  1. ahhh.. OK.. I read something a while back where a developer was talking about making a new 64bit version of the Concorde. I wonder what ever happened with that... I would also like to see a P3D v4 compatable concorde.
  2. I don't have it. But I have seen it in person. Here's the deal, the resolution is not the best so if you using this and reading a lot of text or having a stretched panel would bother you, I would say go with something else. Now If its ONLY for flight sim and you don't fly VC much, then Go for it. Having a super wide screen is cool for flying around.
  3. Very true. But wont it be nice when they are the same... Maybe another 20 years. Lol... Whats the reason you haven't moved to V4.4? LM have really made some great progress. Nope, the Sony rep told me OLED's have an issue with image retention and are NOT recommended for gaming.
  4. This is my problem too. I have win10 on only my laptop which i turn on maybe once every 3 weeks and when I use it win10 loads and then for 45min its updating itself. Very annoying. Thats why I haven't switched my desk top from 7. I turn it on and can use it right away. Laptop I have to turn it on well before I actually need to use so its ready for me. ITs always updating. Can that be turned of to only update when I want it too??? Like after I am done using it...Microsoft are you listening???
  5. While the HDR on my 55" 4k Sony tv shows an improvement in contrast/lighting over my 38" Dell I wouldn't say it was earth shattering in P3D. Now if your talking movies, The Sony 4k is the way to go. The X1 processor allows for fast motion with ZERO motion blur, like a plasma. You will never look at a samsung again without grinning. In the end the 55" was too big for a computer monitor and I chose the 38". I still stand by that choice, but I was surprised the 38 was not a brighter display w/ HDR. especially at the price point it was at. But give it a few years.
  6. That's correct, 750D and maybe both of those statements are true. I do however have the original H110. 4 yrs old now, no problems as of yet. (fingers crossed for no leaks). The newer version I think is H115 may have longer hoses and may reach the front.
  7. Yes. The resolution is 3840 x 1600. Basically its like a 47" 4k monitor cut in half. Which is another reason I bought it over a 34", more resolution. If you do go for a 34" do NOT get the 1080p ones to save money, the image will be stretched and text will look horrible. They have one at my local Costco and they look nothing like my 38". But like others have said if you can go look at a few before you buy, then you can make up your on mind. What I did was bring a laptop with me and plug in to different size monitors to make a better decision.
  8. Well so much for trying to mount the rad in the front. NOT gonna happen. Hose is not near long enough for that. Just going to keep it up top.
  9. Do you have a TV now that you can try just for fun. I have a RTX2080 and a Dell 38" monitor. These monitors were made for flight sim if you ask me, and the video card will have no problems running it.
  10. I went from (3) 24" displays to a 38" display, its really nice not having the bezels. But even with the 38" it is still narrower but worth it. FPS was about the same.
  11. I have it pulling warm air out through the top as to aid in all the warmer air rising. However Martin is right, it would be more effective to mount it in the front as then you are pulling cooler outside air thru the rad. If your main goal is maximizing cooling for the cpu at some expense of a warmer case. But again with a case this size you will have no problems with heat. Just for a fun experiment I might move my rad up front and see what kind of numbers I get. Then having (3) 140mm fans up top might be very effective anyway.
  12. I have the same 280 size radiator and 750D case. Just mount it up top. Along with the twin 140mm fans in the front and 120mm on the bottom it will feed enough air through it, you will have NO problems keeping it cool. I have 11 fans in my 750D (including the 3 on the RTX2080) and it makes as much noise as a modern laptop and still keeps everything cool. My 4790k delidded running at 4.8 in P3d only hits 60c after an hour of flying. Also I know there expensive but I use the corsair MagLev fans and they have NO vibration at all.
  13. Glad to hear he is doing better. I too enjoy his many posts of all his flights. Someone get this guy a laptop so he can get back to work. (Flying).
  14. You will enjoy that also.. I have a 55" sony 4k HDR tv that I fly on some times, and game with. I also installed a 5.1.2 dolby atmos sound system. So as you can image playing Battlefront II is quite the experience. Back on topic... in the end I decided the 55 was a little big sitting on my desk in front of me so I use that for my theater room and use the 38" dell for gaming/simming.
  15. I think this was just a misunderstanding.. no harm no foul... I appreciate all the feed back on the topic.
  16. So I was thinking of upgrading my 4790k to a 9600k. But you say you noticed a difference going to the 9700k from the 9600k. Maybe I should just jump to the 9700k then.
  17. I didnt have any problems with the Z97 booting to an M.2 drive, but all I did was image the old SSD to the new SSD. Despite the specs being nearly identical (I think 100mb/s difference), I saw a good little boost in windows loading. So clearly SATA was a slight bottleneck vs. M2 drives. The PCI-e X4 drive is faster yet, enjoy, they really scream!
  18. Sure but if I go from a 4790k 4 cores @ 4.8 to a 9600k with 6 cores at 4.8 is there really gonna be that big a difference in scenery load times?
  19. If you can move up the the 38" size ultrawide, I highly recommend it. I just bought the Dell 38" and its amazing for Prepar3d. The 34" is a touch small IMO.
  20. Thanks for the reply... That's what I thought too.. However I bought a much faster SSD then my old SSD and I saw NO difference in load time. Regarding P3D 4.4 Just to clearify the blurries are NOT under normal flying conditions, the blurries were part of a test of advancing the time rate to produce blurries and see how quickly the scenery can recover with 4, 6 or 8 cores, as a difference to see how much more cores assist with loading times only. (not a FPS test in anyway).
  21. This question is similar to another one I asked recently about hard drive speed but wanted to keep this one specific to the processor core counts. So here goes. Recently I started flying faster jets and when getting lower to the ground the dreaded blurries show up. My question is IF anyone is interested in trying. Pick a saved flight, ORBX or Megascenery is fine and record the time it takes to load up the scenery. Then go into the BIOS and enable only six cores. Pick the same flight plan to load and record the load time. (If you only have 6 cores to start, go to the next step) Then go into the BIOS and enable only four cores. Pick the same flight plan to load and record the load time. If you want to take it a step further hit advance up to 4x for 10 seconds once the sim is loaded and ready for flight (just after take off) then back to normal and see how fast the sim can recover. I'm betting the 8 core folks can recover pretty quickly. I would love to get actual numbers of improvements for these tests. I have conducted the same tests with my 4 core processor and going down to TWO cores is a massive hit in load times. But I'm unable to verify how well this scales. Depending on the results I see I may be forced to upgrade...Thanks for anyone willing to try this out. By the way anyone having some crazy 16 core monster and wants to try this out let us know the results of that too.
  22. Recently I decided it was taking too long for scenery to load before my flight. Currently I use a 500GB M.2 drive with a read/write speed around 500MB/sec. So I decided if I bought a shiny new NVME pci x4 drive with 2500MB/sec. I could possibly see a x5 fold increase in loading times. So after imaging the new drive and swapping it in place of the old I got my trusty timer out and ran the same saved scenery and tada. Wanna know how much faster it was...... 0 seconds..... I bench marked the drive, it IS 5 times faster then the old, but I have a constraint somewhere. So am I really waiting on my processor to ahem... process??? Thoughts???
  23. Since you said you have the whole US on there, I would pull the case apart from the portable drive and install the drive into your computer if you have an extra bay.... Or just purchase and install a new drive and image the USB3 drive to the new internal drive. (It will be MUCH faster then copy and paste). IF you cant get a SSD big enough get the WD Black drive they spin faster and will help with load times.
  24. I just upgraded my GTX970 to a RTX2080 along with a new dell 38" ultrawide. Could not be happier. Anyone who has a 970 know's the weather and lighting just crushes that card. No more problems with the 2080.
