  1. Peter, As a generally accepted rule, you shouldn't use any 'overclocking programs' to do this for you, it can cause problems (As i found out shortly after getting into it with my new PC). Look around on sites that have support forums or the like for the Asus mobos, and I am sure there will be a guide as to the proper way to clock your setup. I found one on clunk.org, and it took me a bit of research to figure out all of the tems and nomenclature. But, setting up a stable overclock and stress testing the CPU and components on your own is the best way to ensure that you are stabile, as well as ensure longevity and overall pc health...HTH
  2. Yes, Ryan. You should re-test your overclock. I have the same issue every time I try to run an overclock on my P67-UD3-B3 that is even the slightest bit unstable. I know of some users that complain about the 'cold-boot' issue that plagues the Gigabyte mobos, and I am not sure if a solution has been found as of yet. But, just 3 or 4 days ago, my computer boot-looped on startup after a few weeks of relatively trouble free operation. Only thing I changed was bumping up the multiplier/vcore and doing a quick 2hour prime run. Once I got it back in order, I re-ran the prime test, and it failed within 2.5 hours. Upped vcore a bit, failed again, this time with a blue screen (prior failure was a rounding error). So, dropped speed to 4.7ghz, set vcore a bit lower than I had it for 4.8, ran prime for 12+ hours with no problems. Now, not only is my sim MUCH smoother, but I have had no boot-loops or issues to speak of. Also, the halt-state thingy is not what I have set in my bios...it is c3/c6 or something that downclocks it when there is no load present...I leave c1e disabled...of course, other more qualified people on this forum could probably shed more light on it for you than me....I am still learning lol
  3. ...And how do you go about it? Right now, I have the same ram as Ryan, but can only run it at 1600; if I try to run it at 1866, it fails prime instantly. So, should I set the speed back to 1333 and drop the other settins one notch each? Eg. instead of 9-10-9 27 change it to 8-9-8-something??
  4. Thanks for the replies! I will try the TBM sometime tomorrow as I am limited time-wise today...and if it is, say the ram, is it that my ram is too slow?
  5. ooops sorry I meant video card bottlenecking my cpu lol my apologies!!
  6. Hello all. I am wondering if there is any chance that my video card is creating a bottleneck in my system. My specs are: i7 2600k oc'd to 4.7ghz gigabyte p67-ud3-b3 gigabyte gtx 560ti oc 8gb corsair ram @1600 9-10-9-27 corsair H70 cooler HAF 922 case pc power and cooling 750watt psu seagate 1tb hd ...I have essentially a stable oc, but i occasionally see black squares on the ground while panning, and especially while panning around aircraft they appear where the lights are. My cfg is primarily stock, save for the highmemfix and disable preload. I have my TBM at 100. I also can't reall do more than 27fps locked; if i go higher, it stutters badly. So, I am wondering is the video card the weak link here? Or should I go to a water cooled setup? I just think I should be able to get a bit more (not a lot more) out of it...thanks in advance!
  7. ...Thanks for the tip; It worked!! I must have missed something the first time around, but now all is good. Much appreciated.
  8. ...I understand that; I was asking, because I have the Gigabyte GA P67a-ud3-b3 mobo, with a 2600k, and 8gb of vengeance 1866-speed ram timed at 9-10-9-27, and 1.5v. My 'puter is oc'd to 4.6, stable. If i attempt to change any memory setting in the bios, the computer will not boot. Or, it will bootloop. Or, it won't even post. Or, it will sprout legs and run out the door screaming bloody murder. But it will not allow me to make manual timing and speed settings in the bios without throwing a hissy fit. So, that is why I asked Ryan specifically since his setup is **kinda** close to mine hardware-wise...
  9. Ryan, do you have your memory timings set at 'auto', or have you set them manually in the bios? I am afraid to touch mine, so they are all still at 9-9-9-24 1333....
  10. +1!!!! Bring it on...and the more aircraft sounds it supports, the better. Like my MAIW stuff; my F16s sound like learjets. No good.
  11. I'm not sure what this 'VOD' guy is talking about, but my KLGB has mips and looks great! No shimmers or jaggies or fractals or anything. 'VOD' must have a problem with HIS setup somewhere. Definitely NOT something a 'SERIOUS' simmer would mistakenly blame on a freeware developer that has given much time and effort to a freeware product that was free. Yeah. Free. And very, very good freeware. Thank you, Shez. It is much appreciated. FWIW, not a single other scenery you have ever made has been missing the mips. Oh...that might just be that I have my setup proper and correct. Since, after all, I am a serious simmer. LOL. Sometimes this FS stuff makes me laugh.
  12. http://www.flytampa.org/....Bought it this morning...and it is OUTSTANDING. EDIT: sorry i was sooo excited i didnt see the post about ten below this sorry
  13. Thanks for the reply, chickster. I am not sure that I want to add more lines, I would really like to simply replace the old flightplans with the newer, more accurate ones for whatever airlines AIG and others supply. I wish I knew an easy way.
  14. While this topic is active, I have a question too...Does anyone know how to update the flightplans for Traffic 2005? I always see the AIG and other flightplans regularly added to the avsim library, but I am unsure how to use these in traffic 2005. Has anyone done this? I looked in the Traffic 2005 folder inside FS, and the flightplans seem to be formatted different than normal. I don't really mind the semi-crummy looking planes, but It would be nice to update the flightplans....
  15. HAHAHAAAAAAA...I must have missed this one while perusing the forum; So...let me get this straight: FS9 came out in 2003, so it isn't any good anymore? My car is a 2003. So I should sell it because it isn't the latest and greatest? Humph. They still make plenty of parts for it, though....
  16. Yeah...Oh well. :( We FS9'ers don't count anymore. :(
  17. Agreed. And there are a lot of FS9ers ###### as well that don't frequent the forums. I know this. For a fact. Don't ask how or why, It just is what it is. We must live with it. And it sucks. Bring on Flight!!
  18. I find it very difficult to believe that X-plane has a larger **addon-purchasing** user base than FS9. Most of the people (all 2 of them) that I know using X-plane would NEVER buy any kind of addon plane. They just do it for fun. And they have told me that. "Dude, like, yeah man...like so why do you like add all that expensive stuff to your flying game..." ......What an insult.
  19. Will someone please enlighten me as to the 'financial' considerations that go into making (or not making) an addon for a particular platform? I must not be getting it...I was always under the impression that these aircraft and sceneries were created by a developer from scratch? So, it isn't like they are 'putting money into' a given project....just 'time'. Time, and effort. So, what it boils down to, is that the developer no longer feels that the FS9 community is worth his or her 'time' or 'effort' to produce a product. I guess 'time' really IS money.......And to say that a developer cannot produce aircraft for one platform (fs9) that are 'quality'??? How about the last 4 or 5 releases, Carenado? The BEST GA AIRCRAFT I HAVE IN MY HANGAR for FS9. Biiig whooop. No bloom, bumpmaps, rivets, 3d knobs. WHO CARES! Ever since FSX came around, the FS2004 Carenado aircraft have jumped in quality significantly! ...But, this is a decision made by carenado, and is to be respected. Thank you for all of the fine aircraft, sorry for blowin' off steam here...
  20. Yes. We do need the new F33 and as many upcoming releases for FS9. That's all there is to it. If they make it, we will buy it. Just like the FSX folks. But, I won't beg. They make, I buy. Simple.
  21. So recently, I have added the 172N, 172N Float model, and both Cessna 185 releases to my hangar; And I am thoroughly enjoying all of them! Thank you carenado!...........So, the big question is....will there be versions of the Bonanza, and possibly the Caravan, released for FS9? I know that at some point, Carenado will cease FS9 development, but it sure would be nice to have a couple more before the 'last call'....Since my FSX transition will probably not happen 'til next year, I will be flying FS9 until at least then...at which time I will be re-purchasing ALL of the Carenado stuff first...I know that there are FAR more sales in FSX now, but the FS9 crowd are die-hard and *hopefully* will back me when I say that Carenado hasn't abandoned us yet, and *hopefully* won't abandon us just yet.....
  22. I want them too for FS9...and have sent e-mails as well....we will see what happens...
  23. It is an outstanding rendition of the Saratoga, as one would expect from Carenado. Probably one of the best releases to date from them!
