1. I do not have SE, just FSX. But after installing Win 10 I am having problems keeping it running more than 5 minutes. then it freezes and I get the same message you do. I also installed the latest Nvidia driver for Win 10. Why would MS design an OS that will not work with its own programs (FSX)?
2. Downloaded and installed WIN10 four days ago, and have had no problems with it at all except with FSX. It would run fine -- but then anywhere from 10 seconds to 3 minutes it would freeze with a message similar to this: "MSFSX has stopped working." Duh! Yesterday I got a popup from NVIDIA offering a new windows 10 driver. I installed that and my woes seemed to be cured. I completed a 15 min VFR with no problems. But today I was going for about a 1 hour VFR when it crashed again about five minutes into the flight. MS assured me that I was compatible with WIN 10 before I downloaded it, but apparently that does not cover FSX. I do not for the life of me understand whey MS would offer an OS that would not work with their own products such as FSX!
3. I read this thread because my old machine went belly up and 'm getting a new system. I have used FS Global '09 and I now have FS Global ultimate for the America's and Europe. I do a lot of VFR in light twins and I love it but I wanted to check to see if this would be a good time to switch to genesis or some other. After reading all the posts here I'm sticking with Global and getting ultimate for Asia and Oceania as well.

For those who fly the world, especially at low altitude, and do not have a good mesh product, it makes a world of difference in your enjoyment of our hobby!

Thanks to all who contributed to the discussion and helped with my decision.
4. Accu-feel is cheap and it works. And it does not mess up Accu-sim on the B377 StratoCruiser.

Actually, arrogance on the part of developers may stoke their egos, but it gets them absolutely nowhere in the long run. The Mustang is a fine product, and one you can be proud of, but come on -- lets see that King Air!!
6. It just means my United Miles will take me to more places.

"crash effects - crashes cause engines to catch fire or a wing to snap off ect"With due respect, it seems that kids want a game arcade experience, and don't really care about flying. The very last thing in the world I want to do is crash. The thought of it makes me sick. I just flew A2A's magnificent and complex Boeing 377 Stratocruiser around the world without a single mishap. My grandson did like to crash into buildings when he was 5 though. :(

I've been too busy lately flying A2A'S wonderful 377 around the world and trying to recover some lost aircraft when my motherboard went belly up to notice what Microsoft has been up to. I guess from reading this thread, they have decided to eliminate the Aces team. I don't know if that means they are getting away from the concept of serious flight simulation for adults and going totally the 'game' route for teeny-boppers or what. I only hope that whatever happens, there will be room for someone to develop great airplanes like Aeroworx wonderful FS9 King Air and the 377 Statocrusier for FSX and the PMDG jets. No unrealistic kiddy arcade air races please! That should be seperate and apart from serious simulation

I was told that as of yesterday, Microsoft is no longer marketing XP. In a few years, they will no longer support it.Richard

Sargeski,Thanks for your advice. It is greatly appreciated.Richard
11. I am finally going to take the big leap and upgrade to FSX after more than 3,000 hours on FS9. Of course I am going to a new and better machine at the same time. I do want to switch to Vista, and was thinking of vista Home Premium. I have noticed from lurking a bit here recently that many of you have Vista and many have XP. My question is: Will Vista slow me down too much, or should I go with it? My new machine will haveCore 2 duo, 3Ghz; 4GB DDR2 800 SDRAM500GB SATA 7200RPM HDNvidia GForce 8800 GTX Video cardCH USB Yoke and ruddersAdvice appreciated!Richard
12. I'm sorry Chris, I mislead you, the Aeroworx Super King Air 200 version 3 is being developed for FSX, but apparently has not been released yet.http://www.aeroworx.com/smf/index.php?topic=1964.0Richard
13. Chris, I have not yet taken the FSX plunge, because I'm afraid I have to buy a new computer first. One great Piston light twin I have for FS9 is the Flight One Piper 421 Golden Eagle, but I don't know if flight one has upgraded it for FSX yet. If you are not totally married to the idea of a piston twin, the Aeroworks Super King Air is a fantastic detailed realistic airplane, and I understand it is now available for FSX. It does close to 300kts, is pressurized and has considerable range. Have flown it around the world 3 times now. Of the 60 Sim aircraft I have it is probably my favorite.I agree with you on the SF 260. I'm not familiar with the DO27 and I too was disappointed in the dreamfleet Baron. So what do you think? Should I bite the bullet, take the plunge and get a new machine and go FSX?Richard StacyDenver ColoradoPS I Have never been to Perth,(except on the sim) but have been to the East coast, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney. We are coming back one of these days!
14. >Richard - >>I am going to be in Littleton for about 6 weeks starting the>last couple weeks of July and the month of August. By all means lets do get together for coffee and to chat about simming. We'll be here most of the summer except for a few days in August when we have to go to a wedding in Wahington D.C. Email me at [email protected] and we'll set it up to get together. :-) Richard
15. Bill, I was in the private practice for 5 years, an assistant Attorney general for Wyoming, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and then Was Appointed United States Attorney for Wyoming by President Reagan. I held that job for 13 years. Most of my friends were cops. After that, I left Law enforcement and went to California for five years as a United States Administrative Law Judge doing medical disability cases for Socical Security in San Jose. We then retired and moved to Denver to be close to Grandkids. I like the King Air, the Lear, and the 737. Add on, I like the MAAM B-25, The wings of Power B-24, B-17, and B-29 and their new P-51 is great. I also like to fly a couple of the Abacus bush planes. I did fly the Lockheed Vega around the world without mishap once. I think it took about 150 hours, and a month of my time but it was fun (thank God for the primitive autopilot).Richard
16. Bill, my own real airplane career was very short. I only soloed a 172, a Piper Colt and the Bonanza. Then my flight instructor was hunting Coyotes in a Super Cub and flew up a box canyon. He had a very "hard landing" that fused both his ankles. Next my Dad died suddenly of a very aggressive cancer and we had to sell the Bonanza. After that, a 35 year legal career interfered. But I do love my Simulator! How else could I fly a B-24 or a P-51 around the world? There was the unfortunate incident last year when my MAAM B-25 ran a little short of fuel about 30 miles Southwest of Guam. It's probably just as well they don't let me play with real ones. Richard
17. I use KAPA Centinial as my home simming airport too, since I live just a few miles west of there. My real flying days were interupted by a 35 year career in the law, and now I'm retired and can't afford to fly real ones. I have a lot of fun with my simulated aircraft. I only wish I was a better computer technician. But in any event I could never fly a B-24, or a P-51 around the world for real...or a triple 7 or....Richard
18. Sorry, or of course the Bonanza.Richard
19. That's the right idea. Get out of your backyard. I have flown around the world that way about 30 times, including once in the Lockheed Vega. You get a lot of auto pilot time, but its fun. A great way for you in the Netherlands to get started would be from home to Sion Switz. to Nice France and back. Great 3 day trip and great scenery! Fly to Geneva then up the valley to Sion. You'll be in Kathmandu before you know it! Take the Barron or the King Air and fly VOR to VOR.Richard
20. Jim, Thanks , I will try all of that.Richard
21. Jim, thanks a million for your help. I tried it and finally got it done. It didn't work but that may be because I was back to the "Standard Pilot Log" Having deleted my other logbook previously. Maybe now that I know how to manipulate the file I can add a new logbook with my name on it and go from there. All the file was, was "LOG_FILE= and about 300 zeros." I changed it to "LOG_FILE=STANDARD PILOT LOG" but there was no change in the problem, I still have to log manually. But thanks anyway. BTW, I got a kick out of your website. (I'm an old wyoming boy.)Thanks again.Richard
22. >Thank you for your kind words regarding my post.>>Mixture was set on the rich side of the peak egt setting. You>could run slightly on the lean side, but there was a danger of>engine damage if you were too far on the lean side (piston>damage). So, those who wanted the engine to last, would stay>on the rich side of the peak.>>Glad to help,>>Bill Worth Bill, I enjoyed reading your post re the proper way to fly a bonanza very much. What memories! I am currently simming the DF A36 and have Simmed the Carenado V 35 in the past. Back in the early 60's I soloed my dad's old vintage 1957 Bonanza and flew all over the U.S. with him in it. My recolection is that our leaning procedure was pretty simple. You leaned until the engine started to run a little rough, then you riched it back to where it ran very smooth and about a half a turn past that (so we were running rich of peak). The insturmentation was nowhere near as precise as it is on modern aircraft. Years later, my law partner had a straight-tail Bonanza and he leaned very carefully by the egt exactly as you inicated in your response. Incidentally, our home airport was in wyoming so we did a lot of flying at 10 to 12,000' so we seldom saw 23" of mercury. But we frequently made 180 to 200kts. The Bonanza truly was the Caddy of single engined airplanes. It was a great deal more fun to fly than a 182. I am currently flying the DF A36 from Centennial, Denver to Santiago Chile, by way of the Carribean. Now if I could only get fs 9 to start logging my flights again!Richard

Domingos, I have exactly the same problem, and posted about it today. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling FS9 to no avail, and creating new logbooks. The flight sim is fine as always, but it just will not allow me to log a flight wxcept manually. Recently the problem has escalated, now sometimes when I exit, FS9 will not save the previous flight. If you discover a cure for your problem please let me know and I will do the same! Unfortunately I am not a computer whiz.Richard
24. I need help from someone who understands computers and FS9 far better than I do. I have been simming for years and have several thousand hours under my belt. As far as the actual fying goes, I have no problem at all. My problem is that FS9 will no longer allow me to log flights other than manually after every flight. Of course it used to be, that when I would exit, the logbook would open, I would enter the departure airport and the place I ended up, FS9 would enter the time, day and night and log the flight. Now I have to go to options before exiting, open logbook and enter everything manually, including the time. To add insult to injury, now frequently upon exit, FS9 will not save the previous flight. This has all taken place over a period of several months. I assume that some third party software or some freeware has caused the problem. I have uninstalled FS9 and reinstalled it several times both with and without saving my settings (and logged flights) -- to no avail. Since I spend about $20 or $30 a month on aircraft anyway I even bought a new copy of FS9, thinking maybe that would resolve the issue. No such luck.I'm sure that if I were a computer guru like many who use these boards I could solve this problem quickly, but unfortunatly, like many others, I am not.I would appreciate help from anyone willing to give it.Thanks,Richard
25. Just press control and E and they will start one at a time. Play with it a while till it starts depending on the airplane. If its multi engine you may have to hold E then hit 1,2 in rapid succession to get your joystick throttle to sycronize both engines.Richard
