  1. Not so numty, the real GNS-XLS I think it does let you add multiple offsets from the same parent based upon the user guide if I recall correctly. But we don't get every feature in FS CS, I don't have the RXP one but CS I use in this and the BT-67. I replaced the "GPS" popup. 2. The thing I find useful is to change the range on the map by using the range up/down on the weather radar
  3. Yeah I would be worried about it turning the wrong direction too. I'll stick with the VOR/NDB manual/HDG method
  4. Someone was asking about putting in multiple offset waypoints in a row in another thread here. So I was thinking since the HOLD feature is not modelled in our PMDG version GNS-XLS, maybe we could just fly the hold using several offset waypoints around the fix? Do you guys fly your holding patterns like this? I've been practicing some holding patterns using the VOR or NDB, plus the RMI and Heading mode for the second leg. But I wonder if it's easy to use the FMS instead.. or it could be harder because you have to keep entering those waypoints constantly. It seems kind of difficult to figure out the second and third waypoints though without drawing a picture and getting a protractor. Does anyone have a good method for this? I wouldn't have thought it was common though given that most FMS that allow offset waypoints should at least have the HOLD functionality...
  5. Hi I saw your post so I thought I'd try multiple offsets in a row on today's flight. There doesn't seem to be any problem I think it's working ok. I initialised the VNAV page after entering the waypoints, and it didn't cause any of them to be wiped. Note that if you go back in and click on the waypoint to look at it again, it DOES ask for bearing/distance again, but if you look above that you can see it still remembers the last bearing/distance you entered so it's not wiped (see screenshot below) Or were you trying to put multiple offsets on the same line - like add more bearing/distances into the offset wpt page? I think that would overwrite them, you have to add them as a new entry in the flightplan page by clicking on the waypoint above, and typing in the new one again with a *
  6. I just like tabbed goodreader for charts and manuals while flying
  7. The price is not too bad, let us know how it goes if any problems with Aussie airports
  8. Dll.xml also is the main one, same folder. Exe is more external programs that open at the same time, dlls link into the FSX session and often have menu entries too. Don't delete stuff if you don't understand it though, there are some default MS entries in there.
  9. In the FMC, turn the sound down to 15% Turn FSX sounds to 15% Turn you headphones master volume up to compensate. Leave squawkbox sound at 100% default Then you can hear most controllers. If its really bad just tap "Q" to temporarily disable the sound. Although personally I don't find the NGX so loud compared to others like the J41, and the 777 will be a different beast altogether.
  10. I agree, and the VC is beautiful to fly from as well. If you like turboprops this is a must buy. You also get lots of great documentation with it due to the history the PMDG guys have with this plane.
  11. Maybe this will be the differentiating factor.. Aerosoft = better coverage Navigraph = cheaper price As for who has the best quality and least errors, it's too early to say. But competition is good, that's for sure. Jan-Paul - thanks for clearing that up, that's what I was hoping for and I'm glad the source is different.
  12. Thanks Craig, I had heard that Navigraph were using a database from a specific source that provided navdata to their customers, and this source only included data that their customers wanted based on their forum responses. They had said they only get airports included if their source has customers that use those airports. I was hoping Aerosoft were using a different source, with more complete data. For example the source that Garmin uses for their GNS units, seems to have more coverage over the smaller airports. But if they are the exact same source, then I don't know if there can be any improvement except the difference between cycles..
  13. Thanks for checking those. You know what, I complained about these on their forum last month. 1208 didn't have them. I just checked 1209 and Navigraph added some of them this month (for example STARS for YSBK), if it's related to my customer feedback them I'm impressed even if it's not all of them. It's still not universal coverage but they are improving. YSBK - do you have the STARS as well? Or just the approaches? I hope Navigrpah grow to meet Aerosoft's competition headon and expand their service by including data from another provider to get greater coverage, then we would truly have a choice. At the moment I'm worried about errors in Aerosoft's data, although Navigraph hasn't been error free either.. but I already have credits left to use. I'll at least use those credits before deciding whether to change...
  14. Off the top of my head there are a few with missing approaches. Try YPMQ please, it should have 2 RNAV approaches and an NDB approach. Also YCFS, YWOL, and YSBK do they have approaches listed? For SIDS STARS I have found the capitals were covered by Navigraph but I should check later if any were missed
  15. I just laughed loudly.. and I'm still laughing
  16. Has anyone tried this with the small Australian airports? Navigraph missed alot of procedures here..
  17. I just found out the included J41 sounds are from the MD-11, so now you can rest easy that we aren't replacing real J41 wipers recordings and we can enjoy our rainy flying days guilt free.
  18. The default sound is borderline annoying, that's why I change the sound to be more "pleasant". I think we all know the J41 and NGX aren't cars, but even as planes I wouldn't know the difference as I've never flown a real Jetstream. So I've added the sounds from Steve and I much rather the subtle effect than the loud noise that used to be there.
  19. http://www.precisionmanuals.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=12&idcategory=13 Maybe the banner on the frontpage is out of date for a while and just confused us all, scared away all the customers..
  20. It's just been reduced to $59 and it's warming up ready for me to jump in
  21. Markus - I'm not sure, it seems to work ok for me. I would try backup your Basler folder, then reinstall a clean copy. Daniel - Thanks for Spectrem!!
  22. Steve's groundroll enhancement gave us some improved sounds for the NGX, most of these can't be applied to the J41 because it doesn't model as many sounds. But it does have wiper sounds, so with his permission I adjusted the speed and tried them on the J41, I like his wiper sounds much better. Recorded from a car they are very familiar sounding and quite relaxing I can almost go to sleep cruising in the rain I posted the link to the J41 version in his thread here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/353539-official-groundroll-enhancement-thread/page__st__550#entry2480484 Backup the originals first, then copy these to your FSX folder \Sound\PMDG\J41\
  23. Steve's let me adjust his wiper sounds for the J41. Here is the wiper's synced with the speed of the wipers on the J41: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29331868/J41_Wipers.rar
  24. These ones are good, I have icons surrounding the wallpaper anyway, and small screens on the sides so this size is good. Cheers
