Hi Jim,Think this item would fit better in another thread.I'm using Radeon 9700PRO and ATI 4.2 drivers.Been rather busy since my first post.Reinstalled FS9 completely and started with installing Ultimate Traffic, PDMG aircraft and AS2004 1.0.Everything worked O.K.Then installed some addon scenery (LAGO Venice, Budapest and Honolulu. Then problems began. Deleted only Lago's active scenery from scenery library. Things worked again. Then installed some Fly Tampa sceneries. Again there where problems.Deleted Fly Tampa sceneries problems stayed. So I stopped adding anything for now.Have not added any mesh, landclass and other sceneries yet.The problem is as follows:Starting FS9 at any airport (default and addon, different seasons) gives no problems.I can switch from full screen to windowed and run other programs simultaniously without any problems.I can start AS2004 before FS9 and have it running without any problems as long as I don't access AS2004 afterwards. As soon as I start AS2004 while FS9 is running I cannnot turn back to full screen as FS9 crashes (even after update is ready). The crash leaves the FS9 window vissible with sound but flickering mouse cursor with hour glass. When I click on the FS9 window the dotted outline of the AS2004 window activates an can be moved arround but the original AS2004 window stays put behind the FS9 window. While moving around with the mouse in the end the fatal error window appears. Conclusion: problems start as soon as I click on the AS2004 window with FS9 running in windowed mode (unpaused).Hope you have some tips.Haromo

Hi,I did a flight pretty similar as Jannier's one today: EBBR - LOWW with 737 PMDG, with wind smoothing ON and FP loaded. The route was: M078F370 SOPOK UY863 ETENO Y863 RUDUS UL984 ESATI UL603 TEGBA UL605 EGG UM749 FRE FRE4WFrom ESATI to Beginning of Descent I logged encoutred winds aloft and OAT and compared then with the predicted log issued by AS2004:Leg to * Predicted log (by AS2004) * Real conditions encoutered within FSDINKU * 036@45kt, OAT -50.1

Hi all,AS2004 noob here (got it yesterday). Installed the "production version", 1.0, using WideFS and FSUIPC 3.2 (registered). Using with Radar Contact 3, and PMDG's 737.I'm using all the defaults because I'm still trying to figure out which way North is.Installed the remote radar on the FS9 box, got a flight plan created by FSNav KDEN to KPHX loaded, everything working great, not much going on around KDEN last night (this is all real time). Life is good. If only my mind worked fast enough to keep up with the RC controller, life would be even better :)Enter the AS2004 beta. Installed with no problems over the old, run the the remote radar installer, everything seems ok. Start up, works fine, I can't tell much of a difference in loading weather, start up the same flight as before, again, life is good. Then I crank up the active radar detail to "very high". FS window goes blank except for the ActiveRadar window, hdd cycles a few times and FS9 crashes (CTD).Restart FS9 (this involves shutting down the remote PC, reloading, etc... , clearing weather in FSUIPC, all is good, radarwindow now runing at "high" (can't tell, not a whole lot of precipitation).Start flying, at the first update (default is 10 minutes), another CTD, same symptoms. This time, the AS2004 on the wideFS PC) is very much hung.I haven't tried without Radar Contact running on wideFS, but will try tonight.I did go through the FAQ and followed all the instructions, and I don't think I missed any of the obvious, but I will re-read just in case. Any ideas?

While having the FS2004 cloud draw distance at max did resolve an issue I was having with inaccurate weather at some airports along and near my route, I have confirmed this setting DOES NOT resolve the issue of clouds disappearing after AS2004 updates.

It's me again :-)Think I am currently having a temperature 'bug'.Currently en-route KRNO-KLAS FL300-330. At FL300 TAT is showing in cockpit as +8, AS is showing -20 at this FL.i admit I don't really know the relationship between TAT and what AS shows but at this time of year at this latitude +8 TAT seems wrong. At least it's not -273 :-) and the winds look OK.Rgds

UPDATE;Installed MR1 but problem stayed.Went back to FSUIPC 3.14 and deleted the FSUIPC.ini file.Things worked for one session but at the second session I had the former problems. One thing I notice is with FS9 in windowed mode and moving aircraft placing the mouse cursor over the AS2004 taskbar button makes FS9 stutter extremely bad.Moving away from the button restores the original framerates. Can move back to FS9 full mode without problems after this as long as I don't activate the AS2004 window. What is going on here?It takes me a full day to reinstall my complete FS9 configuration so I'm not to keen on starting over and over again.Strange that I seem to be the only person having these troubles.Hope a solution is on it's way.Haromo

Vulcan,I believe this is correct. The temperature listed in the AS status box is the OAT, or outside air temperature - this is basically the temp you would read if you had a thermometer and were standing still at that altitude. The TAT shown in the cockpit is Total Air Temperature. This is usually considerably higher than the OAT and represents the temperature experienced on the skin of the airplane (or thereabouts). It is higher than the OAT because the friction of the air passing over the plane at speed causes a localised heating effect...Hope this helpsSimon.

Haromo,Please notice that your problems begin when you started adding scenery, and not when you ran AS without adding scenery. To me that would tell me where the problem lies.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi Zip,Welcome to Active Sky! Turn down your Active Radar details again and see what happens. Also, your system specs will come in handy!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

I did some further tests on the subject and found out that I only had the "correct" TATs over central europe because I forogt to load a flight plan. The high temps seem to be directly connected to the enroute wind smoothing.Temps in the AS2004 main look right until a flight plan is processed with wind smoothing enabled, as soon as the processing is complete, they jump up by up to 20

Hi again Jim.I have now done a whole lot of testing. Have tried every combination of settings I could think of in AS, and the clouds still dissapear randomly in flight. What I did find was that if I sit on the ground updates are fine and clouds change as they should. Even though its funny to watch the cloud formations change every 10 minutes.Take off and circle the airfield for a while to let AS do some updates and it seem to be ok, no cloud changes as it should be since I'm within 100nm from the station. If I start flying to other stations the clouds start dissapearing again on updates. Its as if they are removed within the 100nm suppression range. The weird thing is that this is not consistent, but completely random from what Ive been able to find out.Been flying for 3 hours as I type this and only way I get clouds at my location during flight is to disable suppression. But then that makes the pressure, temp and clouds change fast and its not always a good thing :)Using normal default and adding online updates as my default, but no setting I make other than suppression change make any difference. Also using unregistered FSUIPC 3.2 if that makes any difference.Really hope things get better because right now its pretty useless for me. In my opinion the program was never ready for release because its not working as it should be. Feels like I payed to be a beta tester :( The program is fantastic if it works so don't think I'm angry or anything. Just stating my view on the whole thing.Anyway...I'll be using default FS untill all the problems get sorted out. Hope it wont take to long though since I've come to love the cloud generation of AS2004 :)JT

Hi Jim,Thank's for the reply.Activated my original standard scenery.cfg with no addons but the problem remained. In my opinion it has to do with the linking of AS2004 to FS9.As I mentioned before the problem also appears at default airports. Is there a specific WindowsXP service needed for AS2004?I have lots of services disabled. Realy hope this anoying problem can be fixed.Regards,Haromo

Look what you wrote here:"I'm using Radeon 9700PRO and ATI 4.2 drivers.Been rather busy since my first post.Reinstalled FS9 completely and started with installing Ultimate Traffic, PDMG aircraft and AS2004 1.0.Everything worked O.K.Then installed some addon scenery (LAGO Venice, Budapest and Honolulu. Any idea what component used in addon scenery might be causing a problem with AS?I suppose that more AS users have addon sceneries installed.Haromo
