  1. I don't own the LevelD but I think you're right by saying it should install repaints automatically. I've seen you download the repaints as a single file and then unpack it with the repaint manager, you then use the repaint manager to install it. I'm pretty sure it can also do the reverse and pack up your repaint ready for upload, this YouTube video may be of use.Repaints for most other aircraft however will require manual installation so its always good knowing how to do it manually :(
  2. Theres also mine which may be of some use: The Complete Repaint Walkthrough
  3. Hi Bob :( Your method is actually not too different to what I've done in the past. When I've made a paint kit I have the alpha channel in a layer folder at the top but deactivated. When you want the alpha channel you just activate the layer folder and save it as a bmp, you can then simply import it in to DXTBmp. By doing it this way it makes it easy to make adjustments to a particular paint schemes alpha channel :(
  4. Tell me about it! :(If the fuselage is split up the developer really should have made a master if they wanted it painted by the masses.. free publicity after all!I had a check on the Wilco website and I couldn't see anything jumping out about a master texture.. so I bodged one together for you for the A320 :( You can get it here, I used a free uploader.. usually pretty good.Basically its the 3 psds on one psd, correctly lined up. I can't however test it so I can't confirm whether the fuselage sections will line up properly on the actual model.. worth a go though! I'd deactivate the wire mesh from each of the 3 layer folders then add a new layer folder to use for your paint scheme.Complete your paint scheme and then drag the paint scheme layer folder over to the individual section pdfs, I'd reactivate the wire mesh and use it as a guide when aligning them... Voil
  5. Usually if the textures are split across a number of bmps the developers will have created a "master" template which will be the entire fuselage. You would then paint the entire livery on this master and drag it over on to the individual sections. You might want to check to make sure this doesn't exist..If it doesn't then it'd probably be a good idea to make one! :(
  6. It's still a useful program to have, even if it doesn't quite manage to do what it says on the tin!
  7. Hi Jon :( It sounds to me like the converting process in FSRepaint is corrupting your bmps. I only use FSRepaint for viewing the model without going in to flight sim, a good piece of software used to convert bmps is DXTBmp.Head on over to the DXTBmp website for more info. Basically open the bmp up in this program, add the alpha channel (for reflections in FS9) and then do File - Save As - Extended Bmp, pick DXT3 as the file type and hit Save.A mini tutorial on how to do the alpha channel can be found on my website: Alpha channelsHopefully it's of some use, feel free to shoot if you have any more problems :(
  8. You're correct in saying the model (.mdl) file controls where the texture is placed on the physical 3D model.I've had a look and nothing looks unusual, are you sure you're replacing it with an identical bmp (for the 300 series)?
  9. So should both be facing left, just on the "left side" you're trying to get the registration reversed?Morgan Dainow
  10. In the situation you describe I usually added a white layer over the top and reduced its opacity, not ideal but it usually got the desired result :( Morgan Dainow
  11. It sounds like you need to make a 'selection' (is it possible in GIMP?) of the section and perform the transform. Alternatively you could have the fuselage you want to flip on a separate layer.. thats usually the best way. Please feel free to post a picture so we can have a look at it.. I doubt theres any issue regarding POSKY's rules, it would seem pretty petty if there was.. :( Morgan Dainow
  12. I just had a quick look at one of them (DC-8).It appears you just use the master psd (the one with the whole fuselage on it - possibly named 'fullbody') and basically drag it over to the psd with the cut up fuselage. Then simply line it up with the areas. If its any different could you post a picture of the problem you're having?
  13. Am I correct in guessing you're able to paint on to the bmps but not able to get them to display in Flight Sim?If thats the case then make sure you're converting the bmps (with DXTBmp) for Flight Sim use.If that isn't the problem could you post a screenshot of the problem?
  14. I'd advise going for the most recent version of Photoshop you can get.Theres a fairly good free alternative called GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) if you're not going to be painting too much.
  15. It can be a real nightmare to get around texture mapping problems like this. As Leen says, the only real way is to distort the bmp in the opposite way.Occasionaly I've come across ones in the past where I've either had to change the paint scheme to fit around the mapping problems.. or scrap the scheme all together.
  16. Could you post a picture so we can see exactly what you're describing?I sounds to me like the bmp is being distorted as you progress up the tail. The controlling file would be the model (.mdl).. unfortunately the only people who can edit those are the developers.
  17. Is the aircraft turning grey in flight sim or are the bmps grey when you edit them? The following tutorials may be of some use:Alpha channels (reflections):Converting bmps for flight sim use:[link:members.lycos.co.uk/mcwdainow/tutorials/converting_bmps/converting_bmps.htm]Click
