  1. I was in Kathmandu about three years ago. The people there are extremely friendly to foreigners. I can't imagine what has happened to those beautiful ancient buildings. We flew from there to Lukla. Talk about a spectacular flight! And, Mt. Everest is a site to behold. Here is a link to a few pics that I took along the way: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/x01f7rtmcvoit2l/AADWrVOY48kiP3UtAOFZUr9ea
  2. Hi, guys, and thanks for the suggestions. i checked my fsx.cfg file and had the same entries as you, Mark. So I then implemented Steve's suggestion and that has worked. Appreciate the responses.
  3. Roger that, Alan. Ray, I was referring to your comment to arnobg. I didn't see any indication from him that he had worked with Burkhard. I did when I had problems and he help me get things going. Sorry for the confusion.
  4. Yes, I am amazed at how many folks come here as the first line of support, instead of to the source software support system. I agree that this isn't the easiest piece of software to install. I had some problems, as well. But, I went straight to Burkhard and we worked together over several days to track down my problem. He was not one to give up, so neither was I.
  5. I am new here, so I don't want this to appear as disrespectful. I find the idea of that picture with a black RIP ribbon being on the front page permanently to be morbid. I didn't know Tom Allensworth personally. Perhaps he would like perpetual mourning of his death. But, I bet he would prefer that everyone recognize his great contributions and then move on with life. I didn't have my late wife buried on our front lawn so that I would have a reminder of her death every day that I drive up the drive. I visit her and chat once a week. I have even been known to miss a day once in a while, but she doesn't seem to mind. I suggest a reasonable period of mourning (perhaps a month or two), and then, as with Tom, we move on. Of course there should be a permanent memorial to the man and to his contribution to our hobby -- just not on the front page. From my perspective, that is almost disrespectful in a Madison Avenue sort of way. RIP Tom Allensworth. FWIW
  6. Hmmm, I thought this was an FSX question, since it is specific to that particular piece of software, not NVIDIA cards in general. DSR works in other situations. Guess I don't understand the system here yet.
  7. A word of caution if you like WoAI aircraft. They are not compatible with MT6. I spent several hours trying to install MT6. I did everything correctly -- multiple times. But no traffic would show up. Finally, with ideas from Burkhard, who never gives up, I went in and deleted all WoAI aircraft. Voila! Loads of traffic showed up.
  8. I just updated to the latest NVIDIA drivers. Everything went smoothly. However, when I went into FSX, I had lost DSR. So, I went into the NVIDIA control panel and found that DSR had been turned off. I reset it to 1.50x and 33%, just as before. No problems, the DSR resolution of 2351 x 1323 was created again, which is what I was using in FSX. I then went into FSX and changed to 2351 x 1323, which now appears in the resolution choices. However, when I go into full screen, now all I get is a black screen. It has worked great up until now. Any ideas of what I should try? Thanks in advance for any help.
  9. Well, I solved the problem, but it was really odd. I found a second OpusFSI folder inside of the C:\OpusFSI one. It appeared to have a complete program. I opened FSIServer from there, was able to change to E:\FSX. I then closed that program and re-opened FSIServer in C:\OpusFSI. It was properly changed there, also, to E:\FSX! I then deleted the inner folder and everything appears to be functioning correctly now. I have no idea how that happened, unless at some point I failed to uninstall before installing a new update somewhere along the way. In any case, problem solved.
  10. Hi, guys: I just transferred FSX to a new, dedicated SSD. Consequently, I went into FSI Server configuration to change the installation folder from C:\FSX to E:\FSX. When I exit the configuration page, I got the message, "Configuration Details Changed. . .", so I figured all had gone well and then exited FSI and restarted. However, when I went back to check, FSI configuration still showed C:\FSX. It did not save the change that I made. I tried this several times, both using the browse button and manually entering the new location, but neither method worked. I also tried it in FX Opus. It made and saved the change with no problem. Any ideas what I might try next? Thanks in advance for you support.
  11. I found a link to v2.1, but not 2.5. Is v2.1 what you are talking about? Thanks
  12. Wait a minute! Both of my floppy drives are 5 1/4". Since when have they made 3 1/2" drives? It must take a pot load of those little floppies to load a program.
  13. Roland, Is there any way to make this guage work with Opus FSI? I am sure that there are a lot of users would appreciate being able to use your work. I tried the guage, but get a message that there is no radar link. Thanks, Wilson
  14. I'm just curious. Why would anyone pre-order something like this? If it can be downloaded, then I don't see any reason to do this. It is not like it is "limited edition". Am I missing something?
  15. Agree with the above except: In lieu of Ezdok, Accufeel and ASN, you can use buy Opus FSI, which contains all three in one package.
  16. Yes, what I said earlier. Steam has no vested interest in providing support for anything bought through their sight, other than what they actually own/license and MUST provide support for. I had a problem with a Dovetail product a while back. Steam support said not their problem, contact Dovetail. I contacted Dovetail. Dovetail said not their problem, contact Steam. Guess who ended up on the the short end of that stick. There is no way to sell heavily discounted products AND provide high quality support. You lose every time as a seller. Not a problem as long as the consumer is aware of that. Problem is, most consumers expect to get the same level of service through Steam that they have gotten over the years buying directly from software providers. Not going to happen, at least for very long.
  17. I believe that Robert has stated previously that the problem isn't necessarily the discounts. It is the percentage of the sale that the developer nets after Steam and Dovetail and whoever else might be involved take THEIR shares. Yes, it is additional income that the developer would not otherwise have. But at what cost? The critical issue here, it seems to me, is that those customers are going to require the SAME amount of support that all other customers require. If the cost to the developer to provide that support is greater than the income generated, then eventually that developer will go away. That's the problem for smaller software companies working within the Steam/Dovetail system. I am not saying that the Steam/Dovetail system is inherently bad. P.S. I'm not a developer -- just a concerned observer.
  18. Then what the heck are you doing responding to my posts!
  19. From playing around, it looks like the only way to have DHM VC work AND not have default external tail view is to turn Live Camera on. Cycling Live Cam on and off still resulted in default tail view if Live Cam was turned off and DHM VC is turned on, at least on my setup. The trigger for default tail view is turning DHM VC on with Live Cam off. With Live Cam and DHM VC off, everything is fine. With Live Cam on everything is fine. Is that the correct analysis, Stephen? Sorry to waste your time on something like this. You could be programming!
  20. Stephen, Thanks for the follow up explanation. Still missing something here. That is exactly the way I had it set up. I had ONLY DCM VC views turned on. Everything else except "Enable Live Weather Engine" was turned off. It still reverts to tail view. Hi, John: The whole reason for not having Live Camera enabled or having any desire to use it is because I don't want to have to read a manual just to go to external view. That is not how I fly, except occasionaly cheating when taxiing a tail dragger. I also have no desire to get my butt kicked either, so that is turned off also. Although it is obvious to Stephen that the two are interconnected, since he wrote the program, it was not obvious to me. I bought FSI to use strictly as a weather engine. The only reason I even messed with DHM VC is because I agree with Stephen that it is better than A2A Accu-Sim.
  21. Just tried it and you are right, John. Perhaps the solution is to turn off DHM and Live Camera, and turn on A2A Accu-Sim. The Opus DHM is far superior to any other option, you just need to control when and where you want it active, either via the General DHM options without Live Camera enabled, or via your Live Camera views when it is enabled. Other solutions will simply reduce the level of realism OpusFSI can provide as its DHM is fully coordinated and supervised by the Live Weather Engine. Stephen
