After 2+ weeks of troubleshooting reached Nirvana...

Landing in ATL earlier and noticed my first stutters since I rebuilt my PC. Last night, doing a longer flight, my frames dropped to less than 15 once I landed. Something is off. -
Re Gsync: when the Main Thread is the source....
Poppingcork replied to Noel's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I have an old (2016) 34" Widescreen, 1440p LG monitor with 60hz max. I suspect any monitor would be an upgrade. I get slight tearing and stutters sometimes but the stutters barely noticeable and probably a function of me not knowing any different. -

Would a FreeSync monitor yield the same results as one with G-snyc? I think I know the answer but wanted to ask anyways.... -

How much 'stuttering' do you experience in MSFS?
Poppingcork replied to Noel's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Ping me sometime and I'll see what I can do to help. You should be getting the same performance as me. -
Poor Performance with NVIDIA 4090
Poppingcork replied to elee's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
You need to put some heavy load on the GPU. I crank up (3080) the graphics settings until I become GPU limited, then adjust a bit down from there. You have plenty of HP to run ULTRA on everything, IMO. -
I'm pretty sure v-sync is on.
-
I actually have an i5 10700K now but same GPU. I've had the most success with making MSFS GPU limited by cranking the appropriate settings up. I'm running everything ON and ULTRA with render scaling over 100 (can't recall the exact level)and I achieve zero stutters and wonderful experience. Prior to SU10, the GPU was at the levels you mention above. But now? The GPU is running at 99% and fairly hot. I'm not having a stroke over it BUT I was content pre-SU10. It is what it is.......
-
Thanks. I'll try to figure this out. She's running hot for sure.

Save it for someone else, champ.

My GPU sounds like it's about to explode!! I was very happy before the update.

XP12: the good, the bad, the ugly
Poppingcork replied to Pastaiolo's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Someone let me know when it's time to PANIC. In the meantime, I'll patiently await for more iterations of XP 12. It's a marathon, not a sprint. -
Stutters when about to land

It's happened to me too. Beyond annoying. -

Anyone knows what is going on with Fenix ??

Well, It appears this post didn’t age well. “Patience is a virtue” -
Yep. You ARE missing something and it's obviously not for you and thank you for your thoughtful input.

Is there a way to edit live weather ?
Poppingcork replied to Pochi's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
This is why I love Active Sky. The surface winds can be a PITA and inaccurate. Active Sky allows an edit to surface winds using live weather. -
What CPU did you upgrade from? For me the upgrade to 12th gen (as well as a fresh install of windows11) has been awesome.
-
Here's a link to a thread regarding performance. I followed this guys advice and it appears to have worked. Basically crank your graphics setting up until you become GPU limited. I upgraded to a $260.00 i5 12600K and the difference is staggering. No voodoo bios tricks, NVCP or anything else. I left everything alone except power management in NVCP, clean install of windows, all settings to ULTRA and things were smooth as butter.

Sim Update 10 beta is out!
Poppingcork replied to abrams_tank's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
For what it's worth, I had the same CPU/GPU with 32G RAM, Windows 10 and an overclock to 4.9. • I was having stuttering issues especially on final and few other occasions. A real PITA. • decided the upgrade to an i5 12600K and install Windows 11, no overclock. • All settings on ULTRA to make the sim GPU limited. The difference is remarkable. Just an FYI.....
