  2. Howdy Folks! This past weekend I have been tinkering under the hood of the PC-12 and managed to tweak a few settings in relation to the Engine Indication System, ITT performance, Fuel Performance, and Electrical Indication. Here is a list of the changes: Engine Indication System: - Corrected the Fuel Quantity Display to display fuel weight to Pounds. Previously the quantity was displayed in Liters. - Corrected the Fuel Used Display to display fuel used in Pounds. Previously it was displayed in Liters. ITT Performance: - Adjusted the .air file ITT and EGT settings to match a more realistic behavior. ITT temps will drop off slowly, will respond the power settings and remain at a more realistic value during cruise climb. This also means that the ITT temps can and will react to higher field elevations as well as higher air temps. Part of the test for this was a take off from KPHX in 33C heat (real world weather). Enigine ITT peaked at 738C. As a reminder you are temp limited to 765C on takeoff and 720C during climb. Fuel Performance: - Adjusted the fuel flow scalar in the aircraft.cfg file to closely match the figures of the cruise performance charts for the PC-12. Indicated fuel flow in Pounds Per Hour will now be +/- 5-8PPH of the cruise charts. Electrical Indication: - The electrical system for the PC-12 is there, however, due to the way the overhead was modeled none of the switches seem to be adding much of an amp load. So in order to show than 7 amps of draw on the electrical indicators I added 47.5 amps to the electrical bus controlled by GEN1. So you will now have an indication over 50 amps of the electrical system until a more permanent solution is implemented by the folks at Carenado. That's all for now, I will be posting these changes to the team at Carenado for their observations and hopeful inclusion into a service pack. For now, those of you who wish to fly with these changes, the procedure will be the same for receiving Bert's avionics adjustments. PM me with your e-mail address and I will send along a zip file containing the two XML's for the EIS, and a revised .air and aircraft.cfg file. Thanks and happy flying!
  3. Looks like someone has been watching or has watched the Flight Video Productions PC-12 flight. B) Good job on the review and I agree with you on all points especially the one about the sounds. In fact I'm contemplating swapping in the sound package from the Flight1 PC-12.
  4. It's funny you mention that because the code for the fuel system on the PC-12 was directly written off their G1000 code and right below it they have an entry for it to read from the FSX values. It has just been remarked out of the gauge file. :blink:
  5. So after some mathematical figuring the reason the EIS is showing the wrong fuel quantity is that it is showing the fuel amount in liters not pounds. It's even coded in liters in the gauge file. I will be tweaking the EIS code for that one and I'm still digging around on the Electrical and ITT issues.
  6. Well after some initial investigations into IAS mode, it is actually working as it's supposed to. Just before takeoff I set 22000 feet into the altitude selector, mashed the throttles forward and gained some altitude. Once the aircraft was cleaned up and when I was at my desired climb speed, in this case for testing it was 150 KIAS, I switched on the autopilot and yaw damper and activated IAS. At this point I was climbing at 2000 FPM. The VSI started moving a little bit as the trims took over and I let go of the controls from there on the aircraft adjusted pitch to hold 150 KIAS and to test if I was imagining this I pulled the power back a little (while watching the power lever in the VC move with my saitek yoke) and the nose started to drop to maintain speed. By the time I was passing through FL200 my climb rate was at 900FPM and I was controlling the power of the engine. Carenado didn't cheat on this one, as I have looked at the gauge code for the autopilot and here is what it says: ((A:AIRSPEED SELECT INDICATED OR TRUE, knots))%!d!: %((A:Autopilot pitch hold ref, degrees))%!3.1f!:%((L:PitchRef_cont,number))% I'm actually quite chuffed with this.   7. Hello all, I wanted to make a post where everyone call poll together their observations on issues and bug found to see if we can get them fixed by Carenado or find a way to mend them on our own. I know I plan on personally tinkering with a few things to see if I can improve upon them. I feel that the PC-12 is a very good foundation and can, with a small amount of effort, be an excellent version for sim pilots to enjoy. These are items I have found upon my initial test flights that should be addressed: 1. Engine ITT values during climb/cruise are not increasing with altitude, instead they are decreasing. 2. Strobe switch on the overhead panel does not display "ON" when strobes are turned on. 3. Electrical system not modeled correctly. EIS display should show the generated output of the electrical system on DC bus A and B, while, the overhead panel should show the amperage draw as accessories and lighting are switched on. Presently both display 7 amps, irregardless of what is turned on. 4. RXP GNS config only includes ONE unit for the top 530. The second 530 is a Carenado default. (I am presently tweaking the panel config for dual RXP 530's) 5. Cabin lighting configuration, Cabin reading lights come on with the panel lights. This looks like it is down to the fact the interior model is textured on two different textures and one switch controls both of those textures. That is my findings as of now, I only have about an hour of test flights with her. Overall I'm impressed. I was a huge fan of the Flight1 PC-12 and this one with a few improvements can surpass it as the leader for FSX/P3D. Feel free to post you findings as well, hopefully we can get some fixes made.

I'm currently watching the last three remaining videos of the series and so far I can say that the experience has been brilliant! :yahoo: The quality and attention to detail in the video production is amazing and I'm loving the info overlays. I think the best part of this is the interaction between Ben and Josh in the cockpit of the Q400. Professional and candid all at the same time. If you are on the fence about this training, hop off and go for it. It is well worth the price, even if you have logged some hours in the Q400. Nice work A2S, looking forward to the future programs.

  13. Like many, the Boeing 777 was really the first aircraft that got me interested in aviation. Nothing is close or has come close to its size and abilities, and because of that, it really is a remarkable feat of engineering. Over the last several months my interests in aviation have move from general aviation back to commercial aviation. Much of this is due to the fact that I now work for a company that is producing major components for the CFM LEAP engines which will be powering the A320Neo and the 737 MAX and the Boeing 787 landing gear. So I have a big interest in the manufacture of aircraft. The other day I found a gem on YouTube that I would like to share with everyone. Back in the mid 1990's there was a documentary series about the construction of the 777. And the whole series is available to watch on YouTube. The series: 21st Century Jet - Making the Boeing 777 is approximately 30 parts, which is roughly 5 hours long and covers just about everything from the 777's conception to the first delivery. It's amazing to watch because you can see how some of the issues from the 777 development made its way into the 787.   17. The texture sizes for the Q400 are 2048x2048. The details are nice a crisp from a distance and up close.
  18. Oh boy has this become one of my favorites. Other than a few small details this one is finished! Those of you with a keen eye will notice the very slight reflection of the words "comfortably greener" on the fuselage next to the engines. I will be uploading this to AVSIM tonight and will alert everyone when it's available.
  19. I have seen a few requests for this particular paint in the forums. So I thought I would super quick break from my norm of the General Aviation artwork and take a stab at my first airliner paint since 2007. Since this is my first airline paint in years I thought I would get all of my ducks in a row first, which meant logos, colors, and reference photos. Now since I normally work at HD resolutions, not many offerings were available for logos at that size, so I made my own. What you have below is roughly three hours of design work wrapped up into a nice little wall paper before the official previews start. So, be prepared, Shrek is on his way.   20. Dimitri, First, let me respond by saying that nobody here means any disrespect and we are all greatly appreciative of your efforts put forth on the Q400. The amount of work involved in a project like this is huge undertaking and I know this from personal experience. Everyone has their own view on how things should be done or how they should look, and that is the beauty of our hobby. There is a lot of different talents out there that have their own ways of doing things. Since this was different from the norm we will have to adapt to the changes that we have been given. Some people like things to look glossy, others do not. I personally prefer things to be a dynamic combination of both and had to develop some methodology to create what create. Again it was just a different approach and we will have to adapt. We all give you our thanks for what you have brought to us. Ark, I am still tinkering on the glass textures when I have a free moment. They are, however, proving to be a bit tricky. If you send me a pm with your email, I can send along the shine cube map and the fresnel's I used in the effect above.
  21. From what I have seen, the Q400 only uses dynamic shine and the model is not set up for using any sort of alpha channel. I have played around with some of the dynamic shine files and produced a slightly more defined look, but nothing extravagant. Here is how it works: q400_shine.dds - This is the environmental reflection. This is designed using a cube map for a full three dimensional, 360 degree, environment. The Q400's default environment map was not set up properly by default so the effect is barely noticeable. You must set this to "cube map" when saving. I use nVidia photoshop tools, and there is an option in the saving menu to do this. q400_FR.bmp q400_invFR.bmp q400_shine.bmp The above files are the Fresnel Ramps. Essentially they are a gradient that controls the rate of the dynamic shine and it's width. Try using different types of gradients and colors and you can change they way the effect appears. These will not have a dramatic effect, but you will notice it slightly. The image below shows you what the q400 looks like after applying some of these changes using the Fresnel Ramps and Environment map I developed for the upcoming Flight1 King Air. The aircraft should have had alpha channels assigned and the textures should have been created using the .dds format. If the alpha channels were present the amount of control over the shine would be completely up to the repainter and the control over the environment reflection and the dynamic shine would have been enormous. Even if the textures were supplied by majestic with a white alpha channel and all we had to do was change it to a different shade of gray, that would have an acceptable way to do it. IMHO, the way the textures are formatted now, reminds me of FS2002.
  22. Under the Sensitivities and Null Zones tab of the Controller Assignments window in FSX, set your null zone for that axis to zero. You will have full control of the tiller after that.
  23. I just picked up my copy of the Real Air Lancair Legacy yesterday. I must say this is a fantastic little plane. Sleek, simple, and it sure is fast. Great job Real Air! I personally have been interested in knowing more about the Lancair Legacy since I knew it was a kit plane. A week or so ago I was looking for a blog style web site that outlined the build process and I stumbled upon this site: http://www.lancairlegacy.com. The web site follows the progress of Don Barnes, who's aircraft is included in the RA Legacy package (N508DB), from day one all the way to final paint. It's an excellent read, plus there are tons of links to other people who have built their own Legacy's, discussion forums, ect.. all chock full of information. Check it out and I guarantee by the time your done reading it you will almost smell the resin in the cockpit.
