  1. Microsoft decides when to "ship it" and sets the overall roadmap of the development. Microsoft as the publisher sets the quality bar for what gets published under their name. I strongly doubt Asobo wanted to run off and put in a half baked VR mode that took a ton of effort and then totally ignore it as soon as the VR box was "checked" and never make it actually good. I doubt they would want to ship an XBox version that was a huge mess, or a PC release version that was a huge mess. Decisions like this come from Microsoft.
  2. There were community groups working on free tools for model matching and AI traffic. Encrypting the related files would lock them out as well.
  3. If you read through the thread on the Aerosoft forums, there are potential performance issues reported with the workaround. Likely the true fix they are asking for would not have those issues.
  4. More people won't solve project management issues, which likely land squarely on the Microsoft side of the fence
  5. The encrypted the files for the AI traffic? It's almost like they intentionally want to lock out any community effort in that area. Shame on MS.
  6. The only good that can come of this is that console users are way less used to/willing to deal with instability and maybe they will get more attention in the gaming press for what a dumpster fire this software is.
  7. Maybe it's time for some of the 3DP developers to shine light onto the problems that MS/Asobo are creating for them instead of hiding away on private dev-only servers so everyone can smile and talk about how "MS and Asobo are great partners" in public.
  8. Why as a customer should I go dig into forums and look at "roadmaps"? No, I expect a working product for my money, period. Microsoft has not delivered. And given that SU5 is what we get a YEAR into this mess, I see no indication they will ever deliver. What a load of apologist bull-dung. Yeah, they maybe offered some refunds for a week or so right after release. What about the people who are buying it now only to realize it's a flaming pile of junk?
  9. Why? It is advertised as a complete and ready to use product. Not "early access" or "beta" or anything along those lines. What we get is barely an Alpha....
  10. This is the XBox update. The fact that it altered performance on the PC is totally secondary to that. If they really cared about PC they would offer level of detail settings that actually worked, and not wreck the visuals for people with top end GPUs. It's just like the half-baked VR update which they released just to check some VR box in the Microsoft roadmap, but it's full of issues and they have not addressed even a single item on their "VR" feedback summary.
  11. The idea was it would be 10 years of improvements on a solid working base, not 10 years of scatterbrained updates that break the entire sim and no solid base in sight.
  12. Except they aren't implementing the things the user base is asking for. The Top Bugs and Wishlist items are barely being touched. They are still faffing about with things Microsoft and Asobo planned to do before the game launched over a year ago. The idea that they are acting on "feedback" is just an illusion.
  13. Jorg stated several QAs ago that they have no intention to police the quality of Marketplace content. MSFS forum mods asked about refunds several months back referred to language on an XBox Marketplace page that says, "no refunds". Don't count on any refund, no matter how bad the product.
  14. I'm on the Steam edition but the big downside to Steam is that you don't get future access to the XBox version like you do with the PC MS Store version. If this had been explicitly communicated to buyers I might have bought the MS Store version instead, just in case I ever wanted to play on the XBox.
  15. All we need to do is: Wait for the questions to open for the July Q&A next month Word the question in a way that the MSFS forum mods won't reject as "already answered" Collect 100+ votes Hope that the question gets asked correctly Roll a standard 6-sided dice and select the response from the devs Roll 1: "We're not aware of any problem with the tree draw distance, it looks exactly the same as it did at launch" Roll 2, 4, or 6: "The updates to resolve this issue that were previously scheduled for <insert prior sim or world update # here> are now scheduled for <insert next sim or world update # + the dice roll # here>." Roll 3: "We are committed to having the best representation of trees possible in the sim. It is on the backlog and will possibly be "improved" at some undetermined time in the future." Roll 5: "<Blinks> <Blinks> <Blinks> I'm not sure what the question refers to?"
  16. Nothing on any of the feedback trackers is actually getting done. Things that were allocated to SU4 or SU5 are now pushed to SU6 and SU7. Pretty much none of the VR related items are even being addressed. But we've got an XBox version!
  17. Live Weather is a core feature of the entire simulator and it's still frequently broken almost a year later. "We're discussing with the weather company how to fix it". We get BS gaslighting responses every time anyone tries to bring it up in the Q&A. But hey, now the console owners get to enjoy the same quality product that we've been dealing with.
  18. Just another broken feature like many other things in the sim. But they did change the phraseology, so they can say they "fixed" the ATC.
  19. And it's great to just parrot "they are going to add a Freeware section to the Marketplace" But the reality is there will still be some approval process to be able to place content there, hoops to jump through, and specific packaging and approval for that content to get it onto the consoles. There are payware developers that have waited MONTHs to get approval to put up their payware content, which Microsoft gets a cut of the $$ for for every sale (so there is a financial incentive to approve developers and payware content to get it onto the Marketplace). After the developers are approved, it can take weeks for patches to be ingested. I'd be surprised if the "Freeware section on the Marketplace" is more then just Working Title and FlyByWire content, because WT is on contract to MS, and FlyByWire is the "#1 most wished wish", so once they have those 2 things up they can say "look we added freeware" and mark that box as "done" just like VR is "done". I find it very unlikely that MS will spend the time to ingest things like free liveries into the Marketplace, given that even payware has been a challenge. So until it actually happens, or they commit to it with specific words beyond the the typical vague weasel words they use for everything....the trailer is false advertising as far as I am concerned.
  20. A flight model that can handle taking off or landing in any crosswind at all without massive unrealistic yaw moment at the instant of liftoff/touchdown. Live Weather that actually matches reality. Avionics that are actually detailed and work. Approach plates in the sim. Reasonable airport lighting at night. Offset ILSes and LDA approaches that work properly. Multiple issues with the VR version of the sim that have had none of them addressed since they shoveled that out the door and marked it "done" with great fanfare. Among other things.....
  21. It's sad they have to constantly stoop to showing things that aren't in the product to sell this thing. But then again, we still don't have what was promised to PC users, almost a year after release. I hope the people considering buying on XBox wait for reviews before they spend any $$$. I'm still waiting for all of the things that PC users were promised before we dropped our hard earned cash. More empty promises don't mean anything to me.
  22. They could send me a check in the mail for $10 million if they wanted. Anything is "possible". They have a history of borderline false advertising with these video trailers (the water masks, which were only included after a lot of people raised a fuss). This one shows a lot of fun liveries that aren't in the sim and if they are community liveries (which I suspect they are based on the community content creators being called out 2/3rds of the way through the video) there are likely no plans for them to be in the sim at launch on the XBox.
  23. Did they use community aircraft skins for this trailer, when there will be no way to install community skins on an actual XBox? If so, typical MS marketing video..... Official 'Top Gun' fighter aircraft add-on when they aren't even allowed to show static missiles on the rails is pretty dumb if you ask me.
  24. I'm pretty sure if you open the weights/fuel sub-window in flight, and grab the right and edge/corner of that sub-window, you can expand it to the right and show the CG location part of the window which is present in the main menu before you start a flight. The content is there, but the window is not sized to show it by default.
  25. These Q&As are "garbage in, garbage out". A bunch of single-sentance questions, filtered by mods with no development experience, re-worded by community managers with no flight sim experience, asked to developers who may be most comfortable conversing in another language. And they refuse to, heaven forbid, brief the questions to the developers in advance so they can be prepared with answers instead of just giving some vague deer-in-headlights response. So we get a poor response, which the moderators at the MSFS forums can mark as "answered" and then refuse to ever "approve" another question down that line of questioning again. It's all an exercise in PR, totally useless, every time I watch one of these things drag on for hours to get 5 minutes of actual information I end up wanting my darn hour back afterwards.
