  1. I don't think you can load default FSX plans into the FMC. They need to be in PMDG format. You can create and save plans as 'Co routes' from the CDU.
  2. £83,170.00! For that kind of money you could hire a RW first officer to sit next to you for a couple of years. :(
  3. As another first time soon-to-be customer of FS2Crew can I also ask a newbie question? I looked at some tutorials for the FS2Crew MD11 and it seemed to suggest that the start-up process is all time-based ie beginning 45 mins before departure to simulate a real turn-around process. Although this adds realism is there a way to bypass this and do a quick start from cold and dark while still using all the FS2Crew preflight functionality?ThanksGraeme
  4. How do I uninstall the aircraft? and then do I just need to reinstall just the original and SP1c?
  5. When I try to install the SP1c for 800/900 I get an error saying that the previous version is incompatible and needs to be uninstalled. The 600/700 update seems to install OK.I am currently running with SP1b.
  6. I am expecting delivery of Saitek yoke and rudder pedals today or tomorrow. Along with the 2nd tutorial coming out, I`m really looking forward to an NGX packed weekend! Also looking forward to FS2Crew coming along soon too.Graeme
  7. I agree that for a shorter runway a higher thrust is required. But my understanding of V1 is the speed at which a safe RTO can still be made based on remaining runway length. VR on the other hand is of course the safe takeoff speed and rotation point. If those definitions are right I don't see why both these quite different conditions are always met at exactly the same time and hence V1 and VR are always the same. Put simply why bother with a V1 speed if it is always the same as VR?
  8. I noticed some differences between the default values in Topcat for weight limits and the PMDG values. However just search Youtube (NGX topcat) and you will find a tutorial where the guy explains which valuest to use to match the PMDG.Everything in mine now agrees except the stab trim which never does.I have another related question though. In the PMDG FMC V1 and VR are always essentially the same value. I assumed that this was due to the FMC not accounting for runway length. I assumed that Topcat would do this. Although Topcat does appear to be accounting for runway length in the V speed calculation it still gives a V1 and VR about the same. I imagined that for a short runway that in order to stop safely after RTO that a much lower V1 speed than VR would be required.Hopefully someone can clarify this.
  9. I just started to use Topcat for fuel planning and so have been paying more attention to fuel weights. I also found this (from memory I though the difference was around 400lbs). I would be interested in an answer to this too.
  10. I have never given a name to my routes. The FMC should generate a default name like EGBBEGPH01.
  11. There is a hidden button somewhere near the autothrottle for TO/GA thrust. I haven't used it, just remember seeing it on Youtube
  12. I would doubt it. Incidentally I did read somewhere in that in the RW NGX that the overhead panel operates on a dark state under normal conditions, except for the window heat lights which burn continuously throughout the flight and hence burn out more often than anything else.Graeme
  13. If you check this forum, it seems like this question has been asked almost everyday.
  14. I have a question regarding if autoland is available for all ILS approaches (RW and in the sim). While landing in low vis at PAEI last night I configured for an autoland which I don't use very often. I didn't get a LAND3 announced at the appropriate point and ended up disconnecting at minimums and landing manually. Now I don't know if I just missed something in the procedure, but it got me thinking about Cat II/III landings and perhaps if some ILS approaches don't give LAND3 because they aren't certified for it. I did some searching online and now understand a bit more about the complex criteria of Cat II/III operations. So I understand that Cat I/II/III and sub-variants are related to the visibility minimums i.e. RVR and also the serviceability of the airfield equipment and that Cat III A,B (and C when/if it becomes certified) operations at minimums require full autoland due to the lack of visual references. But I couldn't find an answer to whether or not there are different grades of ILS certification i.e. which might not be accurate enough to allow a safe autoland (regardless of weather conditions). If that is the case how would a pilot know from the charts if he could use autoland or not.Secondly I looked at some charts from UK and US. On the UK charts including major runways like Heathrows there is only mention of Cat I/II i.e. no Cat III. On the US charts I couldn't find any mention of runway Cat's. I assume the stated minimums infer which category the approach is certified to. But why is Cat III not mentioned on the UK charts? And finally if there are differences if there are cases where certain ILS approaches do not support autoland is this included in the NGX and hence explain which I appeared to experience last night?Hopefully someone with some RW knowledge can help me here. ThanksGraeme
  15. I had the same issue on my first flight after Sp1b too. My landing wasn't a 'greaser' but don't think it was hard enough to cause a crash. Have the damage limits been changed in the cfg?
  16. Can someone update me on how many videos AOA have released so far?I am planning to purchase the series but I was waiting to see if they picked up the pace of release as they indicated. Is this the case?
  17. FCOM 1. Performance dispatch section. Endless tables covering weight, runway conditions, wind, temperature, gradient corrections etc etc. etc..... Enjoy!
  18. I have also noticed in my first flights with the 600 that the 'bleed trip off' lights are illuminated when I start from cold and dark. I need to use the trip reset and all is fine. Didn't have this with the 800. Any ideas on this?
  19. Sounds like the aspect ratio issue that RSR describes in this post http://forum.avsim.net/topic/352190-quick-read-on-a-few-items/A simple fix
