  1. You have to do what you described at the Milviz forum; register, then email and ask to be approved.... But Simouthouse is just registering, and then getting the email activation link, and you're off!
  2. It's not likely huh, but I'm sure we'll soon hear how nice West Virginia is at this time o'year! (Only kidding with you Mitch ).
  3. VoxATC is payware and is pretty good. Ivona is a voice set, although I vastly prefer the AT&T voice sets.
  4. You don't need to get your account approved my a moderator. I just registered, had an account within 1 minute (Via a link to my email), and downloaded the aircraft / sound. The plane flies fantastically; really amazing FDE, by far the best DC-3 effort so far. With regards to the VC; well actually the main instrument panel texturing is fine, and the main gauges are fine; it's currently let down a bit by the overhead area texturing, and the use of the ugly default radios and autopilot gauges. But even with this in mind, it's still the best DC-3 so far. PS.... Amazing engine sounds, and lovely 'switch' sounds in the VC too.
  5. It's all just pixels Ron. Even your GOF comments on my screen are just pixels But pixels can be beautiful! Yes, I'd say it has.
  6. I think he just meant no dedicated station in terms of a panel. In the DC-6 the Flight Engineer operates the pedestals and overhead that as you'll know are placed in traditional two pilot style locations.
  7. He makes some fun videos but seriously, Froogle thinks the future in X-Plane, and that's a voice of authority is it? I'll get my coat.
  8. I wonder if Flightbeam will ever branch out to the rest of the world a la FlyTampa, or whether they'll always just always reel out the US fields. Sure your 'Merican boys will be happy either way lol! ... but us Old Worlders would love to see their talents applied to the rest of the world.
  9. Yeah, heh, I guess some people can find something negative in anything eh.
  10. To be honest, I flew FlyBe Newcastle > Gatwick and back twice a week for 5-6 years and although some landings were firm, many were very smooth. One thing I always noticed was how the Q400 cabin crew used to hate the moment that the aircraft pulls onto the gate, and the pilot feathers the props - it sounds just like the engines have cut (even moreso in real life than in the MJC sim) and of course many passengers would start unclicking the seat belts and standing up to grab their luggage! "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.... the engines are still running.. please DO NOT unfasten your seat belts at this time!"....... So, as I experienced that 30 sec feathering time, about 300 times over the years, I was just wondering what the reason for it was, Ben? ....... Is it to allow cooling before the engines are cut? Cheers,
  11. Airbus just need China to jump on board, with a few hundren A380 orders, and all will be fine.
  12. I know two real world pilots (neither are interested in FS and constantly scoff me for my hobby!):- Guy: Done science A Levels then got straight into the BA Cadet program in 1998. (No PPL or previous training). After training he was flying Saab 2000s for 2 years (BA's regional arm of the time), then moved to Dash 8-300s. After 4 years on the TPs, he moved to the A320 programme out of Heathrow and 15 years later is still there. He has no desire to move to other types and likes the 'shorthaul lifestyle' as he now has kids. He made left seat I think about 5 years ago, after a couple of attempts! Martin: Martin self funded and trained to his ATPL at Oxford Aviation Academy. He qualified in I think 2003. He got into FlyBe, initially out of Birmingham I think, on the Q400. He was there until 18 months ago when he went to EasyJet on A319/A320. He has some 'left seat' assessments coming up early next year I believe. Martin's Dad is also an ATP and came out of the RAF in the late 70s and flew for Dan Air out of Newcastle (727s I believe). He then went to Thomas Cook / JMC for about 10 years, all on the A320, then in 2006 went to Qatar on the A330. In 2010 he came back to the UK flying the 737 for another Charter airline (Thomson I think), and retired early last year. As far as I can remember, Guy and Martin both flew PA28s to get up to the PPL and IR ratings and stuff and then I think one of them got up to his ATP in a Piper Seminole and the other in a DA-42 (can't remember which way around though!).
  13. To me it sounds entirely like calibration issues ......... you have opened up the MJC84 Control Panel, (in your Windows Start menu) and set up all of your calibrations? Your steering issue sounds like you haven't set up your Tiller in the control panel, and your "lack of power" sounds like your throttles and/or props axes aren't set up properly. This is a hugely complex portrayal of the Q400; it's not an old FS95 style, kick the tyres and push the power forward type of aircraft. I don't say that to patronize, but if you've been out of the hobby for 14 years, things have progressed a lot! Whether you're a lawyer or a garbage truck driver makes no difference in this hobby. Being a lawyer is not a credential to intelligence or cleverness. There are plenty of lawyers here who constantly prove that fact! ..... and there are plenty people with 'menial' professions and jobs that have mastered every inch of this hobby.
  14. Just tried this out in P3D v1.4 (as that's what I'm solely using at the moment) and it is staggeringly beautiful ! You cannot knock Orbx for giving this stunning package away as a demo - awesome.
  15. Wow, what a panel! From another fan of Russian flying (en route from Heathrow to Yekaterinburg, via Yerevan, with a BMI A320 as we speak). Wish we could get some more payware level Russian sceneries; I have Aerosoft Yekaterinburg, Norilsk and Kamchatka, and the excellent freeware Novosibirsk.... but we need more!
  16. If your talking to me, well that would be because I'm British. I don't think Tom expects everyone to communicate in strict American English. My point was; Tom is American so spells in American English (obviously), others who are British, Oz, NZ, etc, will obviously write in British English, or in their own country's variation of English..........
  17. Can't say fairer than that Tom. Cheers. You're wrong I'm afraid; In the UK, AUS, NZ and possibly Canada it is spelled 'Paed'.... but in the US it is spelled 'Ped'. So as Tom is American, and this is a US hosted site, the spelling was correct
  18. Well, AFAIK, they include a tool, free with the 2010 and later versions, but as far as I can see, if you use the 2008 version you have to buy the flattens:- http://www.fly2pilots.com/Cms/Ui/Pages/Products/MainPage.aspx?id=d3fca479-6c4c-465b-bd75-97445878ae48 But as I said a couple of posts above, there aren't "lot's of plateaus" with 2008, there are a small number. Van Nuys being one.
  19. Hi, I use FS GLOBAL 2008, and have never felt compelled to spend the fairly considerable amounts of money to upgrade to 2010 or Ultimate versions. Those later versions do have more up to date topographical data but 2008 is still great and a fantastic upgrade to default FSX terrain mesh. There are some issues - such as at Van Nuys (default version and the FTX Global Airports version, although the Aerosoft LA version is fine), where FS Global does not have a 'flatten' assigned and as a result the airport is seriously screwed up, with mountains running through the runway! ....... but 99% of the time FS Global 2008 is just great.
  20. A great approach, which I support. However, I do agree with B777ER's point below :- I have seen some Mods exercise their rights and powers highly appropriately, and the odd exception where a Mod just got wound up, or had personal value issues with what was being said, or perhaps was just caught on a bad day .... and over-reacted, as most would agree unfairly. It's a real minority case, and I honestly believe the Mods here generally do a great job. The one person who I have seen 'snap' out warnings and locks rarely seems to post or moderate now any way, at least on the FSX forums. But the opportunity to fire off an 'explanation' to a different mod to act as a 'mediator' would be cool.
  21. Hi Guys, Can anyone tell me if the new AP can be 'keyboard assigned' , (using FSUPIC Mouse Macros, or another approach). I returned the last version of this plane under the F1 refund, as the default FSX AP just did not cut it in this level of sim for me. I will 're-buy' in a heartbeat, if it's possible to assign keyboard commands to the AP, and not just rely on fiddly mouse clicks.
  22. It's the Red Bull repaint that comes with the Just Flight DC-6B (I searched but could not find a "Buffalo Airways" livery for the JF DC-6B). I'm not sure if it's that 'Grise Fiord' add-on or not, but it's the only one in the AVSIM library as far as I recall.
  23. Really?... wow, didn't realise any of the developers had done that. Seems a bit extreme. Well I've just unistalled FSX and gone full time P3D v1.4 "for the time being" so any developers that don't want me to use their software, that's fine I won't  ... there are enough fantastic scenery and aircraft add-ons for P3D to keep me happy, even just between Orbx and Aerosoft, not to mention the many others.
