04:00 UTC is indeed 05:00 BST

"If you purchased the simulator via Steam, you will be able to download at 04:00 UTC ( August 18, 12:00am EST) universally across all countries."

There is much better TTS under active development using neural networks, indeed it's already available: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/services/cognitive-services/text-to-speech/ At some point this tech will be added to FS, without doubt.

This sim will live and die by how much this community values it. Microsoft know that, and Asobo know that. Give it a few months, the 'gamers' (for want of a better word) will either get bored and disappear or become bona fide sim enthusiasts as all of us once did.

In an ideal world external content would be 'unpacked' and installed/uninstalled by a dedicated content manger. If I'm not mistaken such a tool was mentioned in the live q&a.

Embargo lifts at 8am UK time on Friday
viz replied to espent's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
MS gave her a key specifically to stream it, hence the stream. A real A320 pilot demonstrating the release version of MFS and its default Airbus. -

Apparently the purpose of the stream is to compare the A320 with the real aircraft. People looking for visuals etc can get that elsewhere via the million other videos and streams. -

I think it's safe to say she isn't very impressed... -

Yeah it does seem a tad odd if they are reviewing month old beta versions. Who knows, maybe they will get release candidates. -
Kudos to Jayne, I think she put forward just about all of the burning questions currently floating about.

Runway lights bug still present in MSFS?h

Regarding runway edge lighting (my emphasis added): Some examples of omitted/irregular edge lighting: -

This is by design apparently. ICAO omits recessed edge lighting depending on runway type, surface and lighting intensity requirements. -

How important is UPLOAD speed for MSFS2020?
viz replied to spilok's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
In general, ISPs limit upload speeds to discourage users from running file servers from their homes. -
Have the leaks been a blessing in disguise?
viz replied to FAZZ3's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
There are many, search youtube for Microsoft Flight Simulator Global Preview Event. Some are more informative than others. There can be no doubt that Microsoft are putting a lot of resources (not just financial) into this project: multiple divisions of the company involved, multiple top-tier third parties, multiple platforms, cutting edge technology - all of which are likely feeding back to the mutual benefit of each other... The 10 year plan suggests that this is not just another game for the catalogue, this is something much more intertwined with Microsoft's broader corporate strategy over the next decade. -
Interesting that Render Scaling is implemented, I wonder if we can set a target frame rate and have the sim auto-scale.

Boxed version will require DVD at every start-up
viz replied to viz's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yes, seems a tad inconvenient given that the software will be synchronised online anyway. -
July 16th, 2020 - Development/Insider Update

Arwen, I'm sure we all appreciate the further clarification of things that are blindingly obvious. Things that I'm sure most here already knew before you posted your interjection. 😉 -

Asobo brought up the roadmap, specifically for community perusal... I (and others) merely offered an opinion regarding its contents, just as all interested parties have and will continue to do, every single time it's updated. How many is way too many Arwen? How much to way too much? What are core parts of the sim? What are extra features? Just to reiterate, it sounds to me as if you are conflating genuine discussion of upcoming/wishlisted/roadmap items with the TINY but perhaps vocal minority of trolls criticising the release state of a 10 year development project. -

No but they are on the wishlist, so your 'too many are expecting too much' is unfounded. Most people here know and appreciate what is being released next month. The speculation surrounding an upcoming teaser and feature discoveries is entirely just. The 'flight dynamics' will be a work in progress throughout the life of the product. I'd be surprised if it wasn't mentioned in most build updates. What isn't a given is the other features people are hoping to see implemented.
