  1. Thanks to all who replied. I didn't mean to cause any confusion and perhaps the title to this thread should be "ILS deviation" instead of "drift". Anyhow, the problem is simple. I tune my nav radio to the ILS frequency, set the course, and manually track the ils. On a clear day, I can see that on some runways the ils is leading me off the runway. If the weather was foggy and I could not see the runway, I would be landing in a grass strip parallel to the runway. Here is a screenshot to illustrate what I am saying. This is taken at LBBG (Burgas), RWY 22. ILS course is 221. I used the default 737 for simplicity and slewed the aircraft into position where the localizer is aligned. Now, its not just this airport. I have noticed it at many airports lately. The only ones I can remember is LGAV, and UHPP, where the ils literally has me 200 to the right of the runway landing into trees. I know that IRL some runways have localizers which are not completely centered with the runway centerline, but this seems to be happening too often in FSX. I flew FS9 for many years before and haven't encountered this problem before, so I attribute it to FSX being as old as it is. Some one mentioned ADE but I can't use it without an SDK, which I do not have. I was hoping the some good folks from the community have noticed this before me, and maybe made a file which contained an edited version of some of the worlds major international airports for download. Thanks again!
  2. I tried pressing the "D" key but its still the same. The ILS feathers must be misaligned with the runway center line.
  3. Abacus where have you been all of my life!!
  4. Hi all, after years of taking a break from Flight Sim, I have recently got back into the hobby. I immediately started noticing airports with runways that had ILS which does not align with the runway. The ILS has me landing in the grass next to the runway. This only happens at some runways.. Maybe because FSX is so old maybe the magnetic headings shifted or something? I downloaded the update magnetic variation, but it didn't seem to help. I also read about manually editing the airport with an airport editing utility, but I don't have the deluxe version of FSX so no SDK, which makes me unable to edit anything. This also seems like a very tedious process with to edit EVERY airport manually. Is there a universal fix for this or is it just something I have to live with? Thank you!
  5. Wow! X-Plane looks great in those shots! I think that this looks better than the default FSX. Makes me wonder why I am still bothering with FSX and why developers are still making addons for such an old platform when there is something so much newer available.
  6. Please let us know what kind of improvement you see over your 680. If you could run some benchmarking test, it would be awesome!
  7. How long has it been since it was officially announced. 9 years? Close to 10?? Does anyone know exactly?
  8. Damn this is for X-Plane? I didn't realize until the above poster mention it! Looks seriously good!! Hopefully, someone can make this bird for FSX.
  9. Tick tock tick tock tick tock... Time is passing by and no word on anything 757 related. Can I say its officially not going to happen?
  10. I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be. Does the graphics card work when you boot up?
  11. My condolences go out to Paul and his family during this very hard time! Now, about Word Not Allowed.... I'm pretty new here so I haven't actually interacted with him personally, but it seems like he was a big part of the AVSIM forums. I constantly google issues I am having in FSX and surprisingly around 75% or the time, the first link that comes up will have either a) a reference to Word Not Allowed's tweaks or B) and actually reply by Word Not Allowed himself. Either way, Word Not Allowed was a helpful guy to have around. It seems like he was permanently banned because a couple of grown men cannot keep their ego's in check, and have to act macho and dominate the 'scene'. In all likely hood, a compromise could be reached by both parties if they hadn't escalated like this but sat down and talked. Anyways, we will never know exactly what happened behind the scenes.
  12. I have the gigabyte GTX 670. I think you are looking at the molex adaptor. I believe mine only came with a molex -> 8 pin connector. In other words, the cable that came with the 670 is not meant to be plugged directly into the PSU but into another cable that is coming from the PSU. Can you could post a picture of what it looks like so I can be 100% sure?
  13. I stand corrected! It also happens on land but only very close to water. I have not seen it on the mainland. These are from a set of around 100 screenshots I took in consecutive order. These are the ones plagued by the issue. And Im pretty sure I installed the shaders the right way. I installed the dowork.vbs and let it delete my shader folders. It this not how to install properly? I think thats what the instructions said.
  14. Im sorry I don't understand what you are asking me with blue black or white. I just get a square that has no texture and says FSX in it that flashes over water textures for a split seconds and disappears. It looks exactly like the photo I posted. Its not always a square too, it comes in different shapes but you get the idea.
  15. I tried installing shader 3.2.2/bonus/water v1.00 and I still get the flashing over water.
  16. Hi Im also having this issue having randomly flown into UHPP and found this topic. I don't have the deluxe version of FSX so no SDK and I cannot edit any runways or anything. Is there something I can do to fix this? I have noticed it at several other airports as well.
  17. Incredible how much they try to control every aspect of your life in the "land of the free".
  18. Hi everyone, I have a Gigabyte GTX 670 as seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423 Core Clock: 980 MHz Boost Clock: 1058 MHz Memory Clock: 6008 MHz I want to ask about overclocking this card. Will there be a particular performance increase? I know FSX is CPU bound but apparently the GPU helps out with lots of clouds and I notice a significant performance decrease in cloudy weather. Which GPU clock will benefit FSX more? Should I raise the core clock first or the memory clock? What functions does each clock speed accomplish, and how will this translate into performance for FSX? Regards, Ivo
  19. @ Paul I have the HIGHMEMFIX=1 in my cfg. I used to have BufferPools=0 but after reading some other discussions I reverted back to the MS default setting and that seems to have taken care of the flashing clouds for now. Is the bufferpools setting for weaker graphics cards or how exactly does it work, I am a little confused. @ Bryan Thanks but I have already tried that and it didn't help. While it seems like I got rid of the flashing clouds by changing the bufferpools to default, I now have another problem. When flying low over water, I get random flashing squares, almost like the texture is missing. This is an image I captured: It will flash for literally 1 second and then disappear. Water will be fine and a couple of seconds later it will happen again. It seems to happen more frequently when I pan but it happens all the time meaning 2D, VC, external. Note: This only happens over water and not over land. Water settings are at max 2.0 Thank you!
  20. I cant seem to get rid of this annoying cloud flashing in DX10 Preview. This happens when their is rain or snow and overcast skies. As soon as I take off and start flying through some clouds, I get a flashing almost like there is lighting... This doesn't happen in DX9 but I prefer to use DX10 since I get almost 35% increase in FPS over DX9. I have tried the SwarmCloud tweak but that has not helped me. Anyone else have suggestions or tweaks. I run every slider maxed except cloud draw which is set to 110 miles. Hardware: I5 3570K @4.4 Gigabyte GTX670 8GB 1866 CL9 Please help me! Regards, Ivo
  21. how can I disable it without uninstalling it? I usually shut down any processes associated with AI Suite before I fly using CRTL+ALT+DEL
  22. Joe, My specs are as follows: Asus P8Z77-V I5 3570K @ 4.4 8GB G.Skill 1866 DDR3 Gigabyte GTX670 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7400RPM 1000W Rosewill PSU I am not sure what you mean by 'post a larger version here'. I tried to upload a file containing several pictures in sequence but its too large. (28 MB .rar but only 1.5 MB allowed) Is there somewhere else I can upload this? Thanks, Ivo
  23. Please does anyone know what could be causing this?
  24. Thanks Larry. However, I am convinced I have a problem. In the spot view, only at a certain distance above ground I get very bad conflicting textures. online photo sharing This flickers onto my screen back and forth. Happens everywhere. Does anyone know what the issue may be? I have more pics. Thanks Ivo
  25. OK so I recently noticed this while flying. There seems to be almost a 'box' folling my aircraft where ever I fly. Inside the box the textures look different then the rest of the world. Especially the water. I noticed this because the water almost looks GREEN sometimes. Has anyone got any idea what is going on? photo sharing sites I have more pics. The it should be clearly visible what I am referencing to. This follows my plane everywhere. Thanks, Ivo
