  1. Thanks, I'll give that a shot! Seems simple enough, thanks for reminding me of this feature! Bill
  2. Hi, Thanks for your response. The end product will be a transcript of lat/long/alt and other flight data parameters that the team would then load into their software so they could "visualize" the flight using their software. So, we'd use a hand-flown flight to get close to replicating the accident, then export that data out so it could be printed, and/or fed into their data visualizer. Make sense? Thanks!
  3. Hello, I have a colleague that works with ALPA (Pilot's association) and the NTSB, and who is working with a university that helps train aircraft accident investigators. What they'd like to do is re-create/sim-fly an accident that happened in 1975 and record all the relevant flight position, altitude, changes in altitude, etc parameters from the flight, then print them in a way that would mimic the output that would come from the data recorders. Has anyone used the data recording feature that might provide a quick tutorial on how to use it? I think this should be simple in X-Plane, but it's something I've never tired. Thoughts? Thanks Bill KSGP
  4. Hi, There are a lot of cockpit sounds, not sure if BSS did them. Engine start/stop and general engine are very nice from BSS. Wish there was a bit less rumble in the aft areas of the cabin. If you enjoy the 757, this should keep you happy now, and in XP-11 Let me know if/when you've been able to fly her a bit! Bill
  5. Hi all, My Pop retired from Eastern on the 757, so it's always been a favorite of mine. I've had FF 757 v1 nearly from the start, and today decided to go for v2 with the discount, and I am glad I did! I spent a bunch of time in each version flying patterns at DFW, as well as flying a short Houston-Dallas flight in each. Overall, the cockpit visuals, interface with the knobs and switches, lighting, and sounds make v2 much more immersive and fun. I'm lucky to have a good FS budget, so pricing wasn't an issue for me. What I'd say is that v1 owners should apply good economic reasoning when thinking about the choice. Sunk costs are just that, sunk, and shouldn't dominate your thinking. It's marginal cost/benefit that should guide you. For me, the sounds are so much better, the visuals are so much cleaner and lighter, the iPad interface (a la the 767) to customize all sorts of settings is great--and a value added. Overall, the net benefit is so great that v1 had been removed from my XP set-up, and I'll await the great hobby-driven liveries that have already started coming in. Thanks for the input and debate in this thread--it was useful--but ultimately experiencing the difference is what will sell this for people on the fence. Thanks Bill KSGP
  6. Hi They reference BSS sounds--can you say much about the new sound-set? BSS work on the CRJ and A-320 is fantastic--and worth a bunch to me. How does this bird sound? V1 owner. Thanks Bill
  7. Austin's response to Q/A at the conference indicated that they're hope is to enact actual "seasons" through particle and light rendering...not through static texturing. That will lead (eventually) to a leap-frog implementation. They are going to let hobbyists or third party folks offer a texture-based solution. So, no "seasons" at 11 release. Bill
  8. I am really enjoying this plug-in! Having flown with RTH (which I thought was immersive), this is even more-so. Love that visibility increases automatically, and smoothly as you gain altitude. Makes tubeliner flying much more satisfying overall! Bill KGSP
  9. Hi Mario, After a number of comparative flights, I'd agree, VS is a very good "one-stop" solution to a great looking and performing XP. I fully "understand" the initial VS "concept", so please don't be condescending in tone. Having said that, given that airport runway light intensities can be changed--I still think a small option for light intensity would be an appropriate addition to a strong product. Thanks Bill
  10. Very nice plug in! As we gain altitude, are we supposed to see a lengthening of visibility? When I fly airliners over the clear US Southwest, there are often high visibilities. Will this support those on CAVU days? If not, no worries, just trying to understand the capabilities. Also, do you anticipate any ability (like RTH) to alter intensity/visibility of lights? That's a good option for foggy days with the intensities up to max (and it helps me find traffic in X-Life sometimes!) Thanks SO much for your contribution to the hobby! Bill KGSP
  11. Hi, I'v posted an xcamera set on the Facebook page for the DC-6B pilot's group. Bill
  12. Hi, I've done some limited photo-texturing modifications to the engines, and have a new livery (Reeve Aleutian Airways) ready for upload. I think the PMDG EULA provides permission to upload these freeware modifications, provided I give proper credit to PMDG? Is this correct? One of my texture re-works got bumped at another location, and it's confused me about re-painting the DC-6's. Thanks Bill Schulz
  13. Hi Onno, Can you use xcamera to get into the cabin and use the 3D internal view to set up wing/cabin/engine views? I'm frustrated that I can't set up any 3D cameras outside the cockpit....or else I'm missing how to open the cockpit door and "escape" the cockpit, so I can set up some views from the cabin. Any help is appreciated. Bill
  14. Hi, No problems going the other way...from 737 to DC-6, the paired rudde/tiller yaw all work. Odd, indeed! Thanks Bill
  15. Hi team, I've noticed that, after flying the DC-6, when I try to fly another aircraft (IXEG 737, FlyJ 737 are the only ones I've flown after the DC-6), I lose tiller control. Rudder will work, but not tiller. After an X-Plane reboot, the tiller on the 737's works fine. Just an observation, easy workaround, just wondered if others had noticed. Thanks Bill KGSP
  16. Hi Team, I really love your rendition of the DC-6, thanks so much! One of the joys of having a vintage airliner like this is re-creating some memories as a passenger--(even if only for short times in cruise!) With the cockpit door open, and stairs down, I still can exit the 3D "shell". Nor can I open the cockpit door to get to the cabin (which a pilot might need to do). Am I missing a trick to getting to the cabin to set up some views? Thanks so much Bill
  17. "The difference is this: one of these men was my friend. I know I've lost a friend because of the pain his passing brings. It is not by proximity, but by action, that we touch those around us and make a difference in their lives. This thing that he made, this being that breathes life into our virtual world of flight, was one that makes a great difference. Behind every page, every file, every message, there is a person saying something we should listen to, even if it's just to share a kind thought. As one of those souls who touched so many, he leaves a legacy; I will still hear him in the halls of this place he built. And I will miss him." SO well said. We will all miss Tom, and will honor him by continuing to be the strong community that loved what he loved. Thank you Tom. Bill KSGP
  18. Tom, You've given so much to our Flight Simulation Community, including strong leadership, vision, and tangible commitment of your time and resources. For that we are eternally grateful, thank you. I hope you and your family can spend quality time in your remaining days. None of us know "our time", but we should all live fully--as I know you have, and will. My care Bill KGSP
  19. This looks so awesome, thank team for the continued great support of our hobby! Is there any way to drop in a more complete, if even non-functioning 3-D shell in the meantime? I fly final approaches by hand most of the time (at least when not in IMC!), and in the 3D cockpit. Having a bit more defined 3-D shell than is there currently would be super! Thanks Bill KGSP
  20. Hi, I use this product, and I'd say that it does add a bit of "plausibility" to the distant views, but it's still on the blurry side, not crisp. I would not fly airliner flights at altitude on clear days without it, however, as, when matched with SkyMaxx Pro, the overall feel is very good. Bill KGSP
  21. What you were seeing may not have been "clear skies" but rather, a very limited visibility cloak...which looks like clear skies...that's my hunch, you were in very limited vis conditions--which don't change as you gain altitude.... I'm waiting on a WX injector--in the meantime, I typically load real wx, for winds, then go to "global" weather (manually) and re-set the clouds and vis to what I think approximates what I expect to see, skipping the METAR cloud info. Bill
  22. Would be wonderful if you could work with X-Aviation to have their Florida scenery "enhanced" with this technique...I'd pay $5 to upgrade and not have to figure what looks like a rather technical challenge. Bill
  23. DCS or X-Plane? You have me curious! Also, do you live in Portugal? My descendants are from the Acores (and earlier, the home country). Went to visit Portugal in the 1990's, and drove through the inland countryside to the Sintra area and coast...what wonderful people and a beautiful country! Bill
