  1. thanks Steve When you see that & Nicks videos you realise just how good the ngx flight deck is.
  2. Normal brakes are much cheaper & more the norm for most airlines especially low cost airlines & older planes. The down side is that they get hot very quick & cause some serious heat transfer to the wheels themselves. On large road vehicles like buses & lorries(trucks) they have devices to assist braking like-exhaust gas brakes & electro magnetic brakes so that the driver can reduce speed or control speed on steep hills without over heating the brakes themselves. Aircraft can use reverse thrust if fitted which assists the slowing of the aircraft. I have seen wheels cracked due to metal fatigue caused by heat. If you use PMDg's 747 & land at an airport with short runways you will get brake temp warning & I've seen a few with wheels on fire during taxi in. In fact it's normal procedure to warn ground crews of the risk of fire. For certification most aircraft have to get up to vr speed then apply full brakes come to a stop & then wait for several minutes to see if a fire breaks out. For me normal brakes make landing more challenging into shorter fields & I'm going to be very interested in PMDG's modelling in their new release.
  3. Yes, it's extremely bad for your health simply because if ngx is released on Thursday there will be thousands going sick on Friday-right :-)
  4. HiI found this article. I've not tried it because I'm away from home. I'm also no pc expert but those of you who are might like to comment-good or bad?http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=9064It might even help someone, who knows.
  5. I think that Steve just wants to show his appreciation to the team. He realises that one of PMDG's hardest decisions was pricing. Just think about it!The NGX has been a very long development cycle & we've heard about the hours they have put in recently. At $69 this is a give away. PMDG have had to market this at a price which is within the reach of those who have a smaller budget, that's a rare thing these days. Compare how much more you're getting with this product compared to previous releases & then compare the price difference? So please guys, show some respect to Steve. I don't imagine that PMDG would do this anyway but it's nice for them to know that some of us appreciate their work & for the sake of our hobby we hope that they will earn enough profit to continue developing in the future.
  6. Marc Here is a link to the latest ezdok cam. http://www.ezdok-software.com/resources/files/EZCA-Update-1.17.zip Make sure you read tutorial, it's easy but requires some pan views etc to be deleted from the view setup in FSX.
  7. RandyHave you aligned the IRS recently to see if this reduces any drift. It may or may not help whilst you search for above. When I first used PMDG aircraft I had no idea that they modelled this & my aircraft would drift & like you I had to use heading adjustment to get it back on course only to find it would drift again. This may not have anything to do with your issue & you may be an advanced user so forgive me if that's the case but I would be interested to know if it has any affect. Good luck.
  8. Thanks JonathanGot it, & using it. Thamk you very muchMike
  9. HiAnyone got a link to a download site for this HDR software? Thanks.
  10. After AOA's first video release I e-mailed Nick to find out how he moved around the cockpit so nicely, below is his reply:-Nick Collett, Jul-23 17:10 (MDT):Hi Mike,It's a program called EZCA: http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=ezdockcamIt's a fantastic addon, definitely worth the price!Glad you enjoyed the videos,NickFor PMDG aircraft I no longer use Track IR but I use the above. Track IR is compatible with ezdockcam but I've not tried them together yet, to be honest I may not bother. The added affects that the cam gives you makes flying much more realitic because it simulates air affects on the aircraft based on weight of the aircraft. It also gives a touch down effect. Hand flying the approach in the 747 using this cam is by far the most realistic & natural experience I've found in a sim & at £22 ($35) ish- it's a great price. If you decide to buy the cam make sure:-1-Get the latest version.2-Read & follow or watch the instructional material because you must delete several view options in MSFS X for it to work. You can edit cams on the fly which is a great feature. You also have to set up each aircraft that you use. It's easy.
  11. I e-mailed Nick from AOA after his first video to see how he moved around in the flight deck so nicly. He replied with this link:- http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=ezdockcamI have Track IR but I've loved using this cam software so much I've not bothered with it. I will do though because EZdock cam is compatable with Track IR. Apart from moving around the cockpit it simulates all the movements an aircraft makes in flight based on their weight, wind etc & gives a touch down affect. The sense of realism when flying especially an approach is fantastic. Makes landing the 747 much more real & natural. So, for £22 it was a great investment & although I love Track IR for PMDG stuff I'm going to stick with Ezdock. Track IR for light aircraft only.
  12. HiSorry, forgot to say it works with Track IR but Track IR is not necessary, it works great without it. The software is found at this linkhttp://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=ezdockcamNick from AOA sent it to me. I bought it & love it. Takes a little setting up though so follow the tutorial.

  14. Are you going to use real weather on the day? If so, visit MS Ship Sim forum & ask for a few of them to be anchored along your route in case you have to ditch-only kidding:Big Grin: Let us know how you get on, Also, think about contacting the NSTB save them a lot of work if you do go down:Big Grin: That was a bit of fun but seriously-how about a full brief once you have done it?Sorry, should have been NTSB above.
  15. FredYes, DVI 1 to run TH2 DVI 2 can be used for another monitor. There are several resolutions that I've used with the TH2 without any problems. The old NG was easier to set because of the thinner pillars on the flight deck windows. The 747 is harder to sort butfrom the photos of the new NGX I just know this one will give lots of permitations. Even if you can't get exactly what you what I just adjust zoom & position & save. I would not want to go back to one monitornow. If I remember correctly the only restriction is that you can't use 2 x TH2 on one pc.
  16. 737GuyKEWRI to would like you to stay for the reasons already mentioned. I'm very new to this forum & I agree with what you have said 100%.For me flight simming is the only way I can live my passion, I once flew for a living too. Sadly, I am now 75% deaf & I've lost my licence.
  17. Out of all PMDG aircraft the 747/400 is the most difficult to set up due to the thick window supports. For this aircraft I use a different zoom setting. The old 737ng in 2004 worked really well & from the screen shots & videos of the new ngx I just know it's going to be great set up on three monitors. The other great feature with th2g is the bezel management, it keeps everything aligned from the flight deck to the outside world. With the two hat switches on my yoke I can look around the flight deck adjust knobs & switches then a quick flick of a switch I'm back in normal view looking ahead with left front window in left monitor front view on centre & right front on right. The other plus is you get a good sense of motion through clouds & when banking & of course it makes taxiing a breeze.
  18. 15:16I have used tri4 & still have it connected. However, using the three monitors with th2g I find I don't need to use it & if I'm honest I find it hard work, as you have mentioned-turning knobs etc. TripleHead2go's software & it's SGU program allows you to set up all the games that it supports straight out of the box with a few mouse clicks. It will give you several resolutions to try & it may take a few goes before you feel happy with it. I found some resolution showed only outside views, strange looking panels etc but I found for me the top two resolutions gave me the best image. I can't remember what they are off the top of my head but it's something like 4800x1080. Enter matrox triple head into u-tube search engine, there are lots of videos that others have set up to give you an idea if it's for you. If there is a down side it's the cost of all the monitors if you want the best results. Eflash, it you have three monitors the same try higher resolution in the SGU software & then check fsx screen resolution are the same. Make sure you set the refresh rate as per you monitors ie-60htz. Also make sure that you have set wide screen 16.9 in the SGU. If you monitors are different then you may not get the results you want.
  19. For those of you thinking about using or buying an iPad for use when flying I can recommend it very much. It's great to have a check list, charts & an fmc on the iPad. It frees everything up but make the complex PMDG planes much easier & much more enjoyable. With the complexity of the new 737 it's going to be a great asset.
  20. Thanks JaneIm going to buy some new extreme add on airports as a result of your post. Another great detail added by the PMDG team to an already extraordinary product.
  21. Hi FredHave you looked into http://www.matrox.com/graphics/surroundgaming/en/home/ Their triple head to go (digital addition) has native support for FSX & because it spreads the image overthe three monitors from one dvi output from your graphics card there is no drop in frame rate because your pc sees it has one monitor.I use it on PMDG 747 & previous 737ng on both flt sim 2004 & FSX. I've also used it with X-plane. It does help if you have three monitors the same, in my case I have 3 x 24" HD monitors.Because it supports many games including all the shooters, racing etc I'm sure it's right up your street.Check it out.
  22. Great post. You've helped me decide to treat this release like a real aircraft, see my thread on (Patience). I am overwhelmed with the details of this new product, it's almost beyond my comprehension that this can be achieved in a sim. I can't remember being gripped by so much excitement or anticipation with any other sim product.
  23. MatiasGreat idea. Can all you guys send me some money every time you make a mistake, I promise to give PMDG a percentage:Big Grin: How about virtual medical at $30 a go, £20 UK pilots. Make your cheques payable to PMDG & they can pass my cut to me.I think you hit it on the head though with nothing at risk in the sim. I'm gonna try hard with this new ngx & keep it real.
  24. Tanks Carl.I can't read any of your stories without feeling that I'm there. Great way to keep us informed & entertained while we wait.Much appreciated.
  25. I wonder if any of the beta testers have found that this plane has changed the way they sim or whether they feel that it might do after they finish with testing etc? Clearly, those that we've heard from so far have left us in no doubt that we are about to enter another era. I guess, the answer is-that this plane is as complicated as you want it to be but simple enough to use for those who prefer it that way.
