  1. Hello, I think I'm doing something wrong, after I have completed a flight I try to merge the aircraft performance by selecting: Aircraft - Merge Collected Aircraft Performance The problem I have is that all the " new values" are zero value. Could anyone advise what I'm doing wrong please? Thanks in advance Dave
  2. Hi All , I was wondering if anyone knows of a possible (successful) merge of the Dreamwings Dash 8 Q200 with the PSS Dash 8 Panel. The default FDE of the Q200 has some flaws (over-sensitive pitch trim etc.) and I wonder if anyone has any fixes. Help Is appreciated! Kriss
  3. Hey everyone, Not sure how many people have been looking for a merge like this but after some major trial & error I have merged the two respective planes! Both merges are fully working and retain the characteristics and panels of the Flight 1 Super 80/Leonardo Maddog with the exterior of the CLS MD-80 (which in my opinion is the best looking model out there). I have been playing around with this for about 2 years honestly it really wasn't hard when you look at the task, I mostly had to take a logical approach to the whole thing which revealed to me the error that has been holding the whole thing back. For now I am at a stable build on both planes with just the 2D Panels in use. I have left out the VC part for now because in order to keep the CLS model from going into a sorta protection mode (Landing Gears Disappear)you must leave some VC entries in the planes panel.cfg. I should get this to work in the near future but for now its good without it. Now there are only two downfalls to this merge, I see them as small tradeoffs for a great model and panel matchup like this. When using the Leonardo Maddog Merge you will have the landing lights on the wing stuck to on because of the way the developer made the plane. Its coded in a way which sends a continuous Landing Light On command to FS causing the Landing Lights on the model to redeploy if you try to retract them. I have learned to deal with it since it doesn't really affect anything. Maybe someone can find a work around for this in the future. When using the Flight 1 Super 80 with this plane the only downfall is the occasional Appcrash, I have only experienced it happening when I reloaded the plane after an edit without selecting another plane before it. This wasn't too much of a downfall. I have only tested these merges on my own setup so I am unsure how it will go on others, All in All I will eventually post the merges once I figure out how to write up a guide that isn't extremely complicated since I can't actually upload the files.
  4. Project Airbus Wilco merge A380-800_v1.2.1 for FSX by David Chen (Dec. 2011)Notice:1. You MUST have Wilco A380 v2 installed first or this will not work properly.2. This merge is for FSX only. FSX SP2 or Acceleration pack is recommended.3. Wilco's load manager does NOT work, but configuration tool and key config tool work pefectly.4. Read the description below to know more about fuel planning (IMPORTANT).What is included in this package?1. A380 merge (Wilco panel + Wilco VC + Project Airbus model)2. GPWS sounds update3. FSBuild performance data (for those who uses FSBuild for fuel calculation)4. Performance data for those who uses Wilco tool for fuel planning5. Some useful documents of A380 (read description below). What's new?1. Autobrake problem fixed.2. Engine data modified.Fuel planning:Some people use Wilco planning tool to calculate the fuel they need. However, the Wilco's data are not realistic since the real world A380-800s consume more fuel than Wilco's calculation. So, it is recommended to use FSBuild (payware) for fuel planning. FSBuild performance data is offered for you. If you use Wilco's tool for fuel calculation, you MUST use another aircraft.cfg (follow item "D" in the part of "Installation").Documents description:There are some docs in this package, including:1. A380_Totorial_UK: An official tutorial from Wilco's website.2. AC_A380_20101101: Aircraft data from airbus.com. From page 106 to 136, you can find some useful performance data. For example, in page 116 you can find a chart to calculate takeoff distance. In page 129 is a chart of landing distance.3. spec_imperial and spec_metric: Aircraft limitation and information about weight and balance, fuel capability, etc.Installation:A. Aircraft merge1. Copy the .fx files (in "Effects" folder) to \Flight Simulator X\Effects.2. Copy "Project Airbus Wilco merge A380-800" folder to \Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes.3. Only Airbus livery is included in the package. Download more repaints from http://www.pairbus.com/B. GPWS sounds updateCopy all files in "sounds" folder to Flight Simulator X\Wilco\A380v2\Sounds and overwrite all existing ones.C. FSBuild performance data1. Open folder "FSBuild performance data"2. Copy A380.PRF to \Program Files\FSBuild\Aircraft3. Add following text into \Program Files\FSBuild\fsb_Aircraft.cfg.[A380-800 w/ Trent 972/B] --- (David Chen) ---WeightUnit=KGSOperEmptyWeight=276940PayloadWeight=80000ReserveFuel=:45AlternateFuel=HoldFuel=93/minTaxiFuel=25/minExtraFuel=ApproachFuel=330MaxTakeoffWeight=560000MaxZeroFuelWeight=361000MaxLandingWeight=386000MaxFuelWeight=257336ImageFile=PerformanceData=A380.prf;ToldData=;DefaultTOFlaps=;climb 250/300/m85;crz LR;dsc m82/300/250D. Performance data for Wilco fuel planning tool1. Open folder "Performance data for Wilco fuel planning tool"2. Copy the aircraft.cfg to \Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Project Airbus Wilco merge A380-800/ and overwrite.Known issue:ZFWCG cannot be calculated be FMGC. Instead, it remains 25%. But this would not matter in virtual flight simulation. Why not merge with Project Airbus A380's VC?Since PA's VC version is originally for FS2004, there are some problems when it is used in FSX. For example, some textures are black and some are loaded without correct position. Even some lights are not properly operating in either virtual cockpit or 2D panel. Due to these issues, I decided not to merge PA's VC now.Special thanks to:Project Airbus Develop TeamFor any problem, please contact me via davidchen9568@gmail.comHope you have a nice flight!
  5. Been working for days on a merge, to get the Aerosoft Airbus (A320/A321) VC and functionality, into the Thomas Ruth freeware A330-200 model. After much pain, I have got results better than I expected. The merge was done by placing the Thomas Ruth A330 model, into the Aerosoft A321 IAE aircraft configuration. This worked far better than doing things the other way around (AS VC into the TR A330 aircraft). Work was needed to reset contact points, and I also reconfigured the fuel capacity - not to exact A330 specs, as this compromized the flight model too much - but I've got a range somewhere in between an A321 and a A330-200. Similarly, using exact A330 weights and payloads was too much of a stretch, so another compromise there, but with some minor tweaking of jet thrust scaling, it's performing really well. I also tweaked the flight tuning, to make the elevator and aileron responses slower and "heavier". Lastly, there was that "A330-200" placard on the left side of the MIP, as you can see in the 2nd screenshot - completely unrealistic, but it just gives more of a sense / reminder that you're flying the A330, despite being in an A321 VC. Next up will be putting a more suitable sound pack in. I know there may be some interest in my sharing what was required to do this, but there are problems with that. Mainly just that I haven't kept a good track of all the changes made to get to the final result! But also, with regards to copyright issues regarding both authors. But I may try to write a guide on how it was done, which I may then be able to share.
  6. I've decided to merge the Sim Director, scenery and aircraft forums into the P3D General Forums. So, in the future we will have just the P3D and the Tips and Tricks Forum. I would encourage everyone to still post hardware questions in the hardware forums and any CTD's in the AVSIM CTD Forum but we will not be moving any of these topics out of the P3D Forum. Screenshots of your favorite P3D adventure, scenery, aircraft and videos will continue to be moved to the screenshot and video forums so please do not post them here. The topic tag system will be very important when creating new posts so that members can better search for the information they are seeking. We hope this will make it easier for new members (and old members) to decide the best forum to use to post their questions. Thanks for making AVSIM one of the best resources for flight simulation discussions and entertainment. We appreciate it!
