  1. That's why I like Radar Contact (you're a bit of a dummy if you don't own it! :D) you can hand the coms over to the co-pilot, just like in real life and he'll handle it all for you over a long flight, or at any stage of flight for that matter, a great help if you're trying to fly the missed approach by hand and don't want to hunt for keyboard buttons.
  2. Hahahaha you got ripped BIG time. I can literally drive 5 minutes and get to Memory Express and get one for $569. But "ooooooo" you had one a few hours before any other uber geek on your block. The card is a waste of time for FSX, and if you're gonna spend that kind of money, why not go all out instead of getting second best?http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX20293(ME).aspx
  3. Fair enough, but my main concern is why I was not vectored around for another approach, or asked what I wanted to do, or anything? I would have just kept right on flying off into nowhere forever.
  4. So last night on the way into TNCM from KMIA, I was told to go around at around 500'. (THis was for rwy 9.) So, I'm told climb and maintain 4000, when able turn left heading 095*. I do both, and hold both, and don't hear from ATC. The copilot is on the comms, but there's no options to choose except for Req. IAP Approach, even though I wan a visual for rwy 9. SO I click on that anyway, and then hit "none" then choose RWY 9. It requests (and I am granted) the "full approach" for rwy 9. I circle back around, and come into land again when I'm told once again to go around. Same procedure repeats itself. Finally, on the 3rd attempt, I don't get landing clearance or even a "contact tower" nothing. So i land anyway (already cutting into my reserves) and slowing past 80kts I get "go around." I tell him to pound sand and bring the plane to a stop as a baron goes whizzing over my head in the other direction. I thought RC was supposed to hold all other traffic until I was down?Anyways, even though winds were calm, rwy 27 was active. Even before I launched RC, I selected runway 9 in the "controller info" screen. What's goin on here?
  5. I can't wait for this. I hate the plateau airport issue!
  6. Disable "aircraft casts ground shadows" and it fixes it.
  7. No, Vista doesn't allow you liek XP does. What I kinda did was make my headset my primary, sicne FSX SP2 lets you pick seperate sound sources. Then I made all my "primary" fsx sounds come through the speakers. Worked okay for some stuff, but then all my Level D clicks, etc came through the default headset. So I just put it back to everythign coming out of the speakers. For RC V5 I'd be inclined to put in the options a sound output selection.
  8. Still trying to figure out how to set the RC audio to come from my headset only. Tried this: http://kevingc.blogspot.com/2007/03/window...ixer-trick.htmlBut it didn't stick. Can you walk me through how to do it in Vista? Also, I thought if I entered my flight number as 10 86 it would read "ten eighty six" but it still says "one zero eight six." what's up with that?
  9. Figured out the cause and solution. What was happening, is I'd bring up the GPS window , and as soon as I did that I couldn't select any RC options. Checked to see if any of the RC keys were mapped to the GPS, and nope. So, I thought okay, the "focus" is not on the RC window, so I clicked on it, and still nothing. I clicked on the main panel however, and RC worked well. It seems that RC needs to have Flightsim's "focus" on the main panel to accept commands. JD, can you try this out and verify that it's not just me having the problem? I definitly think it would make a worthwhile addition to the FAQ.
  10. I'll try that right away. And no I don't get that message regarding the minimum requirements.
  11. Just got RC4.3 working this evening, read through ALL the manuals and ALL the tutorials, so I figured I was well versed in the RC procedures. Seems straightforward enough.First off, I'm running FSX SP2 and Vista 64bit.To start, I could not import a FSX flightplan, because I was missing a DLL file. Checked the FAQ, downloaded the file, and I was golden. Fired up FSX and imported my plan into RC and it worked. In FSX, I disabled all the ATC options that I was supposed to. Now, when pressing some of the number keys to select my appropreate choices, they would only work about half the time. So I figure, okay, I'll change them in case of conflict. So I make it instead of pressing 1, 2, 3, etc that it's Crtl+1, Ctrl+2, etc. Fired up FSX and RC again, and it worked much better, until I got airborne. Then turned enroute and intercepted my track as requested, then when I went to "notam on course" to tell ATC I was on course, I couldn't push anything. Keyboard still worked. Tried a bunch of keys, etc but it's as though RC stoped "listening" for my presses. Alt tabbed out, and RC was still running fine, but just not picking up on my key presses or anything.Secondly, I had my stock ATC routed through my headset on my second sound card, and everything else on my surround speakers. Can I do that again? Now RC and main sounds come on my speakers and I don't like that.Other than that, RC seems sweet! I just need to get so that it accepts commands for more than 10 minutes!Any help anyone can provide is appreciated.Nick
  12. >Hello>I am also curious why someone would buy an addon from a>developer, fly it once decide they did not like it then go>back and buy the developers entire catalogue.Simply too many others that sparked my interest instead! :D
  13. I was in a 73G Level D before... Swear to god I was in the real thing! :D
  14. I have SP2 (read: NOT Acceleration) and a bunch of addons and have 0 problems whatsoever.
  15. Scobie,I kind of agree, but then I don't. Basically what I meant is that it's not worthwhile for software developers or music labels to prosecute someone. If they do sue you for say, $100,000 which to a music label is peanuts, you simply can't pay it. You MIGHT come up with a few thousand, but you can just declare bankruptcy and serve a few months in jail. Big whoop.
  16. Ya, but who's gonna catch them? No one, that's who... Software piracy is largely ignored, and for good reason. There's really no grounds to prosecute anyone without insane costs and burdon on the legal system. If you could steal a $100 hoodie, and not get caught, wouldn't you? If you have morals, you won't...
  17. It's kind of hit and miss. Even with default ATC and UT2007 I still had that happening. It's gay, I know. Just try and go "with the flow" see what other AI is doing, and follow them like we do in the real world.
  18. I agree. I too have butterfingers, and on a long flight it can be cumbersome.
  19. Kudos to Lou for working on porting their stuff into FSX!That being said, the Flight1 wrapper has one major flaw. Once you purchase an addon, and it's "unwrapped" (the EXE is extracted) that's it. That EXE can be distributed freely, and I've seen plenty on torrent sites, et al. Once again, I don't download them, all my FS addons were obtained legally. So basically, if say 5 friends wanted a peticular Flight1 product, they pay once, have it unwrapped, and burn the extracted file from there and now everyone has it. Makes a $50 addon only cost $10 per person, so that may be very attractive to some people. I even know of people selling the addon for $20 instead of $40 that they paid, and basically just selling a burnt copy of the .exe installer, which still provides a fully functional addon. This in my opinion is where the weakness of the Flight1 wrapper lies. The .exe itself needs to be protected. If I were a pirate, I'd be laughing, but as someone who spends hard earned cash on addons, it's not fair to me...
  20. I have both, flown them each once then never touched them again. Actually I have all Eaglesoft's stuff lol. From what I remember the CJ is better.
  21. GEX for sure. Click here to see some screens I took in Hawaii:http://www.fsliners.net/open/0002445/Lhttp://www.fsliners.net/open/0002446/Lhttp://www.fsliners.net/open/0002447/L
  22. Just buy it. You will NOT be dissapointed. You can't jsut jump in and fly though, expect to spend more than a few hours reading up before getting off the ground.
  23. Try turning numlock on, and use the numpad, does it change views? With the numlock off, do 1 and 3 move the rudder? Report back.
