  1. The integrated video card is a weak point.
  2. Silly query - did you also reinstall the two service packs?
  3. I had decided to reinstall my Carenado because of an issue with the center MFD. From there things went rapidly downhill. I ended up reinstalling FSX completely including the error 1607 syndrome. Oh my, great way to spend the evening, right? I am fairly computer savvy having owned one since the late 1970s. Registry entries, ini files etc. I finally get FSX reinstalled - whew. I install my sweet EMB505. Here we go... I get it running and as soon as the g1000 initializes I get OOM. Pardon me? Never had that before, NEVER. Uninstall FSX, again. Reinstall and verify it runs with all sliders at max on a stock airplane. No issue. I install my EMB505 once again. Cross my fingers and load it up. All I see in the preview panel is the glass. There is no aircraft body. Oh jeez. Well, let's see what the insides reveal. Three black squares where the MFDs belong and nothing else. Uninstall Carenado product, reinstall run FSX again, oh my goodness! The game's afoot. I go to bed wondering where the error lies. I wake and try it again...a good reboot solves issues sometimes. Nope. Then I have my D'oh moment while going through the Settings portion of the Menu. "There's no checkbox for Direct X preview?" I had not installed the updates, SP1 & SP2. And of course after the prince kissed Snow White FSX ran happily ever after.
  4. Was a DMIR for the FAA for years working out of a very well known GAA antenna manufacturer. Private ticket.
  5. When your first sim from Sublogic came on a cassette tape - a whopping 32k. I remember when they petitioned the F.A.A. to have hours logged on the sim count as hours in your log.
  6. It's not using resources as much as when you have two addons that write to the same objects - scenery etc, they tend to mess one another up. The result is lights that look like sprite cones or flicking graphics. It is a conflict between addons.
  7. Avoid any AV that touts "heuristic behavior" as it means any change to an exe will be seen as a red flag. Reactive AV is the worst. Something using a db that is updated every day or two is best.
  8. Precisely why I'll stick to FSX for the foreseeable future.
  9. I tried a heavily edited fsx.cfg and it ran at half the frame rate of the config that was generated by the game.
  10. I tried a heavily edited config versus one generated by FSX. The FSX one got roughly twice the frame rate as the edited one. 50 fps versus 100 fps in the opening with the ultralight. I still get between 10 and 50 (using the default config) when using a Carenado, though.
  11. Any mods installed? That could certainly affect the MFDs.
  12. Close any programs running in the background. If I run stock aircraft I get ~50 fps. When I run a Carenado aircraft I get fluctuating fps from 10-30. Also very dependent upon what is being rendered (are you close to the ground?). Once I reach cruising altitude all that is being drawn is the cockpit and some sky.
  13. It occurs every time? i.e repeatable? Have you tried reinstalling the aircraft?
