Hi Scott,Hmmm.. sometimes FS9 will do this in its draws to save frame rates if you system is undergoing stress. Have you tried turning down your max framerate setting and/or other detail options, to see if maybe this is what is going on?Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg

Hi all, since I have installed the MR1 update, AS2004 crashes when I import a Route and the Navlog-screen shows up. Analysing the waypoints works, but after that there is no more reaction of AS2004. It happens also when I only enter a Destination Apt and Arrival Apt. I have set my settings to normal default, and the registered version of FSUIPC to minimum weather.Hope you can help me :)Philipp

Hi Philipp,Are you trying with a normal FS04 plan?JimActiveSky Support

>Hi Mark,>>Yes, this is normal. We had to increase the write range>(meaning more stations) as well as slow down each individual>station write to further prevent wind and wx consistency>problems. Hope that helps!>>-DamianThanks, now that I know it isn't abnormal I'll try not to mind it. :) Besides, I'll see it as a fair trade off if it helps with the winds.Mark Kuebeler

My frame rates are already locked at 20. If I put them any lower the game would be unplayable, I believe.I'll try it.I have a p4 system 2.4 ghz and an Radeon Pro 9800.Scott

Hi Jim,yes I use a normal FS04 plan, it also happens when I only enter the departure and arrival airport directly into AS2004, without importing a flightplan. It didn't happen with the Alpha Update...Philipp

Hi DamianHere is my findings so far.I can eliminate cloud pop-outs by placing the supp. ceiling to above my cruising Alt. as per the FAQ.It seems that FS does not like beeing update, that is when an AS2004 update occure and you see the green bar at the top, I found by running in window mode I see AS2004 doing a write to fsuipc and FS at that time clouds pop and change drasticaly then about 10sec later the green bar scrolls ontop showing the update info. When supp. ceiling is set to higher then my cruise alt no updates takes place but the clouds change smoothly, so question, what is the use of these updates taking place when clouds still change normaly without them? Then I think I found a bug.I turned wind smoothing of with a FS04 FP loaded and prosesed in AS2004.When I reach +- 100-150nm from my destination AS2004 starts doing NON-STOP updates, that is AS2004 writes to fsuips/fs continiously and the green top bar rolls non-stop on screen , and clouds and visibility pops and change continiously non-stop.If i then turn wind smooth back on in flight this strange behaviour stops.I turned wind smooth of on the ground and prosesed FP then took of, all goes well upto 100-150nm from Des.I tried changing all other settings but nothing help, only by turning wind smooth back on while in flight stops this.Supp ceiling was above and below cruise alt. but still the same effect.Continious writes from AS2004 to fsuipc/fs.As for wind smoothing goes, with it on I am a happy camper, no problems. With wind smoothing OFF also very happy, except to the 100-150 nm des. point when these AS2004 writes starts. So all in all wind smoothing and cloud pops GREATLY improved or completely eliminated except for the above mentioned wind smoothing bug.RegardsJannier

Damian,I have flown several flights of 100 - 150 miles now all with the same results. My destination cloud cover and precipitation are not accurate. As an example, AS2004 showed the following Metar for my arrival (destination) weather:KMLU 141410Z 04010KT 2SM -RA BR BKN008 OVC019 03/03 3002As I approacehed KMLU FS9 ATIS reported as follows:winds 037 at 10, visibility 2, sky conditions CLEAR, temperature 3, dewpoint 3, altimeter 3002AS you can see the FS9 conditions were fine except for sky conditions and precipitation which were gone. There was no cloud cover or precipitation when I landed.I have tried disabling wind smoothing, raising the no updates level to well above my flight level, etc., all to no avail.Dynamic weather is off in FS9 and my framerates are near what I have them set at in FS9 as well.

Supression ceiling is mostly for take-off and landing situations. AS will use your Update Interval no matter what your other settings. Updates take place to refresh all weather stations. Try increasing UpdateInterval and see what happens.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Is Force Destination wx Zone on or off?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Sorry about that. I'm sure Damian was so busy it just slipped by. He'll be sure to see this as a reminder.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Jim,I've tried it with Force Destination ON and OFF. Can't seem to get accurate sky cover at destination.

OK how about Global weather setting?JimActiveSky Support

I loaded the Beta MR1 two days ago and have just departed on my 4th Flight.Apart from some very low climb rates after about 27,000 using VNAV (737NG) I have not experienced significant wind shifts on daparture and only the occasional shift at altitude. Even the miserable weather in Christchurch remained miserable all through the approach earlier today. However, on departing a few moments ago the aircraft (under VNAV) inexplicably pitched up to a climb rate of 8000 ft per min and airspeed decayed rapidly to 250kts before crashing to 170kts. Good luck rather than good management saved the day with autothrottle kicking in and restoring airspeed quickly.Any thoughts?Andy b
