed to the discussion and helped with my decision.
4. Accu-feel is cheap and it works. And it does not mess up Accu-sim on the B377 StratoCruiser.

Actually, arrogance on the part of developers may stoke their egos, but it gets them absolutely nowhere in the long run. The Mustang is a fine product, and one you can be proud of, but come on -- lets see that King Air!!
6. It just means my United Miles will take me to more places.

"crash effects - crashes cause engines to catch fire or a wing to snap off ect"With due respect, it seems that kids want a game arcade experience, and don't really care about flying. The very last thing in the world I want to do is crash. The thought of it makes me sick. I just flew A2A's magnificent and complex Boeing 377 Stratocruiser around the world without a single mishap. My grandson did like to crash into buildings when he was 5 though. :(

I've been too busy lately flying A2A'S wonderful 377 around the world and trying to recover some lost aircraft when my motherboard went belly up to notice what Microsoft has been up to. I guess from reading this thread, they have decided to eliminate the Aces team. I don't know if that means they are getting away from the concept of serious flight simulation for adults and going totally the 'game' route for teeny-boppers or what. I only hope that whatever happens, there will be room for someone to develop great airplanes like Aeroworx wonderful FS9 King Air and the 377 Statocrusier for FSX and the PMDG jets. No unrealistic kiddy arcade air races please! That should be seperate and apart from serious simulation

I was told that as of yesterday, Microsoft is no longer marketing XP. In a few years, they will no longer support it.Richard

Sargeski,Thanks for your advice. It is greatly appreciated.Richard
11. I am finally going to take the big leap and upgrade to FSX after more than 3,000 hours on FS9. Of course I am going to a new and better machine at the same time. I do want to switch to Vista, and was thinking of vista Home Premium. I have noticed from lurking a bit here recently that many of you have Vista and many have XP. My question is: Will Vista slow me down too much, or should I go with it? My new machine will haveCore 2 duo, 3Ghz; 4GB DDR2 800 SDRAM500GB SATA 7200RPM HDNvidia GForce 8800 GTX Video cardCH USB Yoke and ruddersAdvice appreciated!Richard
12. I'm sorry Chris, I mislead you, the Aeroworx Super King Air 200 version 3 is being developed for FSX, but apparently has not been released yet.http://www.aeroworx.com/smf/index.php?topic=1964.0Richard
13. Chris, I have not yet taken the FSX plunge, because I'm afraid I have to buy a new computer first. One great Piston light twin I have for FS9 is the Flight One Piper 421 Golden Eagle, but I don't know if flight one has upgraded it for FSX yet. If you are not totally married to the idea of a piston twin, the Aeroworks Super King Air is a fantastic detailed realistic airplane, and I understand it is now available for FSX. It does close to 300kts, is pressurized and has considerable range. Have flown it around the world 3 times now. Of the 60 Sim aircraft I have it is probably my favorite.I agree with you on the SF 260. I'm not familiar with the DO27 and I too was disappointed in the dreamfleet Baron. So what do you think? Should I bite the bullet, take the plunge and get a new machine and go FSX?Richard StacyDenver ColoradoPS I Have never been to Perth,(except on the sim) but have been to the East coast, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney. We are coming back one of these days!
14. >Richard - >>I am going to be in Littleton for about 6 weeks starting the>last couple weeks of July and the month of August. If you would like to get together for coffey or a cold>one let me know. It would be fun to meet with another simmer>as I can't find anyone around here who's even interested.>>BruceBruce, that IS remarkable! We live in Grant Ranch. By all means lets do get together for coffee and to chat about simming. We'll be here most of the summer except for a few days in August when we have to go to a wedding in Wahington D.C. Email me at [email protected] and we'll set it up to get together. :-) Richard
15. Bill, I was in the private practice for 5 years, an assistant Attorney general for Wyoming, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and then Was Appointed United States Attorney for Wyoming by President Reagan. I held that job for 13 years. Most of my friends were cops. After that, I left Law enforcement and went to California for five years as a United States Administrative Law Judge doing medical disability cases for Socical Security in San Jose. We then retired and moved to Denver to be close to Grandkids. I like the King Air, the Lear, and the 737. Add on, I like the MAAM B-25, The wings of Power B-24, B-17, and B-29 and their new P-51 is great. I also like to fly a couple of the Abacus bush planes. I did fly the Lockheed Vega around the world without mishap once. I think it took about 150 hours, and a month of my time but it was fun (thank God for the primitive autopilot).Richard
