  1. Hey Macs,What are your current cloud textures?I'm using the REP ones which are a mixture of 256 and 512, with mostly 512. They are quite harsh on frames too.I think changing them to DXT eases the impact on FPS but I don't know how to do that... :(
  2. World-of-AI for AI traffic, REP (freeware environment) and Soft Horizons by John Cillis. All freeware, all significant improvements.
  3. Rich,The latest version of the PSS 757 doesn't include the selector tool. I asked JF support about it when I got the aircraft about 2 months ago. Apparently, the cockpit textures that come with the update patch (1.3) render the models to 2D+VC only.
  4. :( Don't worry about it, it's very well hidden.It's in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
  5. Hi ZachJust a shot in the dark here, could it be "spotlight"?Also, did you try to look it up by its "date modified"?
  6. :( You're most welcome Chris!
  7. Well, you might have heard of World-of-ai, it's quite FPS friendly and it has all the major airlines in case you change your mind and want to populate your skies :( My specs are lower than yours and I run about 100 WOAI packages at a solid 20FPS at big airports. A significant hit on frames are undoubtably heavy clouds!
  8. Hi Chris,This thread has been very helpful in improving my textures in general.Maybe you'll find the mentioned CFG tweaks useful too.http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=245152&hl
  9. Hello Seb,It actually depends on whether you want an NG or a Classic. They are quite different aircraft. The PMDG is highly realistic even considering it was made in 2002 or 2003, even the real NG has changed since! The FMC features pretty much everything an FS one can. Both are the best (IMO) in their respective categories. The PMDG one, an FS classic is absolutely a joy to fly, no major bugs, perfect systems, just pure pleasure, not to mention excellent FPS.The Wilco one is also liked by many simmers although I remember people mentioning a few problems in A/P flight. A search here on AVSIM might bring them up. Hopefully, experienced PIC drivers will chime in.Just my 0.02 :(Seb, just out of curiosity, why don't you have any AI in your FS?
  10. Hats off, excellent job AVSIM Staff!!Thank you :(
  11. Don't we all need a decent Airbus! :( This thread seems to address your question:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=213821&hlHope this helps
  12. WOOHOOO!!!Home sweet home!! :(
  13. Moi je conseillerais Routefinder. C'est le plus consistant et on peut aussi choisir le cycle Airac selon lequel la route est générée.http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/Je regrette que Flightaware soit seulement pour l'US. C'est un outil formidable.
  14. :( You should see the runways in List-Runways in the top menu. You can't visually see them because they're probably ditched in a body of water somewhere, that's what I do anyway. If there are no runways in that list then it's not a xwind afcad. The only downside is that ATIS will read these extra runways so you'll have long ATIS messages.
  15. I have absolutely no idea how these mailings happen so I'm not accusing anyone. I get spam all the time. I am registered at Just Flight with the same email address though, anyone else in the same situation?
  16. Thanks! Downloading it right now.EDIT: Great FRF scenery as always, however, a couple of problems for me. I'm using an old Airac cycle which doesn't include the new runway, 11-29 so I chose to open 10-28 for take-offs and landings. The readme says that if the afcad file is modified there may be distortions. I did a quick flyover and some spotting but couldn't locate any problems, not any major ones at least? :(
  17. Same here, I have been asking myself the same questions... :(
  18. Hi,It's not that complicated to implement xwind runways. Just take a thorough look at one, try to understand the logic with the runway headings (max 7.9 degrees between them). Follow the instructions in the link Opa posted. Trust me you will nail it. :(
  19. It should be an intermittent warning horn, not the bell like the fire alarm. But as far as I know trim setting doesn't set it off, only undeployed flaps do. :( You should also be able to see the trim setting as mentioned above by Al, at least I can in the 2D panel (throttle window)
  20. Thanks Scott for posting on the issue, this was really annoying for me too. I hadn't given it any interest for a while but now thanks to Opa (once again! :( ) there seems to be a solution.Happy landings
  21. Hello Tom,I'm more of an offline IFR, airliner type of simmer. Since a couple of years I exclusively fly complexe add-ons (PMDG, LVLD, PSS) with a realistic FMC and systems. My main interest is flying as close to real as possible, with checklists and charts. Airport sceneries, mesh and landclass come in second place for me. I prefer a smooth running FS and its default terrain and weather is good enough for me. (except the real weather dead zones)As for flying "low and slow", I do enjoy it very much and I'm clocking more and more hours in VFR these days.
