To shed a lil light on what my "SATA" problem was MolexI was doing some reading on these connectors; seems pretty clear to me, now, that we shouldn't be using these connectors for anything other than fans. -Yes, I'm guilty of poor cable management. :-)One other note: I dual boot -I'm still in luv with Xp- and never experienced any drive issues with XP on this rig. Seems the reason is XP doesn't monitor the SATA power line for voltage irregularities. Win7 not only monitors current but will actually block an offending device (BSOD) when it senses a volt issue. I never got the BSOD in Win7, but I did get the disappearing DVD drive and a solid-on HDD case led activity indicator.

Hi Dave,Try this for starters video.and this more videoquick notes:-Try '1T' with your memory timings.-never a bad idea to clear CMOS before trying 'others' settings-I use offset +.005 <---- don't stray too far from zero (always confirm volt usage in bios after reboot ....might have to reboot twice into bios to get accurate reading -should read 3.4Ghz with volt usage near 1.20.Have fun man-ken

I'm using the Intel tcase package spec of 72.6c. "Intel sez" just sounds better to me. :-)voltage analogy: In the water flow analogy sometimes used to explain electric circuits by comparing them to water-filled pipes, voltage difference is likened to water pressure difference–the difference determines how quickly the electrons will travel through the circuit. Current (in amperes), in the same analogy, is a measure of the volume of water that flows past a given point per unit time (volumetric flow rate). The flow rate is determined by the width of the pipe (analogous to electrical conductivity), and the pressure difference between the front end of the pipe and the exit (analogous to voltage). The analogy extends to power dissipation: the power given up by the water flow is equal to flow rate times pressure, just as the power dissipated in a resistor is equal to current times the voltage drop across the resistor (watts = amperes × volts).copied from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volt

Doods! The Sandy bridge 2500 and 2600 are rated up to 95 watts at a max of 72c.So when setting up your puter your goal is to get that 72c as close to the 95w load as possible. Some guys reach the goal at 4.2GHZ, others like myself reach that goal at 5.0GHz.I've seen guys running clock speeds at 4.5GHz with temps in the 80c range at 60% loads!?!?!? <----- Where's the efficiency? This example is an "extreme" overclock" IMO.

Blurries and SSDs

You know, I often have the same experience after a fresh install with my $39.00 Seagate disk drive. :Big Grin:Darem, please report back to us in 30 days. -
Yeah, I've been bitten. I'm a bit disappointed. Now, I did purchases this mobo a few days AFTER the "recall" - when all but a local puter store had pulled their p67 stock from the shelves - so I knew what I was getting into; however, part of my purchase decision process included what you pointed out from Intel: "15% at 3yrs estimate" ....And heck, this wasn't even a slow degradation over a 1 year period. Oh well. I wanted to keep this mobo, as it was otherwise fine. Not looking forward to the mobo change out.

The tricky part is recognizing the "max", and then accepting that "max". -
The second best home cockpit? http://channel9.msdn.com/Series/Show-Us-Your-Tech/Softie-Builds-737-Cockpit-In-His-House A PMDG NGX beta tester?....I made some effort to make sure the link hasn't been previously posted here, sorry if I missed it. :-)other linkhttp://www.winrumors.com/microsoft-employee-builds-737-cockpit-at-home-for-flight-simulator-x/

Blurries and SSDs

The short answer is no. In your case, it's not a hardware problem. You need to tweak software.
