  1. What an awesome feature! It's always a weird and rare sight to see the queen with the 5th pod attached and even so in flight sim. Can't wait to go haul som engines around when it's released! Maybe he's thinking about the cover they put over the nacelle, as can be seen in these pictures: Disregard if you've already got this covered (bad pun intended)
  2. There's an even easier way to do this. The SDK kit has a tool called Traffic Explorer, or something like that. It can be opened from the sim, and from there every object in the SimObjects-folder can be placed out as AI or static objects. You can also assign a speed, heading etc. or a flight plan from the tool. I've used it to place aircraft carriers when practicing carrier landings (not with the 777 though). It's pretty neat! I put out an entire moving convoy with destroyers, support vessels etc., all in less than 5 minutes. Here's the manual: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526965.aspx#TrafficExplorer
  3. Thought I'd share these: http://youtu.be/A4uIy51AfZw Interesting to see the captain hand fly the 777 for such a long distance into LAX! Enjoy!

  5. I'm not a beta tester! Just sharing the image from facebook... And say I was a beta tester, I'm sure I would be spending my time on other things than sharing pictures...
  6. Just a little heads up this was uploaded on PMDG's Facebook page 10 minutes ago: What a beauty! B)
  7. What about ctrl+shift+F1? Try that after you've set the start levers to cutoff.
  8. Actually in Norway it's not usual for job adverts to mention the exact salary, and it's not usual to ask about it at a job interview either unless you're told it. I guess it's mostly because they'd rather hire people interested in the job itself and not the salary..? At least I wouldn't care so much about how good the salary was if I could get paid to fly a flight simulator as a full time job B) Seriously? Wanna swap places?
  9. Apparently the Norwegian CAA (Avinor) is looking for people with hours on FSX or X-plane and a fascination for aviation. According to the job advert, participation in VATSIM is also a big bonus. The job is full time, paid accordingly, and candidates are given a 3 week training course. Translated job advert: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=no&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=no&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Frecruit.manpower.no%2Fno%2Fstilling%3Fjob%3D1009681&act=url Who of you wouldn't apply for this job..? At least I had a good laugh when I saw it!

  11. The /L means it's GNSS, GPS and WAAS equipped and certified to fly in RVSM airspace. /Q would indicate it has adequate RNP capabilities for the route segment it's flying.
  12. You should go into the OPUS options and check out "Sim friendly options". Theres also some other options for wind and temp smoothing if you take a look around. Maybe a fresh reinstall of OPUS is also worth a try. Go uninstall it from the Windows control panel, and reinstall the latest beta from their website! Troubleshooting like this sure takes some time, but it's worth it and it will make your FS experience a better one!
  13. It's obvious you have some Out of Memory issues. Go read page 21-25 of the introduction manual!

Go to smartcockpit! http://www.smartcockpit.com/plane/BOEING/B777.html Normal and supplementary procedures on the right side of the page, under "Miscellaneous".
  15. Well, here's a recording of my issue: As mentioned the sound appears when I pause and unpause the sim, and disappears when swithcing to external view and back.. Not sure if it's the same problem, but unless someone can tell me that it's supposed to be there I can't live with that sound
  16. Lol it's funny you'd say that, because I was actually nearly 100 tonnes over MLW at 320'000kg, so the landing should be anything from soft! Just wanted to try out the bird and didn't expect to land in a while  Thanks for the advice though!
  17. Just want to say I'm completely with you on this one Tim, and actually I was having some issues myself which could relate to your issues somehow. For example I had no wheel brakes at all when landing in Newcastle on my first flight whith autobrakes 3 set, and still no response with manual braking. And even weirder; I started off with working brakes when taxiing out of Dubai yesterday, but then I suddenly lost them... I've also had some issues where the throttles stops responding and then comes back on again, so I decided to try fix it. I'm also using hardware stick, throttle and pedals, although it's the Logitech G940. What worked for me was to set up all axes except the throttles in FSUIPC. You've probably heard this before, but it could maybe be a good thing to reassign everything like I did. Just make sure you delete all the axis assignments from within the FSX Controls setup and assign them from within FSUIPC and calibrate them there as well. Not saying it will work, but if it does I'd be glad to be to help! Good luck! EDIT: Ovbiously he's not the only one with these issues..
  18. I also get a sound that I don't think is supposed to be there, and it resets when switching to external view and back just like yours! If I pause and unpause FSX the sound comes back on again... Sounds like a truck or something, and it's a looping sound, and it's loud!! Would prefer to not have it..
  19. Oh I remember the days back when I was only flying in spot view... Couldn't believe how I got my landings as smooth and spot on every time after I transitioned to the VC! Now I'm mostly looking at VC quality and less on the external model when buying add-ons. I think a large monitor with at least 1920x1080px is a must I would never ever go back from my 27" to the 17"...

Yeah, tried that with an A320 as well, in the real world. It refused to pushback. Interestingly, it was because the chocks were in place...
  21. Hi, Would it be possible to implement the FMS feature seen at 1:25 in this video? As the ATIS in FSX has such a short range, I usually find myself wondering what approach to expect, and end up having to reprogram the FMC when ATC assigns me another approach than the one I've started flying. The result is usually a rather messy approach... Maybe it would be possible to either get the ATIS data directly from the FSX weather stations, or ATIS service, or I'm sure you could get the data from WX add-ons, or even a website or server. The best solution though would be if the data could be obtained directly from FSX, as the most interesting part is which runway and approach to expect, and not necessarily the real world weather... I really look forward to flying the 777, and hope my input is of some relevance!
