  1. I had same issue and posted in the Navigraph thread. No answer there so I'm glad to see your post.
  2. When I installed this along with a fresh install of the S550 it brought my high end system to its knees.....FR 2-10 where I'm usually pegged at 30. Must have screwed up the install somehow. Anyone else see anything like this? Thanks
  3. Hello all: Well, I am going batty with this problem. Fuel feeds from only the port side tank on the Cessna! I've tried everything I can think of short of a reinstall. Looked all ove the aircraft.cfg file...nothing different there with respect to fuel from any other aircraft. I've reloaded the plane several times passing through a different simple aircraft like the ultralight. Looked at all the settings on the taskbar...none really have to do with draining tanks. I'm stumped. Any ideas? I'd be grateful. Thanks
  4. Thanks for weighing in. I'm just accustomed to deploying spoilers/speedbrakes on touchdown. I have not yet found a need for them in flight. Update 2: The airbrake.wav is not the culprit after all. Not sure where to go now other than the suggestion by Capt above to forget using them on touchdown or just grin and bear the growling sound.
  5. So on short final I arm the spoilers by hitting shift+/ and this groaning noise starts and continues until everything is shut down. Checking outside, the spoilers don't deploy at that point and deploy perfectly on touchdown. Any ideas on the groaning noise? Update: Should have searched on the forum first. Found the solution and all set. Thanks
  6. Thanks everyone. I went the FSUIPC route. Works fine.
  7. Thanks for the insight Craig. I'll be flying with this aircraft for the foreseeable future to see if I can get comfortable with it. Thanks again
  8. Well, I flew another hop today and everything worked ok. I was able to climb and descend ok. I do have the SPs after all. But the whole thing is just not up to the standards of let's say IFLY, PMDG, FeelThere, and other biz jets. I tweaked the aircraft.cfg file a bit to help with the squirrely ground handling but I really hate having to do that for an expensive piece of payware. Also the DTO function in the FMS seems a bit screwy. I really was looking for something in a biz jet that was up to date graphically and could get into short fields. I also have the Flight1 Cessna Mustang and that is a good product as well.
  9. Well, I guess this thread is now cold but I wanted to weigh in anyway. I bought this aircraft a week or so ago and tried a flight today from MTH to AGS. In my opinion this product has the poorest executed autopilot I have ever seen in 20 years of simming. It looks nice and hand flies ok but the AP is a total disaster. Just sayin....
  10. Thank you all. Now I'm kinda wondering whether this was $50 well spent. How would I know about the config panel without you guys and this forum. Did I miss a doc somewhere?
  11. Hi all: Just bought the S550 today and am conducting self orientation. I have read through a lot of the forum and found numerous good tips. However, one thing keeps shutting down my cockpit orientation. The battery runs down in no time at all, maybe 2-3 minutes, and everything goes dark. I have searched the docs as well as looked at every switch on the panel and I can't figure out what is the drain. The only way out is to start the engines but I don't want to do that until I have prepped the aircraft. What am I missing? Thanks
  12. As I said awhile back, for a FS computer the internet is the root of all evil. Every once in awhile on my laptop (not the FS computer) I find some sort of crap like that has found it's way in. I find Win 8.1 to be particularly vulnerable.
  13. Just remember that idiots like this Ryan Air guy are also making critical decisions on maintenance policies, crew training and hiring policies, aircraft rental policies, and on and on. Takes me back to the tragic loss of an MD 80 near LAX when the horizontal stabilizer actuation system failed due to poor/unaccomplished maintenance by an out sourced company. These idiots make decisions every day that may threaten the lives of passengers and crew alike.
  14. I fly both FS 9 and FS X. I have no payware airports in my FS X except Caribbean destinations. But I do have at least 100 freeware airports and every airport payware enhancement product I can find. In FS 9 I have a good number of payware airports and even more freeware. I run GE, UT, FSGenisis, ASN and ASE, so both systems are full house for scenery and wx.I have a high end system so I tool around pegged at 30 everywhere I go. If I feel like a flight into LAX or JFK, LGA, London, or some such I usually use FS 9. That way I get a great flight, no threat of crashes, and silk smooth hand flying. Or if I feel like a Caribbean trip, or western US trip, I fly FS X and still have silk smooth flying into a smaller airport like JAC. I fly IFLY NG X in both and some PMDG NGX as well. Also smaller aircraft. VFR flights I use FSX exclusively. FS 9 fully loaded may not be quite as nice as FS X but it's darn close and still a dream come true for a simmer who dates back to FS 98.
  15. Thanks guys. After some diddling around today it's beginning to look like my problem may have been the 347.09 driver with DSR activated. I've reverted back to an earlier driver without DSR and looks like the blue screen issue may be gone. We'll see.
  16. Hi all: I have been getting some annoying BSODs when flying the PMDG 737 NGX. I have not seen anything similar flying other aircraft. While I don't suspect the crashes to be caused by NGX, I'm wondering if there could be some kind of driver issue where NGX is looking for something on my system, like a driver, and I do not have the needed version installed. The error code or whatever you call the BSOD screen is: 0x0000009C Has anyone seen something like this or have an idea on how it can be occurring (driver, etc)? I am running: Win 7 Pro FSX Gold UTX GEX REX ASN GTX Titan I7 4820 3.7 oc'd to 4.5 16 gig (2x8) Separate HD for FSX 48" 1080 P HD TV 19x10 Lots of fans and 360 water cooling Temps remain in the 50's for the CPU and low 70s for GPU I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks
  17. Thanks Todd and Dave. Your answers led me to research this a bit more, as I should have done at first. I did update to the 347.09 driver I believe it was just recently. Could you suggest how I go about checking all the drivers for need of an up to date? I am running an I7 4820 I think it is 3.7 oc'd to 4.5. Whenever I look at the temps they are down in the 50's while running FSX. I have super water cooling that seems to do the job. It sure sounds like this is something in the driver/hardware area rather than ASN/FSX. Also if it happens again I need to write down the error code. Thanks again
  18. Hi all: Occasionally I get a blue screen of death (Windows crash) that I think has something to do with the way I am using ASN with FSX. I am running Win 7 Pro 64 along with UTX, UT2, GEX, and FSGenisis for scenery. Because I fly long flights and don't like leaving my FS computer connected to the web for those kind of times I follow this procedure: 1 Launch ASN and download the WX. 2. Launch FSX and prepare flight to depart. Usually take about 20-30 minutes. During this time ASN is connected to the web. Clearly the local weather is downloaded. 3. Before departing I configure ASN for "Historical" rather than "Live" or "Manual", using current weather as historical. I check the box for locking time to FSX time. 4. I break the internet connection and off I go. As I said, occasionally I will get the "blue screen of death" and I am suspicious that I may be causing it by getting ASN somehow out of synch with FSX. I would appreciate any comments to my approach and thoughts on how I may be causing the crashes. Thanks in advance Edit: Forgot to mention that I saw more blue screens before I started checking the time synching box. Prior I used "Manual".
  19. I find right clicking and selecting virtual cockpit clears the problem Just takes a couple seconds.
  20. I've had this piece of gear for about 10 years now and it has seen a lot of use. Basically, I've been satisfied with it as it brings a level of immersion I was looking for. But now after 10 years it is pretty well shot. The controls are really loose and sloppy and the pots need to be replaced. Unfortunately they are soldered onto the board so there is no real easy way to replace them. There are six slots on the quadrant and two of mine are inop at this point. It does need attachment to a solid foundation. It's actually smaller in physical size than maybe it appears on the web. I don't use FSUIPC to calibrate anything but I had no problem setting it up as per the install instructions. Mine does not have any buttons. If you mean the reverser levers, they work fine. Funny though because I have a second rig on which I am using the Saitek quadrant and so far I really like it. It is very precise and noise free so, but then again it is brand new. I have two of them ganged together with a trim wheel and it works very nicely. I guess I would like the Go-Flight a lot more if I could easily refurb it. But it really comes down to personal preference, as does so much in this hobby. Hope this helps.
  21. Been simming since 1997. Total hours over 16,000 on FS 98, 2002, 2004, X. It is a bit misleading since just about all those hours have accrued while flying various jet aircraft on medium length flights while I was away from the sim doing other things. I do the preflight, fly the takeoff and climb, engage the autopilot and go off and do whatever. Check in occasionally, then fly the descent, approach, and landing.
  22. There is another dimension to this subject which I did not see mentioned in the thread. Everyone's rig and controls are different, resulting in variability to how the control inputs "feel", and how the simulated aircraft responds. Settings such as "sensitivity" in the control axes for example. Or adjustments to foot pedals. I prefer not to change my basic settings so as a result I usually end up tweaking the aircraft.cfg file or .air file (except PMDG) to adjust the specific aircraft to my physical setup. Also sometimes to adjust performance to the published numbers.
  23. LM is a very large company with major programs across the defense spectrum. The flight simulation business exists only because an argument has been made within LM that the commercial side of the business directly supports their military products. Their interest in this could evaporate overnight in the event that the R&D expense cannot be justified so I would take the attitude that we should take advantage of this while the opportunity exists, but I would not necessarily make long term plans and commitments based on LM's involvement.
  24. It's good to remember that the aircraft is still flying when it touches down so the load on the undercarriage isn't so bad as you might think. The wings really only unload after spoiler deployment and speed slows.
