  1. Turn up your global texture resolution in FSX Settings. I had the same problem at first, though not as bad.
  2. I'm assuming that was sarcasm... "The combined space of all computer hard drives in the world does not amount to even one yottabyte, but was estimated at approximately 160 exabytes in 2006."
  3. I totally get what you're saying, and I understand PMDG's situation in all of this. In no way am I upset with PMDG's style. I've been patiently waiting every day and read 90% of the comments on here. I definitely don't condone much of the behaviour I see on this forum with the self-entitlement some people have. I wish, along with everyone else that we this bird could be released and we could all live happily ever after. I realize this is not yet the case, so I choose to keep waiting. But I do see why people choose to whine and complain and ask for updates. Entitled to or not, people like to be informed. And i understand that we'd be bored by updates that talk about the lines of code and calculations. What I see as a feasible update though is maybe "400 bugs found in beta testing. 80 have been fixed so far," or something to that effect. i think the majority of people are just looking for anything, not necessarily something incredibly detailed. But as I said, I see both sides of the coin and understand why PMDG runs itself the way they do.
  4. I read briefly the other post on my phone... I think I had a similar problem... i have the yoke, quadrant, and rudder pedals and it worked great everytime on multiple computers. I built a new one and it still worked great. Then one night it just wouldn't work. I could get it to work for maybe a minute, then it stopped working. I tried a bunch of things, like driver updates, uninstall drivers, defrag, everything i could think of to fix it. I did some reading and it ended up being a power problem. I have a 750W power supply and it's never affected anything other than this time. Basically I had too many things plugged into one hub. I've heard an external hub will work, but for me I just have everything plugged in on different internal hubs and now it works.Hope this helps. I thought mine was broken, but I kept trying to fix it because I knew I had not touched anything since it worked last...
  5. I actually don't think that's what it means... It's been the trend to make an announcement after the fact. On Tuesday Ryan told us they pushed it back one more day to tie up a few loose ends, and they were now shooting for late Tuesday night. Just because we were told that they kept pushing it back one week at a time until this point doesn't mean it will take one week from Monday. Personally, I believe it's in wide-beta and they just haven't made an announcement. Why would they? They tell us one thing and it gets blown way out of proportion by the forum so that everybody has false expectations. I've been waiting for this thing quietly and patiently, and I'll continue to do so. This thing is bigger than me and my scope of knowledge, so all I can do is wait until the experts say it's ready.
  6. Maybe it's a Canadian instinct? My gut told me that we were in beta since about late March-early April. That's when they said they planned on starting beta but they pushed it back to clean some things up. They also said then that they would let us know after it entered beta. Anyway, I also think it should be in the wider team's hands by this weekend. I'm crossing my fingers for a Monday release, because it's my birthday and this would be the best present, but realistically I'm thinking maybe the week after that... which is still a great belated present.
  7. All the features of this aircraft aside, i'm committed to buy just because of that Westjet livery. Thumbs up gentlemen,
  8. I like the 700 personally... don't know why. Maybe the goldilocks complex? Not too big, not too small, but just right.
  9. I don't think anything I'm about to add hasn't already been said, but I'll say it anyway. First off, I've never had the opportunity to pilot a real plane, so I'm not here to say what's easy or hard, or is FSX is realistic. I think everyone has ran through the "pilots have heart attack and you're the only one remotely knowledgable to land this plane scenario." Could a person who plays flight simulator land a real plane? Probably not. A person who immerses themselves in flight simulator might be able to do a decent enough job. Before I started making flights in FS, I would have had no idea about any aircraft systems, location of instruments, "what does this button do?", etc. "Does this put down the landing gear?" "No, that's flaps" "Flaps... hmm... let's dive at the runway at about 200mph because planes go fast right? we'll pull the flap lever all the way down")I digress... my point is someone who has learned the processes and features (albeit limited) of the aircraft will have a better chance than someone who hasn't. I don't think anyone would argue that a person could do 1000+ flights on FS and then be ready to do daily flights with an airline. FS experience won't teach you what every button on the aircraft does, but the basic knowledge could be the difference between overshooting a runway with 150 survivors, or hitting the side of a mountain with 0 survivors. All hypothetical, of course.EDIT: I will add that if the aircraft had a failure, any FS'er would be hooped.
  10. I find it both amusing and annoying that we see so many complaints on this thread about people whining about a release date or asking nit-picky questions that do nothing for the simulator experience, and yet we can have 2 pages of meaningless discussion about a sarcastic remark someone made in jest (nachos, toilet flush handle being modeled, etc.). I understand sometimes it lightens the mood, but I'd rather not have to sift through these things to find posts about the NGX. The thread is almost 80 pages long, it's beginning to get littered.
  11. i think it's an imposter..... it's funny how just as Ferd was brought up in this thread, a "Fred" appears. They joined like 20 minutes before I posted. Very suspicious.
  12. I think a more viable option (and I'm not sure of the logistics of getting it to work) might be to have a "directory", and the user would have to put in their own pdf files in this directory. Then PMDG doesn't have to worry about compiling these charts and some users not being able to view the charts they need. PMDG would just provide the tool, users would need to make it work. That just seems like the easiest way to do it, but I have no idea how difficult of a task it is.
