October 1, 200817 yr The ability to stow it. Not using the landing gear means you have to cut out some freight, minimizing your landing weight. Money rules in aviation, so you know thats not popular.Allan Allan Burek
October 1, 200817 yr Commercial Member Got it thanks, never heard of the deflected aileron option as 'TDAS', not in my books. But yes it's there as an option and has the performance differences fully simulated.Indeed the fuel system is more complex compared to the B744. However during normal operations all that is fully automated. Some of those more complex features are: - automatic fuel transfer to a tail tank for trimming- automatic fuel temperature management with the ability to circulate fuel to raise temperature- fuel dump to MLW (where dump will stop automatically) with the press of ONE single button. So in the end the fuel system is easier to operate compared to the B744.Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
October 2, 200817 yr Hi, In regards to fuel and automation of the systems, is it possible to switch them to manual by pressing button or switch other then the system switch that does it. This is not an important question since I will eventualy find out for myself but is something that got me curious to ask when i read your post.Thank YouCapt. October 2, 200817 yr Commercial Member Eric, using the 'system manual' pushbutton is the normal way of doing so. There are certain failure scenarios where the system no longer works in automatic and it will tell you to switch to manual.Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
October 2, 200817 yr Hi, That i know ofcourse, but my question is if you hit a button on the overhead will it switch it to manual or will the button just not work. any button other then the designated button for that purpose. I could not realy figure a way to ask it to make you understand it I know that is my faultThank YouCapt. Eric Wade Joneswww.usairwaysva.orghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/1900driver.jpg Eric Wade Jones
October 2, 200817 yr Commercial Member Eric, now I understand, sorry for that but understanding your questions sometimes is not easy when you don't use any punctuation...If the system is in automatic pressing any of switches belonging to that automatic mode there will be no action. The 'manual' light will flash, indicating if you want to make that button do something you need to switch to manual first.Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
October 3, 200817 yr >>Can you randomly fail the IRS, unlike the 744 where you>have>>to just switch it off to fail it?>>Robin,>>the three IRU can fail each as part of the random failure>generator or you may trigger each to fail using a timer.>>Regards,>MarkusIs it possible that the failure simulation can be saved with the panel states? I like to fly with failures enabled, but I hardly do it with PMDG because I have to go in and select it every time. Last time they said they didn't want users to come asking for support because they "forgot" that the failures were enabled. I don't see that happening with other products and it would be nice if PMDG did this. This would be an excellent way for users to see the amazing powers of the MD11 has during failures with the automatic reconfiguration.Paul
October 3, 200817 yr Hello PMDG Team!Does your MD11 simulate a realistic ECON Speed, including the wind factor?Thank You,Holger EDDG Holger Mute
October 6, 200817 yr Hello, will the MD11 feature a really reliable Save/Load Panel State function that will allow for saving and continuing flights later? To be honest, I was not too happy with the 744(X) Save Panel State function as it had some issues and I would like to see the function improved and more reliable with the MD11.?BRChristian Adrigan
October 6, 200817 yr >Hello,>>will the MD11 feature a really reliable Save/Load Panel State>function that will allow for saving and continuing flights>later? As a follow up, does the MD-11 have failure states included with the save/load panel state function? -Lee Barberhttp://home.nc.rr.com/uniuniunium/dvasig.jpg Lee Barber - Rochester, NY PPL-G
October 7, 200817 yr Commercial Member Christian,I find the panel state saving function to be very reliable. I've used it to save flights at a gate, before departure, in cruise and before intercepting an ILS. Worked very well! I think Michael has been very careful to make this function reliable, after all this is a vital feature of the real flight simulators and absolutely necessary if you want to train certain phases of flight or scenarios.Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
October 7, 200817 yr Commercial Member >As a follow up, does the MD-11 have failure states included>with the save/load panel state function? Not yet, but I do hope this will make the way into the product at the end.Markus Markus Burkhard
October 7, 200817 yr Hello, Any chance we can get a shot of the landing lights and or taxi lights in a fog or low visibility scenario. Got to be honest I am much more rather see an update when it comes instead of actually seeing this. I just got this idea in my head figured asking to see one could not hurt, least not much if it did.Thank YouCapt.
