May 12, 201016 yr EDIT: Didn't know a topic was already started on this but since I already posted/uploaded might as well get some more feedback, here's mine:I didn't like losing Northwest to an over bloated modified Delta now Continental/United are trying to merge. There's something to be said about having these too big to fail monstrosities forming. I hope this time around this doesn't go through and another way is found for the airlines to manage costs... This new proposed union wants to absorb USAirways as well after their merger deals are over. It's almost like an ego somewhere can't deal with what Delta has done... Concerning the world of FS, WOAI hasn't caught up with the last merge (the new Delta) now we have another major issue on the horizon (airports will need to be updated as well).Looking at this pic and others, this new livery is just wrong to say the least. United's logo works for them and Continental's logo is great on their end. Merging them looks pathetic and shows if they can't get this right (the look of the new airline) what else could possibly be off with this who debacle? If we are to big we will survive...
June 6, 201015 yr I think it will be good for the Continental Name For them to merge it will beat DELTA Air Lines http://forums1.avsim.net/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

June 7, 201015 yr I think the image Dillion posted kind of says it all. Just the look on the faces of those two men; one has the look of a deer in the headlights, happy to be led by the herd and the other seems to portray the look of a proud new father of a once again inflated, bonus and retirement package. The concept that bigger is better as it applies to large business is basically a myth they happily buy into. The benefits to 'them' seem to be nothing short of acquiring a size, thereby power, to make their own rules and set prices as they see fit, without regard to the consumer. Simply to make management and elite shareholders wealthier. As recent history points out: If they fail, when they are to big to fail, the government(s) (read taxpayers) get the bills to pay. They, the to big to fail, get the free elevator ride and we get the shaft. My impulse to rant is subsiding so that is enough!Regards,Mel
June 7, 201015 yr I can't get over the paint on that model. Seeing "United" on a Continental scheme looks ghostly to me. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
June 9, 201015 yr Author looks 'ghostly' to me.It looks 'ghastly' to me, just terrible... Create something new not piecemealed like what's pictured here. An airline pilot stated they could have at least put 'Airlines' after 'United', maybe that might have softened the blow a little. Both airlines had nice liveries for their perspective airlines, it would have been nice to see some real creative work done combining the two. All in all I hated to see Northwest go now this. Less competition means more BS for the customers to deal with. June 9, 201015 yr Moderator Although I am not a fan, employee, or have any type of allegiance to any specific airline, I am surprised that you guys are so disappointed in the paint scheme. Frankly, I think the new paint scheme looks fine and as long as they can get me from point A to point B at a reasonable price and on time I could care less about what the paint job looks like. I'll say this as well, if I was a shareholder I would rather they save the money on repainting the a/c and create more share holder value. I dont know how much it costs to paint an airliner, but I would imagine it is a lot.I'm more concerned about how I am going to replace all my AI paints in UT2 to reflect the merger. From a name recognition standpoint it does have it's benefits. People loyal to Continental will still see it as the same and still give them the business, where as in the case of the Delta-Northwest merger people who are loyal to Northwest, may forget, or may not know after a while they are now part of Delta, since all vestiges of the Northwest name and logo are gone and may go elsewhere as a result. Especially if they didn't like the old Delta for some reason. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
June 17, 201015 yr Will Continental and United Virtual merge as well? "It goes without saying that when survival is threatened, struggles erupt between peoples, and unfortunate wars between nations result." -HIDEKI TOJO
