Windows 10 Steam Edition cant activate 737
sumnr5@yahoo.com replied to brettm247's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
I have NGX running on FSX-SE, Win7 home premium. No problems. Now when Win10 came along, you wonder , do I just jump in and move forward? After surfing different forums, I chose to go ahead with win10. But,first,I uninstalled all PMDG products base packages, then uninstalled FSX-Steam. Steam is the only version of FSX I have on my system. At this point I load win10. Once up and going,I reinstalled FSX for steam. Then reinstall PMDG products. All I had to do was reactivate liveries with the PMDG operations center. I have had no issues. In fact I have seen an increase in frame rates. When I was sitting in KORD with my NGX running, I would see about 5-6 FPS. Now with same settings, I get 10-11. All programs work well except one, and win10 has nothing to do with it. It quit working when I left boxed version, and went to steam. Hope this was helpful. Steve Sumner -
Updated to Windows 10 from Win7 home premium. A few minor issues but everything seem to be running very well, as long as all remnants of FSX boxed is removed, including registry. The only thing I am seeing now is, when I start FSX, I get three messages asking if I want to start these programs. They are Couati, from FsDeamteam, Active Sky Next, and EzDoc. I am wondering if it has something to do with an XML file. So I found the XML file and opened it with notepad, and found the three entries. Not sure what to change from True to False or vise versa. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?> <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0"> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>EXE.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>True</Launch.ManualLoad> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Couatl</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>fsdreamteam\couatl\couatl.exe</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Disabled>True</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Name>Addon Application</Name> <Path>C:\MyPath\Addon.exe</Path> <CommandLine> </CommandLine> <NewConsole>True</NewConsole> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>as_btstrp_config_manager</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>as_srv\as_btstrp_config_manager.exe</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>EZdok camera addon</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\EZCA\EZCA.exe</Path> </Launch.Addon> </SimBase.Document> Thanks Steve Sumner

You may have to uninstal the base package and then re-install. It's like a reset of the system.

Windows 10 Steam Edition cant activate 737
sumnr5@yahoo.com replied to brettm247's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
I have same setup, but when I run NGX, I get a CTD. Have run all SimConnect files. No problem when I go back to Win7. Thanks S. Sumner -
Hi all: Like most people all add ons worked great on win7. Took the plunge this and upgraded to win10. I run FSX Steam. No boxed version. I fire up FSX and no prob. I even notice a significant increase in frame rates. Even when I move to KORD. Frames used to be around 5, now I'm up around 12! All good untill I try loading my NGX. CTD. Rats. Same with other high end aircraft. Electronic Flight Board fails to run as well. Anyone else have this problem with win10? In the meantime, back to win7. I'll eat the frame rates for more stability.

I took the plunge and totally dumped FSX Boxed. Cleared the gegistry and everything. Did a clean install of FSX Steam, and everything is loading with no issues. Until I came to AES. I get the error message that SP2 must be installed. As far as I know,Steam loads with SP2. Is there something I am missing, or do we need to wait for AES update? Thanks

I,like alot of other simmers, own both FSX classic, and FSX Steam. I also purchased X-Plane from Steam. I am not pleased with X-Plane, and FSX for steam has a number of addons still not compatible with dual installations of both versions of FSX. So most all of my flying is done with classic FSX. Things look great, and the available aircraft are impressive. The downside to all this is, with a mid level system, frame rates take a hit. Meanwhile over in it's own little corner sits FS9. Frame rayes have always been more than adequate. I have all the FSDream Team addons along with Flight Beam. I also have IFly 737-800. I am looking to add Ground Environment Pro, Active Sky Evolution, and Flight Environment. I also have Flight Sim Commander, and Plan-G. What else is available? Thanks

Just A Heads Up: New Version Released, v6.52
sumnr5@yahoo.com replied to jaybird1nyc's topic in The VOXATC Support Forum
Have to be in 2D panel. Secondly, I have the newest edition, along with both versions of FSX installed. When I am asked which version to instal to, I chose boxed version. All went as it should. I then go into the menu, find the voxatc folder and go down to sim version, and choose fsx steam. Vox then goes through its paces once again. Panels are removed from boxed version, then load program into steam. The problem starts when I go to start fsx in steam. Splash screen comes up then just sits there. Never does load up. Did a reboot of pc, then uninstalled voxatc. Fired up fsx steam, no problem. Re installed voxatc into boxed version, and no problems. Anyone else experience this? -
How can I install Orbx global and Vector to FSX:E
sumnr5@yahoo.com replied to asanal's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I too have both FSX editions, but regedit only shows FSX, not SE. I am holding off on dumping FSX, until all my addons are compatible with SE. The only two programs left, are ORBX, and EFB. And I have a work around for EFB. I tried uninstalling FSX, but there remains a reg. issue. Thanks S. Sumner -
X-Plane 10 trackIR compatible?
sumnr5@yahoo.com replied to OmniAtlas's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I was having same problem as above, so I started TIR first, then X Plane. I set profile for TIR to X Plane 6DOR. Set view to 3D Cockpit Command. All good. Thanks -
My only problem with X-Plane is, when I close program , I get an error that no one can figure out. Only way to restart program, is to re boot PC. I have steam edition. Windows 7 home premium. Pentium I7. 8gig mem. Dell 15R Laptop.

They have a trial period? I thought I saw somewhere that this was not available. It would be great. Thanks S. Sumner -
This is unrelated to above posts. I am looking to add P3D to my system as an alternate to FSX, of which I have boxed and Steam. I have an issue with X-Plane that cannot be resolved, so I am giving Prepared a hard look. Main concern is product support. This and the initial cost of the product. Is it worth the investment? I am seeing more and more YouTube videos going to P3D. What are the opinions out there? Thanks for any feed back. S. Are people making the switch to FSX Steam?
sumnr5@yahoo.com replied to PC Pilot Dave's topic in MS FSX | FSX-SE Forum
I have both versions installed. I tried uninstalling FSX and running steam only. Most of my add-ons work, but there are a couple of programs that are just temperamental enough to where I put FSX back on, and will continue to run it only, untill all other issues have been solved. The programs I am waiting for, are updates to ORBX, EFB, FS2Crew for PMDG737NGX. EZDoc has a patch ,but runs a little squirlly. Also waiting for apatch for AES. Just a matter of patience. S. Sumner -
I just took the plunge and uninstalled fsx boxed. Then uninstalled fsx steam. Then did a clean install of steam. I had ORBX installed when I had FSX boxed, only. Uninstalled ORBX when did the others. Now I want to re-install ORBX back into steam. I have the original download files of ORBX base and vector. Before I continue,I decided to try downloading files from scratch, and try installing then. When I tried installing earlier, I was getting an unusual error message. It is 10:50 local. It is now,11:10 and new install produces same error. Radio Buttons01> On Next,Line 10; Arguement 2 must be of type string. Stack Traceback 1; [Radio Buttons 01 > On Next Line; 10 in main chunk What do I need to do? Thanks S. Sumner

Did a fresh re-install of program. All files are verified. Even installed European scenery. Ran in full screen. Exited using task manager. Window came up saying x-plane has quit working, looking for a solution. I go ahead and cancel. Program closes. Restart no prob. Go back to windowed mode. Shut down using task manager. Get old error message, and cannot restart without rebooting.
