  1. Same for me....connection refused several times over. Clever LM clearly have different infrastructure for the payment page, which worked perfectly, but not the downloads page.
  2. Exactly my thinking. Release a major product, expect tonnes of additional web traffic and scale out the infrastructure. Basics really :-)
  3. Almost - it's like being a kid waiting for Christmas isn't it? We've just had a nice three-day weekend here in the UK. Such a shame they didn't set the release for Friday 26th May. Would've had a great three days of playing.
  4. Good point well made - I knew it was 2PM but wrote 10AM for some reason. The BST time of 1900 is correct though :-)
  5. 10AM EST is around 7PM here in the UK. Shame they haven't allowed downloads ready for the purchase to happen today at 10AM EST. Would've reduced the load on their servers too. Hey ho.
  6. Simple solution could be to take a backup of any CFG files before running said add-on installer?
  7. So today is not the day? In all seriousness - looks great, from the launch video, and will no doubt have folks over at LM a little bit troubled. Am I right in my understanding that Flightsim World is based on the same previous FSX code that LM use for P3D?
  8. Yeah I fully agree with you Darren. I use P3D because of all of my add-ons such as Orbx scenery and, most importantly, my PMDG aircraft. If I could have the PMDG 737 on X-Plane, I'd forgo all of the scenery as the rest of the X-Plane experience is superior to P3D. If Orbx scenery was available too, I'd be in Sim heaven! Ady
  9. You buy it directly from nVidia for £1099 - just got my one through yesterday.
  10. Yeah but having to hold back on drivers could have knock-on impacts to other games. I'm keen to run concurrently with X Plane too and that doesn't utilise SLI. So I'm regretting the decision really - but should break even selling my two 1080s and getting a Titan X Pascal.
  11. You and me both - it's exceptionally realistic. I compare what I'm seeing in the X Plane 11 videos to what I see out of an actual aircraft window - there isn't much of a difference,
  12. Looks nice and detailed. I've tried photo-realistic scenery before and I just couldn't get past everything being flat.
  13. I get bombarded by Dovetail Games adverts in YouTube. Having looked into, I couldn't discern any particular reason to get me interested. When I looked into X Plane there were clear reasons to be interested - it is sufficiently different to P3D to generate excitement. Maybe I'm just missing the point with DTGFS? Perhaps someone could enlighten me?
  14. Just stability I guess - given the driver difficulties with SLI.
  15. Sure thing. I should get it delivered early next week so I'll let you know. I expect it'll allow me to run higher AA than a single 1080 in a 1440p widescreen setup.
  16. Wow - my night lighting in P3D looks nothing like that Rob. Is that with an add-on of some kind? Cheers, Ady
  17. Hi everyone, I spotted a thread somewhere a week or so back about using a second computer to run P3D add-ons such as Active Sky. But I can't seem to find anything to suggest how it works and how you set it up. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks, Ady
  18. Took me a while to get the radar to show anything. I found some historic thunderstorm weather and, after takeoff (not just on the ground), I then saw the weather radar spring to life. Until then, I was convinced it wasn't working.
  19. I've never 'upgraded' an operating system - always a fresh install. There is so much junk left in the registry after an upgrade that you're asking for trouble. Or perhaps it's just my CDO kicking in - I like things to be clean and fresh
  20. I'm not convinced this Tweet should be read into at all - doesn't look like much of an announcement to me. But, then again, I have no experience on which to base that view - having joined the P3D bandwagon at v3.4. Have they made announcements in this way before?
  21. I was lucky enough to be sent to Sydney on a work trip recently. I flew in one of Emirate's new Airbus A380s and it was absolutely fantastic. Even though it was a business trip - there was no business class for me! The economy setup in Emirates is brilliant. The aircraft is so spacious, even for a tall guy like me, and extremely quiet. Jennifer Aniston was not on board
  22. I recently moved to a 1440p monitor and did so on an existing install of Windows and P3D. My experience was horrible - similar to yours. I did a fully fresh install of exactly the same setup and, voila, everything was perfect. I can't describe any logic for why this was the case - but it worked. Worth a try?
  23. Yeah I'm in a similar 'kicking myself' state at the moment. I built a new PC for P3D and included a GTX 1080. My monitor is stupidly huge widescreen 1440p and so the 1080 couldn't quite keep us with the AA I was looking for. So I bought another one - kind of led by the fact that Rob has two Titan X's in SLI. Having never done SLI before, I was excited at what it would bring. And then the dramas with drivers surfaced and I read stories of how SLI is being phased out. So now I've bought a single Titan X Pascal and am going to sell the GTX 1080s. Lesson learnt!
  24. Hi everyone, Long-term flight simmer here. Following a leave of absence I am back with a vengeance. I'm just wondering whether, whilst Windows 10 is clearly supported by P3D and there are folks using it, it is recommended from a performance point of view. To ask a more specific question; would I notice any difference in performance between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10? I'm just concerned that one doesn't have as much control over the environment in Windows 10 - i.e. automatic upgrades etc. and I wonder if this has a performance impact in general? But, then again, I notice that Rob A uses Windows 10.... Thanks! Ady
