Global AI Ship Traffic FSX and P3D News and Support

Recommended Posts

Sadly i do not have a screen shot but i had a cargo ship moving sideways on its side toward the golden gate bridge. Sim time was today at 1019a local time PST. Any ideas??

edit:  I am remiss, i completely forgot as a 1st time poster to this thread. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ADDON!!! I am sorry i didnt see it until today. It's great to fly into a port area city and see shipping moving about!!!! Great work so far. Just curious about my severely listing and physics breaking cargo ship in SFO.

I too would like to say a big thankyou for this wonderful work. Not only is it work of the highest quality and detail, but it also comes with excellent documentation. Not to mention that it is offered to us freely as well!

I tend to fly based on real world routes and timetables.  Even though I have had the entire package installed for some time now, I still find it a thrill each and every time that I randomly encounter a ship sailing along a coastline or entering a port, also based on accurate routes. This project truly has enhanced my enjoyment of the sim.

Well done, great job, and thanks!

Regards,

Freddy

It looks like upload of the total package can take place this evening meaning it will be available tomorrow afternoon.

Three years after the start of this project the complete package is now available here on avsim.

Except if you have problems downloading big files you can now forget all the previous files. The new package "Global AI Ship Traffic" includes all files and corrections published in the project previous to April 2016. In total more than 600 ships and AI routes covering almost all coastal areas of the globe.

The new package is compatible with FSX and P3D at least until Version 3.2. Some files will display better in one than the other sim, but all files can be used in both.

You can find the download here: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=194715

If you have the ships installed already, but you are unsure if you have all corrections etc, you can easily update using this new package. Only small thing - please remove the folder "AI_Hyundai_Container" from your old installation before pasting the new files. The rest of the files can just be overwritten.

The package contains models, textures, and effects by Henrik Nielsen, Jean-Pierre Fillion, Erwin Welker, Knud Kristoffersen, Milton Shupe, Manfred Siedler, Bernardo Barroso, Paul Donnelly, Finn Kristoffer, Didier Puentes, Andrew Thomsen, Antonio Diaz, Sebastien Viale, Alberto Garcia, and Robystar.

Thanks you so much Henrik, this is very much appreciated and probably one of the best things to happen to FS in recent years. Although I have most of your packeges, I'll be downloading the "full" packege because I'm one of those people who likes to perform a re-install periodically. You deserve the gratitude of the entire flight sim comunity for all your work.

Thanks again,

Ian

Grayal - your problem with the cargo ship is resolved with the new package - the wave engine P3Dv3.1 and 3.2 does funny things to big ships. But I have corrected both sim.cfg and mdl files for the big ships to cope better with the odditees of the wave engine in P3D. Alternatively turn down water to High from Ultra and your problem is also solved.

While we refer to aircraft as offices, ships and boats are homes. Thanks to you and your collaborators for contributing so much to the overall environment in my P3Dv3.2.  And the documentation is fun and informative as well. Great stuff. :im Not Worthy:

Hendrik,

It's been a while since we've talked... I hope you are well my friend.

I'd like to say that you and your team's work is one of the best freeware addons for Flight Simulation, and increases realism based flight sim.

Thanks for the dedication over many long years!  I love your excellent work my friend!

Hi Dave,

All well here, even if it is a strange feeling to have sent the baby off... I even got a comment from my better half today: "Did.... Did you really finish?????" She did not seem too convinced that it could be possible...  And well, there are a few ideas for the continuation  in my head...

I always run DXTFixer it checks for errors in alpha files of textures, this is what it found in the complete package install:

DxtFixerX v2.2 - neumanix 2014
------------------------------

FIXED: C:\FSX\SimObjects\Boats\AI_FAGauthier\texture\ARR.bmp

I have fsx run with prompting me for missing textures. When loading at PHNL, these texture files are missing:

KEY_MARMARA.BMP

KEY_MARMARA_LM.BMP

There might be another ship looking for these files since the key_marmara and key_marmara_lm dds files are properly in the AI_Key_Marmara boat folder

Henrik and crew, Thank you for this brilliant nautical addition to FSX. Having spent practically all my working life around sailing yachts and ships, I'm

virtually sailing again.

Once again thanks for all the positive feedback - and the many downloads

777200lrf - Thanks for your comment on the Key_Marmara texture; When parts are copied from one model to another - a trick I use a lot to be able to do so many ships - sometimes a texture is not deleted from the list of textures associated with the model, even if it is no longer used by any parts of the model. So visual impact is zero, but you can find it "missing" with tools like DXTfixer. Potentially you could also have a tiny part or normally non-visible part like a screw blade without texture. However, as nobody ever noticed and the models which have parts from Key Marmara are more than 2 years old and downloaded around 25.000 times from the different sites where the packages are available, I will not try to go back and search for such minor things. Once you reopen a model in GMAX the risk of new problems is always there, so besides being time consuming, it is also important to evaluate the benefit of correcting compared to the hassle of installing fixes. Regards to Jean-Pierre's model of F.A. Gauthier - same thing - no benefit of correcting. I just rechecked the model in the sim, and it works absolutely fine.

Hello Henrik,

I do not want to miss you and the team to congratulate to the new complete package and the milestone of more than 600 ships and routes for Sim-seas. Without your work the simulators would be a crucial part in reality missing and they would only be half as attractive as they are today.

Thank you for all the work and all the love that you have invested in this project.

Manfred
