  1. mike...if sounds like you didn't run the various installs as 'run as administrator'.this is not the same as being on the machine as an administrator account.when you run an install program (eg. the update to fs9.1 or run your pmdg installers), right click on the file name and select 'run as administrator' from the menu that's shown. also, when running fs9.1, run it the same way ('run as administrator') - you can set this to be automatic by right clicking on the stat menu shortcut and selecting 'properties' and check the 'run as administrator' option on the relevant tab - that way the program is always 'run as administrator' when you select it from the start menu.hth.
  2. bob...negative.gerrit...bizarre! it works (kind of) - ALMOST every entry in the scenery.cfg file ends up with '\scenery' in the path and requires manual editing to fix it but at least there's some basic functonality there.
  3. unfortunately i have the same problem (vista ultimate 64 bit, everything opened/installed 'run as admin' ticked) and 'clicking anywhere on the background where the scenery folder resides' doesn't make any difference for me.i don't really fancy editing scenery.cfg manually so are there other solutions to this problem??
  4. and they're not so helpful if you're operating your vc from the right seat either!
  5. re: "...so I shouldn't use the vatsim weather..." - this is not quite correct - it's fsinn that fails to deal with the vatsim weather correctly.ideally, use a weather proggy (like active sky) to process the weather data sourced from vatsim (not real world weather direct through fs) - if you use a source other than vatsim for your weather data, you risk having weather that does not match what everyone else around you on the network is using. there's nothing more likely to guarantee an unnecessary arguement resulting in supervisors getting involved that going head on with someone over which rwy is active - you MUST use vatsim weather when on vatsim (regardless of whether it matches what's actually going on outside the window) - you just need a good weather engine to process it (and that is not fsinn in this case).hth
  6. sam...this one by pierre chevallier (search avsim for his name or fuelplanner747_176824.zip) is very simple to use and operates very much like the 737 kit.http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=76593hth
  7. ryan...it wasn't f/p's - it was v/a schedules info in a format specifically stipulated as covered by copyright of bav's software developer.fyi
  8. carl (and any other interested parties)...a good many of those routes are completely fictional (they were used as vehicles for some interesting destinations by a previous cargo division manager at bav).also, i'd consider getting the list off this forum - the relevant osp developer at the va takes the copyright issues seriously.fyi
  9. dilip...richard has withdrawn it now that the navigraph service has a terminal procedures set included in the download.i recall he mentioned copyright and/or other agreement requirements that he has with navigraph on a post somewhere on his navdata forum.
  10. i think gss's callsign is usually 'jetlift'fyi
  11. ...in fact, here's the file to get off avsim.british_airways_world_cargo_186791.zip
  12. john...ba's cargo is carried by global supply systems these days (under contract as noted above) - the livery on the pmdg site is the gss scheme.there is a (now historic) chelsea rose livery somewhere on avsim from back when atlas (i think) carried ba's cargo - the author is simon twitchet (spelling may be in error but if you try the various permutations on these clues using avsim's search function i'm sure you'll find the file).hth
  13. i've had a quick shufti at some oz aerodrome procs...a good devt but certainly for oz procs, there's some missing (eg. ybbn has no rnav (gnss) or vor apps in the file - only the ils is included; ypph has vor and ils but the ndb and rnav (gnss) apps are awol).still - a good start for some places perhaps?!good work stefan.
  14. you reckon they've gone??i could get the site to open yesterday (when i first read this post) and right now.the front page said the following yesterday and does so again today (as i post at 00:54z friday)"Site Maintainance Due to essential maintainance being carried out on our database system and in preparation for our latest additions, the pss checkout will be temporarily closed over the next few days. Phoenix Simulation Software would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are working hard to restore normal service as soon as possible. Please check back regularly for further updates and announcements."you lads love a good beat-up!
  15. i can't let it go :) ...bob - there's some parts of the planet that the odd one or two of us like flying to that terry's planepath site doesn't cover just yet!;)
  16. carl (and other interested parties)...if you're looking for good quality frame friendly scenery for australia, there's an excellent package available from vista oz ( http://www.vistaoz.org/ ) (read installation instructions carefully!).the scenery available for the oz majors such as syd, mel and bne is very good (bne is a bit of a frame eater on my older kit). there are incremental updates to other oz majors such as adl and per which make these much more realistic places to visit compared to the default alternative.hth
  17. goodo...i won't look at my interim proc then :)steve...why not post 'em on navdata for the general hoi poloi? (please!)dan...what they said.
  18. g'day rob (nearly missed your sig in there!)...i use sb3 on vatsim and haven't dabbled in fsinn - in sb3, you can specify your input and output devices for voice and atc and thus, if you use a usb headset, you can set voice/atc to the headset and leave the ambient cockpit racket to your speakers.hth
  19. dang...i think that was my 'interim' fix to simon butler's excellent sids/stars for the uk majors which he stopped updating in march (modified with mr b's kind permission).my changes at the time were only to the stars (they were restructured a litle in the march airac) - i made no change to simon's sid programming which (as part of lam4m) specifiesSID LAM4M RNW 26L HDG 262 UNTIL 696 FIX IWW2.3 FIX FIX02 SPEED 180 FIX DET31...i think the offender in this is "...UNTIL 696..." which sh/could be modified to specify the overfly dan refers to.unless someone beats me to it (doesn't worry me - i thought terry yingling/planepath were covering the uk majors now, including lgw, so my mods to simon's procs should be redundant!) i'll have a dekko at a further fiddle in the next day or two and update and post it back up on navdata.in the interim, you could fly the sid manually to the turn and then engage lnav.[by the way, terry (if you happen to read this), thanks for updating the egll (and other app procedures) procedures and maintaining these on your site - i note that the non-radar approaches at the end of the stars aren't implemented - fyi and feel free to email if you want further detail/info]
  20. steve...your deductions are indeed correct.the add-on processes all rwy alts as that listed for the last rwy listed at the specified aerodrome in the wpnavapt file.so if rwy 34 @ 330' is the last one in the list for mel in the above file, that's taken as the aerodrome alt for all rwys.how to fix it? there's no easy way - for fs9 add-on's it'll be something you need to live with as i doubt further development work would be envisaged to fix the prob for those versions.you can of course adjust your approach alts from the relevant approach plate limits as part of your descent planning.hth!
  21. g'day...i didn't add domut to the procedure file as it was for 0703 changes. domut is listed in the airac and the procedure worked ok for me during testing without declaring it again in the procedure file.as phil noted above, adding the specified line in the file will fix the problem for users who haven't the inclination or resources to update their navdata.i should hasten to add that i only saw these amendments as temporary fixes to the heathrow procedure file - while i have a passing knowledge of the pmdg syntax, i don't know that i want to get in the process of duplicating work by more capable authors already working in the area and who will no doubt do a much more thorough job on maintaining other aspects of the procedures (unfortunately, simon butler has now ceased his excellent service covering the uk majors - at the time of 0703 implementation, no one else had updated the lhr or lgw files so a quick fix/stop-gap for that purpose was all i hoped to provide).i understand terry also does the uk majors and no doubt the relevant amendments will materialise in his files soon enough.
  22. g'day...no doubt you're all aware of the changes to London airspace with the latest airac (0703).STARs into LHR and LGW have changed a little.Simon Butler kindly gave me his permission to amend his excellent pmdg procedure files for the changes. They are available from the navdata sids/stars database and from avsim (available already on the former, just uploaded them on the latter and will take a little while to appear in the database).for use with 0703 and later.fyi.
  23. why reinvent the wheel...as simon noted earlier, he's done (been doing for a long time) up to date procedures for the brit majors (including lhr) which you can get here http://www.simonsidstars.co.uk/index.htmwhile you're at it, visit merv archer's austscene site and get his oz procedures too - like simon with the uk procs, merv keeps these up to date with the oz airservices data.
  24. are we still in interim patch-land then?!is it worth re-downloading or waiting for v1.x?
  25. re: favourite - at the risk of sounding like a sad git, pretty well anything that gets you off the ground will get me going - i just came back to perth from melbourne last night (after a spot of business in the east) on a qf 763 (last time, just before xmas was a qf 743) and it's all good and turns me into a kid again. on the other hand, my youngest (17) has just started learning in c152's at the local port for tiddlers (ypjt - busiest in oz on a volume of traffic handled basis), and i only have to hear the first 'pft' of the pistons firing to turn my head. balloons work! :) as a desk jockey by day, it's all good!re: toe in the water - you won't look back! as i said, i can't do it off-line any more.
