I'll say it! Aside from Westman's rig .... I'll put my I5 rig up against any I7 8700K user that regularly chimes in here at Avsim. Heck, with the money I take in I'd probably let it ride against Rob's stuff, setup in a typical user single monitor configuration. As Cklyiu recommends ...take the money you save and upgrade somewhere else. But!!! If one has zero interest in overclocking then get the 8700K ..it comes with higher clock speeds out of the box. Nuter important note: talk has it that new Intel cpus are just weeks away.

some picts with my corsair 300D that is supposed to fit the H100I v2 ....lol ...you must also consider the motherboard. LOL I can barely fit a coin between the heat block and the ram ....and the 2nd pict shows the radiator 1+ inches through the roof. Edit: Only top mounted hoses will fit my mobo ....measure twice cut once, right? 🙂

Just one more thought on this new hardware coming down the pipe: At what point do we start worrying about getting data to the cpu? I have to tell ya, FPS is not an issue for me anymore. No. My concern now is getting data to the cpu now. I can run all day and night with TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10, full dynamic lighting, shadows, ai -pretty much everything reasonably maxed out at 1440P and not have an FPS issue. My issue is getting untimely disk reads or writes that stall the sim using the above mentioned settings ...and yes, I think I understand it that LM does not officially support text 10, but I like it!!!. Man, sometimes I just wanna put P3D on a ram drive and be done with it.. Are SSD drives cutting it any more? Maybe LM can allow us to cache more of the sim ...entire regions if possible.

I was looking at the 750d ...ended up with a 300d - I have an EATX mobo. You should have enough room without worrying about modification. The thing to be mindful is the rams slots. The 150 has the tubes coming out on the side of the heat block -might run into ram sticks. ...I hear the 150 is not much better than h100 v2 which has the tubes on top of the block ,,,,something to consider.. Edit ....my post is in addition to what Doug said.

Yeah, I get it Greg ... 🙂 I'll be interested in the 9700K ....curious if those two extra cores will be meaningful. I can tell ya, at cruising altitude (above orbx so and nor cal) all six of my cores are running at damn near 100%; however, on the ground and on a short final my cpu is half asleep.

https://imgur.com/ivReUJR no delid, h100 I v2, p3d v4.3 with settings pretty much maxed out -including TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10, mesh 2m. the pict is leaving LAX with AI, over orbx. and using ASN. ..Oh, and no noise - cooler is chilled by a pair of Noctua NF s12a 120mm fans ...And there's no AVX offset. 🙂 And to the layman, and in practical P3D terms, the I5 8600K is virtually the same processor as the 8700K -if you're not using hyperthreading ... if one uses it, my 8600k will simply out perform it on all the important levels.

And your minimum fps around LAX, NYC and EGLL, with a little bit of AI to litter the sky?

My 100 mile view ( <-----sorry, couldn't resist), is that this is a camera issue. So what kurtb said. But, it may be a little more involved that just a uninstall/reinstall. You may have to look into what hooks Chaseplane to P3D. Stuff like .cfg files and possibly an OS registry entry ...or two.

I'm curious what your default "top down" camera view looks like ...is it straight down and as you zoom out does the aircraft remain in the cross hair?

Although I don't suffer from this, I'm totally fascinated by it: Assuming your hardware is operating as intended -it looks as if the sim has lost track of you guys. What happens if you guys fly back to the point of origin? Do ya'll have custom cameras or something that might be telling the sim you're some place you're not???

I use the H100I V2 at the top of the case ....works damn good! I did have to make some modifications in the interests of noise and temps. I switched out the stock cooler fans for the Noctua NF S12A fans and applied MX4 thermal compound by Artic for the block. No noise with good cooling. The below image was captured this morning:;ambient room temp was 74F. My room temps this time of year are around 72 to 74 in the morning with afternoon temps topping out at 77 to 78F. These temps are with cores locked at 5.0 with no AVX offset. My gpu temps never change ...always between 68 to 70 C. https://imgur.com/ivReUJR note: add a degree C to the max cpu temp for the afternoon score and subtract a degree for the morning score. ....yeah, a very tight range.. 🙂 LOL at the A/C idea ...yeah, i've thought about it to. 🙂

Shout out for the 8600K ...save yourself $150 over the 8700K. There's not a darn thing an 8700k can do that an 8600K can't with HT off The wise man with the 8700K uses no HT.

It doesn't look like a mesh problem -from the picture, anyway. I can see that you have at least two different scenery BGLs showing; notice the two Bay Bridges.

Probably 200% faster than what you experienced with V4.2. With shadows and dynamic lighting in full affect. Yeah, all lights on.
