  1. Activate it and try again. Also check your scenery library for correct priority. The Madeira layer should be above the FTX layers.
  2. I have the HD5870 1Gb and swapped it with a friends GTX660TI 3Gb a while ago. If it made any difference at all it seemed to be performing a (tiny) little bit better in some circumstances and the graphics were a little bit nicer (sharper, better color saturation, etc). But all in all not worth the investment in my opinion. Got the HD5870 back in and it will remain there until I completely upgrade my system (hopefully end of this year).
  3. To my knowledge, an SSD cannot get fragmented. Thus you will never have to defrag it. There's no performance gain at all. I even understand a defragmentation process can degrade an SSD.
  4. Stay away from the Ariane product. It's way (waaaaaaaaaay) overpriced and in all extends the PMDG version is a better product.
  5. Vector has (practically) nothing to do with landclass..... Landclass errors (mostly caused by errornous data in FSX itself) will be corrected with the LC packages.
  6. Gerard, Where can I download this switch tool?
  7. Being a v2 owner, I'm tempted to upgrade to v3. But on my system v2 is quite on the edge as to what my system can handle. Would be grateful if anyone can report on fps and VAS of v3 compared to v2.
  8. I think it has to do with the fact AS NE's lights consist of two parts. Part one are the floating lights above the scenery, Part two are the bitmaps placed on top of the scenery replicating the light reflection on the roads. These bitmaps might be custom made for the roads where they're used and I can image this takes some manual labor and could not be done automatically. This is just a guess, but from the little information available on the Aerosoft forum it seems plausible.
  9. Well, did my first quick tests last night. Took the VRS F/A-18 for a quick spin out of EBBR. Climbed up to FL350 and took a look around. First of all, it does look more immersive and complete than FTX Global lights. FTX Global lights tend to dissapear when you get above 5000~7000ft and the range where you can see the FTX lights is a lot less. I fly in real life quite a lot (more or less on a montly basis) so I've spend quite some time looking out of an aircrafts window into a dark night. The Aerosoft NE lights look a lot better and closer to reality than the FTX lights. Especially from a high altitude. My first impressions are that on a low level, the Aerosoft NE lights might be a bit..... much. Although I don't think it's too much. So in terms of adding to the immersion of a night flight; this is a GOOD product. It really enhances your night flying way beyond what FTX Global can do. When looking at the pricing model, I am quite concerned at how the costs will add up when wanting to buy the most significant countries. I recon every country/region requires manual work and therefor justifies additional money paid over a general product (like FTX Global), but regardless of the release schedule (which probably will mean it will take them a year or longer to release the most important area's), I have my doubts if many people will continu to pay for each (small.... Belgium is very small!) region to expand their night scenery. I think they better create a "Europe" package and a "USA" package and release it for a 25~35 euro price (for each package) which in the end will translate in more sold copies and thus a higher profit..... It looks like AS is trying to duplicate their success with AES, but this time I have my strong doubts if this business model will work.... In the end, from a quality and value added to my sim point of view I'm happy with my purchase and when they release The Netherlands (my home country) I will certainly also buy that, but if they maintain this business model, I'm not yet sure I'll continu to buy the packs...
  10. Out now. Screenshots look mighty impressive. Bought it and will test tonight. Will report back on my findings. http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?action=article_detail&s_supplier_aid=13014&s_design=DEFAULT&shopfilter_category=Flight+Simulation&s_language=english
  11. Once you've installed FTX Global, FTX Global Default is your new default. P3D default no longer exists.
  12. Who would ever buy that? If you're that desperate for a 76, just wait for the 9.99 sale of CS
  13. Well... at least 2 of my colleagues at a major airline maintenance division have been flight engineers and became aircraft system engineers after the 747 classics left our fleet. Of some others within the airline I work for, I know they were trained to become pilots.
  14. Yep. ASN will do all that. It's really an excellent weather program!
  15. I am quite sure I can generate an OOM at LGTS or any other airport for that matter... 4096x4096 clouded skies, LOD_Radius 8,5, PMDG 777, full blown AI traffic, etc etc... You can not expect to have an extensive scenery like LGTS and not seeing a VAS footprint. Like with all addons you have to keep your settings realistic. As stated above, I am very, VERY impressed by the small VAS usage of this airport. Especially when comparing it to other airports like for instance FT CYUL or FB KIAD.
  16. ASN for weather generation and briefing, PFPX for making a flightplan optimized for the particular weather...
  17. Speechless..... http://news.cnet.com/8301-10797_3-57617569-235/coolest-paper-airplane-ever-and-the-plane-nut-who-built-it-q-a/
  18. First impressions. Beyond excellent! Really... For me this scenery is an instant classic and the first nominee for the scenery of the year award. Detail: stunning. I can't begin to describe all the tiny details that are modeled. Performance: unbelievable! Even on my not-so-high-end system I get a steady 25 - 30 fps with the NGX, fairly high settings and a decent amount of AI traffic. At worst I saw a drop to 19 fps. VAS hasn't been above 3,2Gb during my first tests and that's with some REX4 clouded skies and the NGX with a HD livery. I will have to wait until the weekend to perform a full flight to or from this airport, but the first impressions are just simply outstanding. An absolute MUST BUY for everyone interested in flying in this region. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  19. Go get it guys! Screenshots are simply stunning! Will definitely buy it as soon as I get home tonight! http://en.shop.aerosoft.com/eshop.php?action=article_detail&s_supplier_aid=12809
  20. Excellent! Where can I download it? Link please?
  21. That's one of the reasons I haven't looked at ProATC. I am in no way interested to use it's flightplanner since I was very happy with FSCommander and now since its release, PFPX. I don't want to have to do copy-paste actions to get my flightplan accepted. Just point to the created flightplan and use it. ProATC also does not assign you a SID or STAR.
  22. I may add that the difficulty I experience with EZDOK is in combination with TrackIR.... Still... one of these days, I will take time to try again in making it work the way I'd like.
  23. Number one for me will be the ActiveSkyNext release for P3Dv2. I love it (understatement) in FSX, I am sure it will be heaven in P3D when combined with the volumetric clouds and fog... Secondly the PMDG NGX for P3Dv2, if only because I am very curious to learn how much PMDG will charge for something which is essentially the same product as I already have (and paid for) for FSX.
