  1. I am out of ideas and not experienced enough with this topic to offer any more constructive help but it sounds like a good idea short of trying a few other things (perhaps uninstall DirectX completely, then reinstall using the link to MS or try just reinstalling the ngx again) to take the hit and start fresh. You might end up chasing some obscure problem for a very long time. BTW, the future is friendly, Cheers!!
  2. did you rerun ezcaConfig.exe after you installed the ngx?
  3. Now that I have responded to your impudence here is how to resolve your problem. 1) use the ngx installer to remove your ngx installation2) go here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35, download/install DirectX.3) reinstall the ngx I hope this helps out others having related DirectX sub-installer problems. I kind of figured you wouldn't get it. I responded above with a possible fix. I did a have similar installation problem and this solved it.
  4. You obviously wasted your 12 years because "you didn't learn jack squat". It is likely worse than that ... Let me give you a clue (you need one badly). I would recommend you repeat the following minute by minute until it sinks in. "I have found the enemy, it is I."
  5. small hiccup. wanted to share just in case someone else runs into it. After the NGX installation, the installer tries to install DirectX components if they are not currently installed. On my system, I received an error message (see attached pic) and a message that DirectX failed to install. I started FSX anyway just to see what was up and was able to choose the NGX, set my airport etc and then clicked on Fly Now. This resulted in a FSX complete crash/lockup. I re-tried with another plane and all was well. I removed the NGX with the installer, reinstalled and essentially got exactly the same results. So I assumed that something was not right with my DirectX base/install and downloaded DirectX from here: "http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35" (version 9.29.1974, Date Published: 4/18/2011, see attached pic) This fixed the problem. I am sure this is rare and is related to my system only but I am posting this just in case it is seem by others. It has been quite a night with all the excitement and I finally have experienced the NGX, and as touted, it is magnificent!!!!!! Thank you PMDG. Words cannot do it justice (the NGX and my appreciation).
  6. Tabs mentioned tonight specifically that the non Boeing stuff would be available for download. The problem of course is their website is non op (at least the last time I checked)
  7. I just made a compilation mp4 vid for my iPad of all the AOA's NGx beta videos plus the cool promotional video from the PMDG NGX product page (which is also dead the last time I looked) so I'm off to bed. Good luck to everyone at PMDG in sorting this out.
  8. just buy chance I was viewing the NGx page, refreshed, and saw the buy button. So naturally, I clicked it. But Firefox told me the the host site might be too busy - gee really??? Tower: "PMDG N738PM - Position and hold" PMDGites: "*$*^#&%#^*$^&)#+($(*&$*^*$^*#$%%(_+$()&*#&%"
  9. nice, very nice. Thanks for sharing. I was at PANC last summer and took some great shots of the same area with many many 747Fs on the tarmac.BTW, I really like your sig pic. AlaskaAir will be the livery I use and most of my 737 NGx flying will be based in Alaska.
  10. Thank You Tom. My iPad also thanks you as well!!
  11. Just answer the question, no need to be a ... and?
  12. Tower: "PMDG N738PM - Go Around" PMDGites: "*&@*#^%$@@@(()*#&" Edit: Tongue in cheek of course!
  13. Thanks works great. Cleaner than the batch file method of FPS Limiter 0.2.
  14. serious proprietary notice and warning in this doc. Doubt this link/post will last long.
  15. Thanks for sharing your experience. Great constructive post! Do you know who manufactured the particular sim you were in?
  16. I do expect the T7 (and others) dev cycle to be MUCH shorter. Why? Because Ryan and RSR have mentioned that there “new dev platform” uses C++. Why would that help? Because, as an example, with a C++ you can model such things as avionics boxes, DUs and controllers/systems etc. as objects (black boxes). Multiple objects can be contained in container objects which might represent an “avionics sub system”. Once you have modeled, coded, debugged and tested an object it is “done”. It then can be “simply” instantiated (used again) on another aircraft platform. Sounds simple? It is NOT, but if done correctly it is an extremely powerful approach to maximize code reuse, minimize the debug/test phase and hence shorten similar product developments cycles. Which is of course beneficial to all since follow on products are quicker to market (more revenue and customer satisfaction). The catch is of course the first development where all the “heavy lifting” is required. There are always decisions to be made between just getting it done and making objects more generic so that the code base is “wide enough” to be used on future platforms. Since many Boeing systems are similar, it would make sense that the T7 will be in our hands before we know it. :( Time will be the judge. An incredible bonus for us FS customers is that PMDG have the luxury of releasing a product “when it is done”. While the NGX has taken a significant amount of time, it might be that a portion of this time has been building the code base (objects) that will shorten the dev cycle of future PMDG products. That is why being impatient is totally counterproductive!!!!!! The above is all pure speculation based on many years of past s/w development and of course I could be wrong. But then again, it really doesn’t matter.
  17. Ryan, thanks. You are the "PMDG" of customer service. Hmmm, somthing strange about that analogy...
  18. Simply beyond belief. The NGX is/will be a game changer. Lost for words.
  19. +1, with all the goodies turned on (VC reflections etc.) it pins my gtx480. I "retired" all my heavy iron aircraft and have been flying nothing but the Turbine Duke recently and absolutely love it. A beautiful crisp VC makes flying the Turbine Duke extremely satisfying and very enjoyable. Personally, the fidelity of the VC is paramount for immersion and from what we have seen so far, the PMDG NGX is about to raise the bar very seriously (I believe more significantly than many realize). Adding to this, the real world systems modeling and HGS etc., will make it the “gold standard” of add-on aircraft making it very difficult to rationalize other purchases for the seriously flight simmer.
  20. I am trying to build a collection of PMDG screen shots to use as my wallpaper slide show.Pics that are posted in this forum are easy to download. But some pics are only on facebook and I cannot seem to download the high rez larger images. Is this possible to do thru the facebook "wall" or are the pics on facebook just smaller rez? Thanks!!
  21. PMDG, would it be possible to scale the center pedestal poster to be the same as the instrument panel poster. Pic 1 is my attempt to "decorate" my home office wall. Pic 2 is what I am trying to accomplish. (Also, something is not aligning to the left of the center pedestal where there is white space.).I would be more than happy to purchase the poster set again if possible. Of course in the grand scheme of things ...
  22. Very nice - thanks Tabs. I bought it used it and liked it but deactivated it since I am focusing on my latest addition (Turbine Duke with RealityXP Garmin 530 - EXTREMELY very well done btw) . Ezdok "takes over" the FSX standard views (VC, spot and top down) and I have not the patience to deal with the less than poor documentation and the "user hostile" setup of external camera views. That's just me however and it might not be such a large deal for others. I just no longer want to spend hours "hacking" when I could be flying. It really is a good piece of software actually and as many have said (check out the EzDok forum) in spite of the lack of polish. It does work very well with TrackIR and the "head shake" feature add greatly to the sim it is definately a good sim addition. It came set up with external cameras views for my Aerosoft BeaverX (because it is similar to FSX native Beaver) and it does add greatly (at least for me) to the enjoyment of flying with the Beaver.I of course will give it another try with the NGX which I have targeted for purchase after the first NGX SP.
  23. I bought this one today - very well done. Going to get the RealityXP GNS 530 to compliment it. Does anyone have a good reference that would teach some turboprop basics?
