  1. As long as the next version of FS doesn't get that dumbed-down treatment like the OS's got. I like Vista, but it wants to do too much for me. Windows 7 is the same. "You seem to be trying to lean the mixture. Are you sure? Continue?"
  2. Looking forward to a few panel shots! This is a definite buy when it's released. Oh, and I demand a good VC, don't ever use a 2d unless absolutely necessary.
  3. Just to be clear, no FSUIP is necessary to configure the extra throttle quad. It's in your FSX control setup menu. I have it set up that way, I don't even have FSUIP. Just make sure you are editing the correct quadrant. They both report X,Y, and Z axis. It's not hard at all.
  4. Oh, that's what I did. It doesn't want all the numbers and slashes for a name, and when I name it Godmode, it doesn't do anything. It's an empty folder.
  5. I just woke up and I"m dense. How doyou create a directory?
  6. Facinating. I have 6 gigs. I usually don't have a memory monitor thing working while I run the sim. Honestly, it's the first time I've ever seen it. I am new to the TrackIR system though.
  7. You can add a second throttle quadrant. that's what I did. It works great! $50 is fairly cheap too.
  8. I wish I could get a pic! I was flying over Van Nuys airport, Track IR5, DX10 preview on (what else is pertinant?) when I looked out the right window of my Carenado 182Q I saw the Microsoft Flight Simulator X splash screen displayed mirror image on the window glass. :( It is a brief blip, but it occurred three or four times, just brief flashes. Would this be a DX10 issue? I'm using my 9800GT video card on 32 bit textures, uh, Windows 7 64 bit....It's not a terrible problem, just weird. Curious if there is a reason.
  9. Wow that was great! Thanks for posting it. I'm off to explore the Van Nuys airport and area now....
  10. I like steam guages and I can not lieYou other brothers can't denyThat when a plane walks in with an itty bitty dashAnd round things in your faceYou get sprungWanna pull up toughCuz you notice that panel was stuffedDeep in the guages she's wearingI'm hooked and I can't stop staringOh, baby I wanna get with ya And take your pictureMy homeboys tried to warn meBut that panel you gotMake Me so oldy
  11. Huh. I've never seen it. But I'm not one to post profanity, questionable stuff, etc. so I assume most sites have very similar rules, and I didn't bother to read them. Kevin H.
  12. I'm not seeing what you guys are seeing. I did the test three times. First time in "Fair Weather". No problems. Second time, I used real world weather which is currently 19 degrees f, clear skies. no problems.Third time real world weather, but I added a solid overcast, two miles visibility. No problems. In all three flights, I ended up at 9,000' 21" manifold pressure, 2400 rpm, Approx 110 knots indicated. The carb heat worked to slow the engine, and affect the altitude or climb rate. I applied carb heat a couple times during the climb in each scenario, and after I got stabilized in cruise at 9,000'. The engine was producing proper power all the way. If it means anything, I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and I have SP1 and SP2.Are you guys flying in dense cloud? Are you using add on cloud packs? I'm all stock except for the Carenados.
  13. Huh. I will have to check mine. I haven't had it but a week or two, and I haven't had it up that high yet.
  14. I got my Track IR 5 for Christmas, along with Caranado 182Q, and a Piper Archer II. I'm waiting for the Beechcraft next year. A buddy of mine used to own one, and I'm going to go down to his house, set up my computer and stuff and let him relive his glory days.
  15. I have my PPL with Instrument priviledges, and went all through the groundwork for ground instructor, commercial, and instrument instructor. I didn't finish the flying part for commercial. I stopped a few hours short. I use the sim for keeping my head in the clouds both figuratively, and in the sim. I love flying in the clouds.Edit: I forgot. I went to the Ottumwa Iowa part 141 flight school, better known as college. KOTM. I finished up in 1994.
  16. Can you simply leave the yoke plugged in? How about plugging it in before bootup? This doesn't necessarily sound like a W7 issue, but I don't know. . I have W7 64 bit and I don't ever unplug the yoke. No problems.
  17. I've never bought any payware until just a couple of days ago. Two Carenado beauties. I could NOT believe the difference! Great work Fernando! I hope to squeeze a few more of your airplanes out of my budget! Looking forward to that Beechcraft 36!
  18. My wife is Polish, and the food is wonderful! I'm a lucky guy.Happy Holy days to all.
  19. Check your passenger and fuel load?Wait- slow roll to the left or extreme yaw?
  20. Windows 7 is a better choice than Vista given the amount of memory you have. If you are indeed running Vista, don't wait. Update.
  21. Also, clouds are shown above ground level (AGL) whereas the airport is shown above sea level. So if your clouds are at 300' like the metar shows, you add that to 3,021' to find out what your altimeter will show when you reach the clouds. You'll encounter clouds at 3,321' (few, not a ceiling), 5,021' (scattered, still not a ceiling), and 13,021 (ceiling, must be IFR above this altitude)' above this particular airport. It is a pretty calm day at those flight level altitudes you mention to only have 1-20kts. It is not unusual to have 40-60 kts at those altitudes. Or worse.
  22. My answer belongs in the "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME" category.I don't run AV at all. I'm on the internet, I download files, stream videos, etc. I'm behind my wireless router (hardware firewall) and have the Windows firewall turned on, I think. I don't really care, I must say. I bought two new computers in the last 18 months, each set up as a typical "dumb Windows user" using all defaults, no AV, just to see how long it would last before I got an infection. The typical theory is a naked computer will last somewhere between 4 seconds or 4 minutes before getting infected on the internet. It's been all that time and no infections of any type. I run port scans occasionally, and they report my machines as "invisible" so I guess so far it's all good. Machines tested in this manner are two Vista machines, one W7 RC machine, two XP machines, and of course all the linux machines are not running any AV. Especially beneficial is running the XP machines in AV-free mode as it runs WAY better without dragging around all that ball and chain software. I took my Acer Aspire 10" (one of the XP machines) to a nearby town and while waiting for the kids to come out from the church, I searched around and found unsecured wireless available and used it. When I got home, I downloaded some scanners and malware finders, and of course it came up empty. The wireless router is a hardware firewall, so no harm no foul. I've actually been hoping to get an infection somewhere, just so I can properly end my experiment. But until then, the experiment goes on unending into the future. I have no fear, as I enjoy reformatting and reinstalling OS's and software and do it on a regular basis.
  23. http://adds.aviationweather.gov/winds/This will allow you to look at winds and several altitudes. I don't know if it goes to Europe, though.
  24. Quick explanation is the heading indicator runs on a mechanical gyro, which, when one turns, climbs, or any flight other than perfectly flat and level, will cause a creeping error that compounds as time goes on. Reset by pushing "D" every fifteen minutes or more often in turbulence.
