  1. Hi Hans,See this thread, it may be of help:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=255700
  2. Downloading ADE9X right now!! :( Fox, I thought EditVoicePack may have causing the AI not to reply to the ATC, apparentely, the problem was related to the approach codes. :(
  3. :( :( I couldn't agree more, I even run to the window to get a glimpse if the aircraft is flying low over my appartement!I have a friend who's balcony has a view over the final approach to the runways 36R and 06 for LTBA and 06 for LTFJ, I don't let go of the binoculars when I'm there.I always loved airplanes as a kid but I got truly addicted to aviation and FS in the early 2000s in Toulouse during my stay for university education. I loved spotting the green fuselaged Airbuses on test runs.
  4. The AI FP getting canceled is certainly very fascinating! This, I've never seen before!WOAI sometimes needs a couple of minutes to get the schedules in order so it's possible to see a couple of short landings. Could be another reason though... Since default FS ATC doesn't give weather info for landings, are you using EditVoicePack?
  5. Ron, If you still want to take a look at the scenery or the charts, drop me a PM, I'll send them to you. The scenery is only around 2MB, easily sendable.EDIT: You can get the scenery here too, maybe this address will work...?http://www.sanalpilot.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3650AF2 : http://www.sanalpilot.com/downloads/af2_lcen.zip
  6. My pleasure, John!I found about it in that thread, until then, I had the pile-ups at big airports with parallel runways like EDDF, KATL, etc...From time to time you will see the occasional collision or an AI trying to cross the runway on your take-off roll but I believe it's an excellent way around the ATC limitation.
  7. I usually assign the inner runways for departures and the outers for landings. To avoid the AI pile-ups John mentions, I use the "diamond technique" which is explained thoroughly here:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=249846&hlIndeed, the layout is awkward, landings on 23L would block the runway for backtracks...Not good. Try both settings and see how they work but definitely use the technique above for traffic flow. Alternatively, (my personal choice) create 2 separate files- 05L for TO and 05R for LDG with northerly, easterly winds- 23L for TO and 23R for LDG with southerly, westerly windsIn this case, close the opposite ends for both operations.(I hope this was clear :( )
  8. Hi,First of all, ditto on the library's come-back, I noticed how valuable it was to my simming while it was offline. To answer your question, FS ATC will assign the closest runway to the apron for departures and also takes into consideration runway length although this is not always the case.By using the AF2 program and this is the best way, you can assign certain different runways for T.O and LDG. This is very easy to do and helps AI traffic flow very much when the airport has parallel runways. It's slightly more difficult and requires some editing in the AF2 file (airport layout) when the runways are in different directions. In your case at EGCC, I would assign one runway for landing and another for take-off, as you say, it would certainly be a better option.Hope this helps
  9. Welcome home, maître! :( J'éspère que les vacances se sont bien passées.
  10. It works fine for me too.
  11. "silence" :( :( GENIAL!!C'est maintenant et ici que j'ai vu la bonne nouvelle, merci Ben!
  12. You should find it here,C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
  13. To add to Ron's detailed post, you can find LCEN charts and scenery here:http://www.trvacc.org/web/airspace/airport...l.asp?ICAO=LCEN
  14. Hi there,What you need here is a modified AF2 file with the ILS added. The library being down, try the other FS sites such as flightsim.comYou can also add them yourself with Lee Swordy's Afcad2 program. It's fairly easy to do. You can find it on the Flightsim website.Hope this helps
  15. This is some sort of an FS bug, I think. Happens with all my aircraft, pretty much everywhere. In my Wilco A380, it used to trigger the landing cabin announcement :(
  16. It's certainly good to have another NG-rated member here. I think there was a couple of others but they don't chime in very often as Dan said.I hope Jose Luis (basa) shares his opinion with us, too, he knows a great deal on the NG FMC.I agree with VNAV not being using much in real life but since FS ATC is quite limited, I like to use VNAV down to 10000 feet then go to V/S as I find the LVL CHG to be not very practical unless I have a large margin. To add to what has been said above, from what I see on WAR DVDs, V/S is used most of the time, sometimes even on climb.EDIT: I've never done this before but I suspect it might work to some extent. Create a custom waypoint just 3NM out from the threshold on the same course with an altitude constraint of 1000 feet (no constraints for the other waypoints) and see if the VDI does the job...?
  17. Hi Matt,I believe you are referring to the VNAV indicator visible on the ND. You can also see it in the FMC descent page, correct. Personally, I think the VNAV logic, if planned correctly, is quite accurate on the NG. However, as Dan mentioned, because of FS wind direction changes it might go off course which then requires V/S intervention.I frequently use VNAV for descents down to 10000 feet and even lower (rarely though). Most of the time it works well.I don't think it's possible to insert a runway as a waypoint in the FMC, you can only insert one in the RTE page or select one in the arrivals, I may be wrong though. Why not create a custom waypoint very near to the runway?Regards
  18. Definitely, especially when a lot clouds are involved.
  19. A fresh reinstall with the 9.1 patch of course is a good idea. You could start by the Terrain lines, those will improve your visuals. Also, in the thread I posted above you have them in detail.
  20. I would recommend either of these 3 packs, I use files from all 3 actually:- Des Braban- Christoffer Peterson V2- Emil Serafino's latest oneI don't know if they are available elsewhere so you might have to wait for the library to be back.
  21. Great pictures, Travis. I love the one with the banking on approach.I also enjoy your beautiful cockpit pictures on A.net too.
  22. The link posted above by John is good for freeware sceneries, you should be able to find all of them there.Toulouse certainly would be wonderful, I lived a few years over there! Unfortunately, no freeware version, only a payware one. Actually there is a free LFBO but it comes with other stuff covering the Midi-Pyrenees region but I haven't tested it.If you want realistic clouds and a good weather engine you have to get Active Sky, again payware. For Sid/Stars, go here http://www.navdata.at/php/sidstar/sidstar.phpEDIT: Check out this thread for better visual settings, I've found it to be extremely useful: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=245152&hl
  23. My pleasure! There are many good freeware sceneries, just tell us what you have in mind. Oh, unfortunately, nothing good for EDDT. Maybe someone here knows a good freeware Tegel scenery? For a free EDDF, I can only suggest ameddf11.zip and it's improved afcad2 file ameddfai.zip which you can find on the flightsim library. This is only a slight improvement over the default EDDF, nothing fancy. Also, I would highly recommend Afcad 2.21 with which you can edit airport layouts to your liking, control runway usage and do other neat stuff.Happy landings
  24. Hi Chris,I think you mean Jim Vile's ADE9 which will simplify writing/editing approaches for FS9. It isn't out yet but apparentely will be soon.regards
