  1. Just to be clear, these downloads are only required if you want to access the beta. If you are happy to wait, it will come to the official release in due course.
  2. Yup. 🙂 It will be an option in Virtual Desktop - I'm assuming the next release. From the Dev yesterday: An update on Virtual Desktop XR release After discussions with the Virtual Desktop developers, we have decided to include Virtual Desktop OpenXR support directly into Virtual Desktop. This means you will not need to install a separate program! Virtual Desktop will have an option to select whether to use SteamVR OpenXR or Virtual Desktop XR. Once the version of Virtual Desktop with integrated OpenXR support is released, you will uninstall the beta software (to avoid having two versions installed).
  3. If XP12 uses SteamVR then it should work the same there.
  4. I had more time last night to test things out and couldn't replicate the stuttering or tracking issues I was facing previously, regardless of SSW being enabled or disabled, so looks like that was a one off issue. Tried several flights and a mixture of settings and things worked really well. I did have one MSFS crash as I entered VR but that was after a break and the headset had gone to sleep and I needed to restart VD in the headset so I'm putting it down to that. I see no reason to use SteamVR going forward, especially now with the news that this new runtime will be included as an option directly in VD in an upcoming release.
  5. From my quick test last night, I saw a ~7% gain in frames - nothing huge. I did have stuttering issues with motion reprojection turned off though as well as head tracking issues which I didn't experience with my initial test with motion reprojection enabled. I'll look more into this over the next couple of days.
  6. The consensus is that up to ~10% gain can be had by this switch. I only set it up last night and had time for a quick flight and it was all flawless. I was running motion reprojection though so my fps was still capped at 45fps. I'll try and find time for a quick flight this evening and disable MR to see what kind of fps gain I'm seeing with no other changes other than the VD OpenXR runtime switch from SteamVR.
  7. And things will improve again very soon with the new Virtual Desktop OpenXR runtime developed by Mbucchia. Removes SteamVR from the mix meaning less overhead to get VR running in MSFS.
  8. Also reset the view twice - it seems to require 2 resets to place in the default cockpit view.
  9. Using Pico 4 through Virtual Desktop, there is a recent option in Virtual Desktop to run at a higher colour depth to eliminate this.
  10. Carenado are still my favourite aircraft to be in when in VR. The visuals really do add a lot.
  11. Don't be scared to try Wireless first though with the Pico 4 - it's surprisingly good if you have a solid connection to your router. Ideally your PC is connected to the router via Ethernet though regardless of which method you choose. You can try Pico's own Stream Assistant first but the recommendation for Wireless is to pick up Virtual Display from the Pico store for improved visuals over Streaming Assistant.
  12. I appreciate the update Ray. The time is right just now for an update though, realistically it should have been before now. If he contacted me and explained the situation and said it would be another 3-6 months then I would be okay with that. The lack of any communication, including to those that have requested a refund is not acceptable though. This really needs to improve, transparency is key in such situations.
  13. I spoke to PayPal on this issue but because it is > 180 days they will not process a claim. My other options are to go via my bank or take Fulcrum to the small claims court here in the UK - not something I obviously want to do but the lack of transparency here is the biggest issue here for me. Disappointed in what is happening here so far.
  14. I think we all want to support the business and as the saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved. I hope all is well with Chris first and foremost and if there are problems on his side he is struggling with, I'm sure we would all be understanding and support him through this which would hopefully alleviate any stress.
  15. That's why I said perhaps. The consensus appears to be that this is one of or potentially the best/accurate flying aircraft in the sim but using an external flight model. Don't get me wrong, I like what MSFS provides today but if a developer uses an external method to deliver a better experience, that either means they know their own tool better or the stock engine wouldn't allow them to produce such a high fidelity aircraft. If the latter, my only hope is that some of this extra fidelity can be provided by the stock sim in the next release.
  16. I'm of the same thought but I do understand developers point of view as well. These guys are artists and this is their craft. Some people also like to do the full experience or going through an airport, boarding the aircraft etc and this caters to them. I only get the benefit of what I can see from the aircraft but really appreciate the extra details you can see through the windows from the stand such as people walking back and forth, interior modelling such as shops and restaurants and the accurate lighting which really brings an airport to life.
  17. He is going to revisit Edinburgh next after a much deserved break.
  18. I'm the same. Just looking for an update amidst all this uncertainty.
  19. So it appears the A2A Comanche is a massive hit with how it performs both on the ground and in the air, perhaps showcasing a real deficiency in the MSFS core flight engine. I know Asobo hired a well respected military flight sim developer to work on MSFS so wondering if we will see similar kinds of fidelity built into the core sim for all aircraft to leverage? I don't think it would look to good if a new version of the sim can't replicate some of the feel of this add on.
  20. Can you give us a hint? The fact there is no update fives days after this post suggests things are not rosy. Can we expect a throttle, a refund or a fight on our hands?
  21. The notifications are buried under a couple of menu levels! That's the biggest issue for me. Was on the top of the main page previously with a count of notifications.
  22. You can purchase a USB link cable which has a secondary input to connect another power source to ensure enough power is supplied to the headset so you don't run out. Example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BNNF33WH/?coliid=I3EXP9L5WO6H4A&colid=3TYI2PGNS1NV9&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  23. Thanks - I'll maybe give this a try out to see how it compares. I did try Streaming Assistant over Wifi but Virtual Desktop gave the superior image quality. If this is improved over USB C connection than Wifi for Streaming Assistant then could be a strong option.
  24. Daube, are you connecting using Pico's Streaming Assistant software? Can you detail the steps you use please? I'm curious how this compares with Virtual Desktop as I've heard negative reports using USB C so have never tried it.
  25. Absolutely recommend virtual desktop to run it wirelessly. If you have a clean, strong wifi signal at home then it's a great way to connect. The Pico 4 is a very capable headset.
