Agreed. Porpoising is usually the result of a poor aircraft. Try re-installing first, just in case anything has become corrupted. If that doesn't help, then bite the bullet and get a PMDG or similar. My QOTSII doesn't do anything strange like that.

I have experienced this a few times when I have accidentally changed STD to "live" QNH, thinking 10000' was in operation when actually it was much lower and I had been told to descend to a Flight Level lower than 10000'. But as Ray says, you are a long time user, so surely you would know?

You state the obvious. You don't understand.

And go without AI aircraft? -
No separate throttle. I use one of the buttons. The one I allocated to " decrease throttle quickly" or something like that. It has 15 buttons, just a question of remembering which is which, once allocated. It is a very solid Joystick, and having got it working flawlessly, I am very pleased, even though it is quite pricey.

Crossed wires! I know that perfectly well. I was referencing the Churchill photo, with the "Charge" quote under it. Just seen this post now, a year later.

That one is 6 times the price of a Logitech and 3 times the price of the TM. (Locally, that is).

Just to let you know, I have now resolved the problem, (almost). To be sure, I uninstalled everything then reinstalled the TM driver, re booted and then plugged in the TM USB. Using a USB v2 port. The extra joystick choices are still there but at least the Thrustmaster is now permanently recognised and working perfectly. What was happening with the disconnect problem was in the Power options, where a setting hidden deep inside was shutting off power to the USB hub. (This was separate from the usual Device manager USB settings where you turn off the option to shut down a USB). So, all good, which is just as well as the Logitech is completely out of stock at all local retailers.

My new AIG awarness regarding *.bgl and *.aigfp

I have tried to get AICompanion to work without success. It will pick up the flights but nothing that I have done so far will get it to show the Logos or flight numbers. STB for all its faults, does everything automatically. AICompanion leaves a lot for the user to set up without assistance. -
I have now got my new Thrustmaster T 16000M joystick set up and working. (I installed the driver that came with it). However, it has had some unforeseen and unwanted consequences. Firstly, the Mouse scroll wheel didn't work anymore. I resolved that by enabling advanced mouse controls in the Other Controls box. The other problem is that I now have a selection to choose from in the boxes where you set buttons and axes. Whereas it used only to show my old Logitech 3d Pro as the only controller, it now shows: 0 -Mouse yoke, 1-Mouse look, 0- Mouse drag pan and 1 -T.16000M. I can't see a way to set a default joystick. How can I get it to show only the T.16000M? I tried unticking the Advanced mouse controls but then I can't scroll again, and it made no difference to the menu.. I am stumped.

I know my system cannot compare to yours ! but I have been running V5.4.9.28482 with AS/ASCA and AI (FSUIPC limit 50/150) since it came out and nothing untoward has happened regularly. Of course, I have had the odd blip, but all in all it has behaved admirably. I just hope for whatever is left of your sanity, that this downshift will help. Keep us posted, we follow with bated breath. -
"It works fine, but needed manual adjustment of paths on my place before I had all the logos." I have downloaded it and it reports the planes correctly but also have no logos or call signs. Where did you find those? I will probably get there in the end but a bit of help will save time and effort!!

I have been using Super Traffic Board for several years. Recently, it has been giving false information and I wanted to contact a forum or the suppliers. It seems as if they no longer exist as all the links I found are dead ends. Have they gone out of business, does anyone know? Thanks

That was the one reason I went with P3D when I left 32bit MS behind, their commands were all "foreign".
-
That is not what I read on the PMDG site. Happy to be proven wrong.
-
That's surely an age thing.
-
No. My PMDG 747 is not compatible and never will be.

All suggestions are always welcome. (Otherwise, what is the point of posting here?) I have gone for the best I can afford and which is in stock. The Logitechs had a varying life. My first one lasted about 6 years, the last one about 4. So if the Thrustmaster lasts for 6 to 8 years, it will probably outlast me. At least I will be able to move around airports without too much problem. It is not a video driver problem. I have had three different versions, including an old one from last year, no difference.

I have a Logitech 3d Pro joystick, now about 3 years old. Just recently I have been experiencing problems with taxi manoeuvres. The plane (PMDG 747-400) pulls slightly to the right when taxiing and has to have opposite left rudder to correct it. The calibration screen shows that when the steering/rudder is straight, the Joystick is slightly off centre, to the right. I have done all the expected things: deleted P3D.cfg, removed Joystick from Device manager and re-installed, tried to calibrate in FSUIPC and changed the USB port but none of it has fixed the problem. The funny thing is that I have at least now, after all the attempts, got full movement of the plane's rudder. Is there anything I have missed, or is it time to save for a new Joystick? Thanks, Ian.

My "favourite" are the companies that, when you phone them, ask you first to enter your ID number or birthday numbers but then when you are put through, the person on the other end asks for it all again.
