September 2, 200718 yr Commercial Member Sorry if some of you felt we "sensationalized" this, but I do think announcing that we've reconsidered a major policy decision (and thus giving a lot of you what you begged us for in past threads) was and is big deal. We certainly didn't tell anyone to stay up all night refreshing threads and both RSR and I stated multiple times that there would not be a product release with this announcement... September 2, 200718 yr Commercial Member >I agree. I read a post on one site where continual>announcements of upcoming product launches are one technique>employed to detract potential customers from purchasing>competitor products.Seeing as how there are no competitors in the systems-sim 747 and MD-11 markets, I'm not quite sure how that could be our goal... Certainly nothing we do can stop anyone from buying another company's product. We're all simmers ourselves and I'm very much looking forward to some of the new things coming out like the two A320's and the Level D 757. I'm a huge fan of Davide's MD-80 that appears in many of your signatures too.>There's no doubt as to the quality of PMDG products, but>personally I'm of the view the announcements by PMDG are a>commercial tactic rather than customer service. We are a business and of course one of the things we hope an announcement will do is garner market interest in the product. That doesn't mean it's the only reason we do something though - people have been asking for more information on why what we're doing has taken so long, and a large part of this was informing people as to why that is/was. We thought FSX was going to be the sim of choice by this point, we're admitting our analysis was wrong and correcting it by continuing with FS9 compatibility. September 3, 200718 yr Sensational news!! and obviously, PMDG is a company run by humans;-)And good to hear that Brian York is ready to.Golli.
September 3, 200718 yr I am genuinely happy for all fs9 users of PMDG products, but I can't help but find this decision to even think of supporting another 1 or 2 complex addons for fs9 to be absolutely astonishing. Months before release and then months(years?) of support afterward for an already 4-5 year old platform? This, from PMDG of all groups, more than anything I've seen posted anywhere, speaks volumes re fs9, fsx, and the 'hardcore' airliner market. This being a business, it must be largely a prudent business decision from PMDG's uniquely behind-the-scenes perspective. My point? - none really, not bashing a thing, just a thought.regards,Mark Regards, Mark
September 3, 200718 yr Great to hear the 737 NG2.0 will be in FS9. What this version will allow is the ability to save flights at various points, a great time saver for those of us short on time. I do have one question. Will the new version be essentially equal in terms of frame rates, or do you expect the newer technologies to impact the frames upward or downward?Curt Curt Branch
September 3, 200718 yr "Gentlemen,All this bowing and scraping to what is after all a commercial enterpise is most unseemly. May I remind you that the 744X is not out yet and the long suffering MD 11 is still months away not barring accidents. Perspective chaps, perspective. We have been here before haven't we and after all this is just another announcement not a product release."I reference this post and add that as one of the more vocal members, asking PMDG to be more communicative and responsive to their customers, I for one was thrilled at the posting. While a bit sensationalized, the fact that they were responsive enough to realize their error and develop their future (immediate) releases for FS9, is very exciting for me. I do think they are individually and collectively honorable people and I see no issue with the excitement expressed by the membership. Civility is often mis-interpreted as fawning, perhaps this is such an occasion? A bit melodramatic, yes. Substantive and important- absolutely! Now, let's all await her release- even if you do not purchase the 400X, it is a necessary step before the FS9 MD-11 release.Best-Carl F. September 3, 200718 yr I think it's great news that PMDG are going to continue to develop for FS9. A very sound business decision in my view.Personally I am looking forward to the 737 V2 for FS9.How about ditching the Airbus, the market is about to get a few of those from various other companies, and developing a 737 classic instead. Stick to Boeing, it's what you do fantastically well.CheersNialler
September 3, 200718 yr "The PMDG MD-11 will be released in FS9 and FSX compatible versions simultaneously"THANK YOU :)Regards,Mohammed
September 3, 200718 yr This is the best news I have heard for a long time.I was VERY disapointed to find that the PMDG 737 NG was not to be compatible with FS9, so much so I even tried the Ariane 737 NG (IMHO don't bother).I have a well set up FS9 which runs well with scenery and airports covering just about all Europe and the MED. The only reason to have spent hundreds of

September 3, 200718 yr Here we go again. Thanks to all the PMDG team fot the great news and for the hard work put in it so far and for the one to come. There is no doubt that ones this comes out it will be great!Great MD-11 shots too.
September 3, 200718 yr I have a whole new respect for PMDG after this decision. I will admit that I was a little angry, and didn't visit the forums hardly at all. I actually found out about this from an entirely separate forum. Anyway, I'm glad I did and I look forward to all of your upcoming releases. Sean Wood Rock Island, IL CPL-ASEL, AMEL/IR
September 3, 200718 yr I can only hope that the 737NG 2.0 will indeed come out on the FS9 platform also.My system is running FS9 like a rock with all my favourites being PMDG 747400, LevelD767, Flight1 ATR 72-500...And since framerates under FSX are terribly, unless I lower detail to a level that even my FS9 runs better I don't see any reason to update.
