About Me

  • About Me
Registered Nurse by profession, graduate student (MN) at UVictoria, teacher/instructor
  1. I fly the default DC-3 probably 80% of my Air Hauler flights. I don't mind the default Cessna 172 either. Otherwise I'm low and slow in the A2A Cub.
  2. Currently it's a toss-up between Aerosofts Twin Otter X and A2A's Cessna 172. I would have been flying the Majestic Dash 8 more but I can't seem to get it to function in Air Hauler.
  3. Just got back into flying Air Hauler after a short hiatus of a few months so I'm out of the loop scenery-wise. My company, Island Sun Pacific, flies a squadron of DC3's out of PHNG. I'm using GEX and UT terrain (and REX weather) and enjoying those. One o' these days I'll get around to making a livery. Anyway, I enjoy flying around the islands and have a fairly decent hauling business-- none of my pilots lack for work <runs off to crack the whip>.
  4. I get that at times, ABH, but it depends on the aircraft depicted. I'm hoping for a patch or two as my biggest beef is the piggybacked flights, eg., two 7XX's with the same call-sign/same air service trying to land at the same time, metres away from each other. Also finding a lot of regional services appearing that are highly suspect to me in the area I fly in (e.g Air Berlin, Luftansa, and some others appearing as local carriers in Hawaii) but that could just be my set-up of the rather unintuitive set-up display.
  5. For me it would have to be two Just Flight products- Airbus 340 'lite' and "Around the World in 80 Flights". The 'lite' Airbus 340 package just wasn't as interesting as the adverts/info made it sound...I've flown them all of twice, never finished a flight, disliked the odd view points as I'm a VC flyer so certainly not much value for me. I picked up the "80 Flights" module because it had the Lockheed Model 10 Electra, not because of the 'missions'. I don't mind the aircrafts flight, but there was basically no manual for flying it (I would have liked knowing about optimum prop RPM settings/manifold power/leaning etc) and the VC is um, in my oppinion, rather lacklustre. Basically not much value although I have used the aircraft in Air Hauler a fair bit. Pretty much two dogs for me.
  6. 1. Golden Age Simulation's Lockheed Model 12 Electra 'Junior' (and the C-40) 2. JF's DC-3 3. undecided
  7. As far as I'm aware, Slopey and Co. answer all kinds of questions on the Just Flight forums- the devs are very active in the Air Hauler community and there is a community 'fly-in' scheduled for December 1st. In the manual it says you can use the time advance if you must (I have when faced with a six hour flight and not been penalized). (page 42, Air Hauler Manual) My name is Dave. I'm an Air Hauler addict. Hope that helps, kind regards, Dave
  8. I had the missing texture problem as well, but it was my own doing- I had it installed poorly in the first place. Support directions (REX forum) were great and prob fixed. REX itself is brilliant imho, as the weather system, customizability, and weather graphics are top drawer. For what it's worth, I highly recommend it as a simulation-changer :im Not Worthy:
  9. Hi Maurice, to be honest I've not had any hits to FPS with T360 running- it was very smooth. The only slight stutter I get is when REX injects weather. I don't have an uber PC either (nVidia 460, i7 w/ 6 G ram). Only other add-ons are GEX Tropical, Orbx PNW, JF DC3, JF Lockheed Model 10, and GAS Lockheed Model 12.
  10. I just picked this up earlier today and like it so far. I can't compare it to UT2 or any of the other traffic programs since I'm pretty much a newbie with FSX and the World of Add-Ons. My adventures in Air Hauler feel more immersive (flying around Hawaii) and so far there has been way more traffic than vanilla (my settings sit at about 66% for both sets of air traffic) including Navy and military service flights, helicopters, local airlines all with proper liveries/names that give the sim just that extra dose of 'cool'. I haven't had/noticed some of the problems like floating vehicles or cargo hatches left open on take-off...guess I'm too busy trying to get in line to taxii and get out of Dodge Good impression, but given my newbness, your mileage may vary. Kind regards, Dave
  11. I've recently felt the lash myself after the Eye of Sauron reviewed the credit card statement. My fault entirely...I saw REX and Orbx...then I saw a some comparison screenshots with GEX/no GEX, with UTX/no UTX...Air Hauler...a you-tube flic of the Lockheed Model 12...it's ok I'm reformed <nods> Kind regards, Dave
  12. Hi Geoff, You bring up something I've been wondering about lately- period aerodromes/fields and scenery bits from the 1930's. I imagine there might be a few people looking for add-ons that reflect their favourite times. I'm fairly new to FSX, but also railsim (love UK steam, and the 1960's esp. the Class 55 Deltic) in era's I really enjoy. In FSX I've been pretty much exclusively flying JF's DC-3's, Lockheed Model 10 Electra, and especially fallen in love with G.A.S's Lockheed Model 12 Electra 'Junior' (all in Air Hauler) and would love to see some period scenics. Kind regards, Dave
