July 10, 201114 yr CaptainsI am not sure if this has been covered yet, which is why I apologize in advance if it has already been discussed in the forums. We all know that the NGX is coming, and soon. So when it does, what can we expect with the download service? I have not yet purchased a PMDG on release day, but I plan to, along with thousands if not more other people. Will the servers, website, and checkout process be able to handle all of the ramped up traffic? I would be disappointed if the NGX came out and I was not able to purchase it on the first day due to the servers or purchasing process being maxed out. Knowing PMDG and their high standards they hold for their customers, I do not tihnk there will be any problems. However, there has to be a limit to the maximum number of people who can purchase the aircraft at one time. Others thoughts are welcome, and as a disclaimer I mean no ignorance or disrespect to PMDG or anyone.Have a good night,Morgan Captain Morgan Wiley Delta Virtual Airlines Delta Boeing 737-800 Senior Executive KDTW Hub Manager Real World Student Pilot Cessna 152 Pilot
July 10, 201114 yr Commercial Member Our entire download system has been overhauled recently and we have virtually unlimited bandwidth now. It will not be an issue. New purchases have been on the system for a while now and people have noticed much higher speeds than before. PMDG decided to overhaul the system just in time, I suspect many people will be purchasing the NGX in a short amount of time. July 10, 201114 yr Author They've already said that they have made preparations for the onslaught.LOL. I imagine the website doing a lot of work on release day. Sorry I posted, never heard them say anything about it yet. Ive only been following the project closely for six months, so I may have missed it. July 10, 201114 yr I think we should make an event on VATSIM so when the NGX is out we all buy it and go fly online. Plus it's going to be more realistic that way. But I forgot that wel'' need to learn a bit before flying it online. For me I expect 1 hour study Sagga Toure

But I forgot that wel'' need to learn a bit before flying it online. For me I expect 1 hour study I believe this was mentioned awhile back, but I'd be up for a group NGX flight on VATSIM. Maybe we could all gather at BFI to take delivery and then fly to our respective destinations... Personally, I'm just going to hop right in fly it. I'll probably crack open the manuals en route.
July 10, 201114 yr I'll be flying out of my hometown Cairns YBCS to Townsville YBTL for testing on VATSIM. Seeya's in the skies! Will be flying Virgin Colours.Pete Walsh. Running i5-9600K @ 4.8ghz - 32GB DDR4 3200mhz - GTX 3070.

July 10, 201114 yr I don't know what bandwidth is measured in but what about a yottabyte?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YottabyteRegards Best regards, happy flying, Wallace

July 10, 201114 yr I't wouldn't surprise me if the release surpassed that. I'm assuming that was sarcasm... "The combined space of all computer hard drives in the world does not amount to even one yottabyte, but was estimated at approximately 160 exabytes in 2006." Shane Murley, CYEG
July 10, 201114 yr Moderator I wonder if the Avsim forum will crash? It seems like there are still some issues once in a while where I cant access the forum, so I can only imagine that once the NGX releases and the posts start flying in this forum the whole thing might go down for a while.Hopefully not, but I wouldn't doubt it also.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

I'm not saying not knowing every in and out of the aircraft, but if controllers are on, we're expecting some basic navigation proficiency....and for the record, nothing makes us wan't anti-aircraft systems more than the pilots who say "my FMC messed up."Sure it did.
