Was forced back into painting when the DC6 came out for MSFS (hehe...had good friends who wanted some paints, and painting retirement gets dull after a while) 😆 Anyway....here is the Everts Air Cargo "Blue Canoe" If you closely under the horizontal tail, you can see the mottled dirt effect I added. This bird is (or was) kept pretty clean, but she'll still get a little more dirt before I'm done. In this pic you can see, along with the Hamilton-Standard logos, I also added the MFG and Serial numbers as I saw them on a closeup pic of the real thing (no, I could not get the actual serial numbers for each blade, and if I could, sadly the props are not all mapped...just two cover all 12 blades). I also added the blade ring with a dimensioning effect you see just before the blade goes into the spinner. Also check out the custom weathering, scratches and matted effect on the blades (done by altering the green and blue channels of the COMP file) Here is what the stock textures look like....of brand new engine. Here is the work I've done on the right side. Note the weathered effects, scratches and nicks, and the tons of exhaust soot and burned oil she's accumulated over the years. (mostly on the #3 engine..have not put too much on 4 yet) Still a lot to do, but she should look pretty realistic when she's done. Here are a few more normal viewing distance shots: Oh and I also painted this one for another good friend of mine...we've been simming together literally for decades! This one is REALLY old and weathered! I will probably release them to the public in time...After I figure out how to upload to flightsim.to like all the cool painters do, LOL. Won't be for a while... but when I do, I'll let you guys know here in case you want them. I also post over at the PMDG Painter's forum if you have the plane and check over there. I update my progress over there.

Good day Everyone, I seem to be encountering a rather strange issue. Upon loading into the default LIRF (Rome) with the DC6 Olympic Airways, the cockpit with all panels black is shown for a few seconds before the sim CTD. I currently only have ORBX Vector, Global and Europe_LC installed on a fresh P3D version When loading into the default scenario at Eglin AFB and only changing the aircraft to the DC6, everything seems to start fine. In addition, when I load into LIRF with any other default aircraft, everything loads fine as well. Thus it must be the combination of the location and aircraft causing the crash. Below is the last few lines from the DC6 log 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 1] Loading general prefs from g:\games\prepar3d v4\PMDG\PMDG DC-6\DC-6_Options.ini[37m 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 1] No ini file available for SX-DAD; falling back to default.[37m 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 1] Loading plane prefs from g:\games\prepar3d v4\PMDG\PMDG DC-6\PlaneDefault.ini[37m 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 1] Presetting items for AI[37m 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 1] Un-muting new cockpit sounds[37m 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 1] Flight loaded from C:\Users\Ashton\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Prepar3D_Default.fxml[37m 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 2] Cannot load situation from file g:\games\prepar3d v4\PMDG\PMDG DC-6\PanelState\Prepar3D_Default.fxml.sav; doesn't exist / zero size?[37m 2017/08/11 20:58:15 [PMDG 1] Loading saved health-and-hours data from g:\games\prepar3d v4\PMDG\PMDG DC-6\Aircraft\SX-DAD.hours[37m 2017/08/11 20:59:03 [PMDG 1] Resuming all systems...[37m Any help would be much appreciated.

Painting this one for my Air Force friends....took her on a "paint inspection" flight from KMIA to KTPA (that is my excuse to actually fly the planes I paint, LOL) Just picked up LatinVFR's KMIA....great scenery! I used the blue airplane logo on the stadium for IFR guidance (I Fly Rotundas) LOL Gentle turn (always fly this beast gently, esp in turns) to get on course to Tampa.... See ya' Miami! Beautiful sunrise.... She's a photogenic 'Gal! 🙂 Same angle a bit later in the morning Close up of the other side... About to head over the Everglades.... LOVE the wing views on this aircraft! There is St. Pete off to my left. On short final....Tampa skyline in the distance Just about to touch down... Taxiing off the active.... Parked at the ramp. You can see the details I've added to the props....Hamilton-Standard logos, dirt and wear, prop hub, and even the serial numbers on the blades. As far as I know....I've been the only painter to add a very important part to the engines, does anyone know what it is based on the screen below? 🙂 Hope to have this one up to flightsim.to soon® You can pick up her Navy Sister here: https://flightsim.to/file/19059/pmdg-dc-6a-us-navy-vr53-131594 I love this plane...and I never thought I would. Didn't think it would be my cup of tea, but the more "paint inspection flights" I take her on, the more I'm hooked. She had limited fame in past platforms...I feel she was MADE for MSFS. This is a plane you truly "Fly" and manage the systems....not, V1, Rotate, LNAV, VNAV, calc TOD, leave the 'pit until TOD, mow the lawn, walk the dog, etc (C'mon, I know you ALL do it on those long flights in modern aviation marvels! LOL).

Since @fppilot likes context with the pics (I do as well, but get lazy like we all do, hehe). This is the magnificent PMDG DC-6, in a livery I happened to paint. 🙂 The title of the post should be quite obvious by now, LOL. I am currently flying her in a lazy trip across the USA....started at my home base of KDFW, headed generally west and a few legs later, just finished a beautiful dawn flight from Missoula (KMSO) to Bozeman (KBZN) As I was panning around her, trying to capture a shot that exemplified the mood, this taxi light pole got in the way. Just as I was about to move the camera in past it...thinking it was ruining the shot, I thought it may make a conversation piece to the insane people here that seem to love sitting at a desk and pretending to fly aircraft (current company included of course, LOL). This is default scenery...and I'd venture to bet that this white sticker is on all the default taxi light stanchions. Piqued my interest so I thought I'd share. On a personal note. I've had a few major health issues that have taken me from our hobby into the real world regarding depressing topics that I'd rather not expound on here. So far I have been very fortunate and blessed to have mostly recovered from them (and continue to) and have been slowly getting back into our passion. Just remember that our hobby is just that, and the real world ALWAYS trumps our virtual one. Don't ever let the things you've been blessed with in the real world fall to 2nd place in priority....it is usually then when reality interrupts our hobby and bites you square in the A55! (well, for me it was a region not far from there, but you get the point!) 🙂 Fly safe, and be safe!

Hi All - I have been doing some flying up in Alaska and have run into trouble taking off. I am using AFE after engine start OAT is about -10C I set AFE to Dry Takeoff Cylinder Head Temp starts raising and is in the red before we even get to full power Before I am even up to about 30 knots or so all four engines have damage I thought it was carb icing so I: Used carb heat until before takeoff Turned on carb anti-ice None of that helped Just to be sure, I moved the aircraft to a warmer airport (OAT was 4C) and there was no problem at all with CHT Any idea what I am doing wrong here?
