  1. Ok, then what mechanism does the 757 and 767 use for elevator trim?, are they FBW? and what happens if your tie gets caught in the trim wheel while changing frequncies?
  2. Looking at cockpit videos of the 737 MAX, I noticed they have those noisy motorized wheel trim controls. That would drive OCD Pauly crazy. Is the 737 the only currently built Boeing that has them? And how come the 737 MAX (such a new plane) uses them, wouldn't a FBW system replace them.
  3. If a pilot is certified on a 737-NG, does that make her/him automatically certified on the 737-MAX? If not, what kind of training will be needed to make the switch?
  4. Good, now I know it is just another 737, I can quit trolling this site for new information. I'll check back in 2 years.
  5. Vegas! Are you kidding VEGAS! with a tax write-off to boot! Get on your little 747 and get to VEGAS. Girls, Golf and Gambling! and a sim conference when I am sober!
  6. The purpose is to lure fellow simmers into looking for this simulator and having them check for the status every 6 months for the last 3 years and finding there is no real news on it. (wow - Pauly's mad). I gave up on it - I booked my full motion 777 last week in sunny Miami for February and will make take my golf clubs along as well (Pauly likes golf too). I bet the LD757 comes out before the PMDG sim is complete (wow Pauly's is crazy).
  7. Well since this is for fun, I would never want to take a prime slot and I usually ask off hours. I know the scheduler. She relegates me to those hours anyway. The facility is definitely quiet at off peak times. All the class rooms are dead empty, parking lot empty. I usually see pilots from overseas there during the evenings. But, I'll take what ever they give me.
  8. You know what would be cool: if I can get an ATC in with me. He/she can give me taxi, departure etc instructions along the way. I will do a complete flight from KJFK to KBOS, cold dark cockpit -start-up taxi etc. I'll take off heavy then magically dump fuel for landing. I'll set weather at 1/2 mile visibility with 10 kt cross winds and shoot into KBOS ILS4R. That will take 1 hour. Then I'll do some fun approaches like KJFK 13L, and a couple of ILS approaches. That will fill the 2 hours.
  9. FYI, I usually schedule the time on the weekend or in the evening. Real Pilots have the sim Mon-Friday 8 am - 5 pm. So I go after hours - It works out better for all. I will schedule Tuesday Feb 20th at 6-8 pm. (right outside KMIA)
  10. Can someone translate Bluestar's response for me? Wedgantilles: I have flown on most of the Boeing Sims, and I agree, flying the 737 for 4 hours was a workout on my arms. In my opinion, the 777 full motion sim is much easier to fly. Back to my request - I'd hate to have a right vacant. I already bought the plane tickets to KMIA and have a resort and tee times all set up. I'll book the sim time tomorrow for 2 hours. If anyone want to add two hours, let me know. I guess I could drag my teenager kid with me, but she'll just be texting the whole time in the sim.
  11. Well, you do agree, if you mastered the PMDG 777, you have no difficulty in a full motion sim? Agree? That is my experience from doing this many times and I never flew a real plan in my life. Quite a testimony for the great work PMDG does.
  12. I am headed to Miami in mid-February and will book two hours in a 777 Level D full motion simulator. I've done this many times and it is great to test out our skills we mastered on our PMDG 777 and apply them to a $17 million full motion 777 sim. If you are real good in your PMDG 777 sim, you should have no problem landing this plane. If anyone wants to join me, let me know. We can do 4 hours total: 2 hours each n the left seat flying and 2 hours in the right seat. It is a bit costly, $1000 per person - but it is a real thrill.
  13. I never heard anything more about the PMDG training sim in the Virginia area. Is it complete? Is it open to the public?
  14. What!! no way. Can I have a PMDG 777 on the same computer for both V3 and V4? I want to keep P3DV3 alive until I am ready to fully migrate. My question is will my existing PMDG 777 installer file I purchased 7 months ago for P3D V3 be able to be used for P3DV4. I mean how will that 7 month old installer even know to look for P3dV4. Or do I need to download a new PMDG installer under my same license.
  15. I just installed P3DV4.1 so no PMDG planes yet. I have them all on the same computer under V3. Do I just click on the PMDG777 Base Package P3D file and it will install. Ijust don't want to mess up my V3 yet - so I am concerned how to direct it to V4.
  16. I have P3D v3 and v4 installed on the same computer. I can't tell the difference between the two. Also all my Flytampa airports are with v3. When flytampa gets the v4 installers and the QW 787 comes out for P3D then I'll use v4. Now I only fly v3
  17. I think I have all the Boeings I need. I really don't need each variant of every plane. I'm happy with the 737, 747, 777 and QW787 - oh we'l have a 757 real soon! I'd love to see a military jet that can drop bombs and shoot missiles that actually blow up scenery.
  18. Why would I uninstall it? I have P3D V3 full of all the airports (FlyTampa and all your planes) I want to slowly migrate over to P3D V4 while keeping P3DV3 on the same computer active (until I get all the kinks worked out. Can my PMDG 777 co-exist on the same computer in P3Dv3 and P3D v4? Also I tried to upgrade P3dV4.1, it is a full 12 GB download install or is there just a file for the new version. It seems like a complete re-install.
  19. A little advice needed. I have all the PMDG planes on P3Dv3. I also have P3Dv4 on the same machine. If i want to install the 777 on P3DV4, can I just go into my download folder (where the pmdg.setup file exists) and run the install and direct it toP3Dv4?? Is it that easy?
  20. Someone give me a reality check here: I have P3D V3 with REX, all FlyTampa airports and all PMDG airplanes. On a 4K monitor everything looks great. I get 30 fps solid. I loaded in P3D V4 and it works great.. I did not load any scenery in yet, nor and PMDG planes, but the scenery between the two looks the same. I do get 190 fps with the default Baron plane. I am just not seeing the BIG difference between the V3 and V4. Nevertheless, I will migrate over to V4 over time. Thanks PMDG for all your great planes and providing me with so much joy over the years.
  21. Did PMDG ever finish their 747 simulator at their facility in Virginia?
  22. I am actually done with add ons until the 787 comes out. I have a 737, 747 and a 777. That is all I need. But I wonder if PMDG actually knows what the next new plane project (not an upgrade) is right now??
  23. Well Kyle, can you embellish on the differences? Is P3D a more accurate flight model? or is FSX more realistic?
