Wilco/FT - Possible copyright issue?

Dillon so you think it's an inside guy starting all this crap, interesting...

Former inside guy to be more specific (he only has 8 post to his credit, normally a new person wouldn't start this kind of mess or even know where to look). With all these Airbuses coming out this is one of two things. FeelThere stopped dealing with a few people on this project and this is someone's idea of revenge (how ever valid the issue may be) or the competition is playing hardball (which I highly doubt the latter). The product isn't even out yet or should I say officially from FeelThere. I could see something like this being spotted weeks after the product was on the market but for someone to come out days later operating off of screenshots alone without the actual product is highly suspicious...

>Shihan FeelThere stopped dealing with a few people not that>long ago. Only an inside person would have been able to spot>something like this without the product actually being out. No, I disagree. When I was developing the overhead panel for the Tinmouse II, a well-meaning person sent me some shots of the B732 OHP...it took me less than 15 minutes to ID a couple of them on Airliners.net. Needless to say, they didn't get used.Regardless of the motivations of the guy that first posted this, there is no doubt in my mind that the airliners.net photo was plunked into this panel. For the record, I like FeelThere as a developer. I enjoy the Legacy and ERJ. But there's a problem with this bitmap. How FT deals with this will say a lot about who they are or who they are not. I, for one, am watching.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

I just find it strange that, so soon after release you discovered this. Also that your first post on Avsim is this one. Also to the fact that most people here sign their names on their posts. And you did contact the author, so really the issue is between the author and Wilco, none of us have any business in this. So I feel your just here to try and stir **** . If they did use that pic, fine Wilco will answer to author, good for you for pointing it out, but I really feel your trying to turn this into a witch hunt and you may think that you

I don't know about any inside job, but the actual screenshots of the panel have been up on the Wilco site for weeks now.Anyone could have been curious and do a search for OO-TCK ( the registration shown right on the panel shots ) to see how good of a job they did at recreating it. It's really not rocket science.I think you guys are reading way too much into it. Thousands of people look at products screenshots and do some research ( albeit, maybe not EXACTLY like this, but in general they do ).Again, my $0.02.

Bob you fail to realize we've been doing this in this community for quite some time. Ask Fly Tampa, Flight Zone, and others have they contacted every vender of every piece of equipment they reproduced in their sceneries. What about the companies that made the tugs, the designers of the airport terminals, Coca Cola, etc. Ask Georender did they ask permission to reproduce the various airports they've done in the Seattle area. The only valid airport Georender could take claim to is Emma Field. Everything else is open to litigation.Captainsim and many other payware developers are reproducing copywrited logos of official airlines and making money off of it. You open the lid on this kind of thing and all #### will break loose. Our hobby will become that much more expensive.

Don't kid yourselves guys. There are unscrupulous folks who do plant their trolls around from time to time for the express purpose of denigrating XYZ company/XYZ projects or to call attention to their own latest/greatest company/project.While we were made aware of these tactics by some in the past, we are certainly not accusing anyone of anything in the present or in this thread.Only pointing out the fact that such things do happen in this community and it is unfortunate that flightsimmers are subjected to such tactics:-)

"Thousands of people look at products screenshots and do some research"Yea but to come away with something like this and be new to this community is too coincidental. Jeff if you came up with this I couldn't go here because you've been around but this is too suspicious.Jeff read Chris's post here, he makes some good points. If your going to get on this type of bandwagon you shouldn't like 90% of what's coming out these days. Do you think every livery, Airport, Tug, and Goodyear tire has been sought out for permission before it's likeness has been reproduced in FS, 'NO IT HASN'T'. Everytime you see a company release liveries with real world counterparts they can be brought to court and made to give a portion of their profits to the owner. Nailing someone to the cross for this opens the door to much more than you realize.

Ron I have more of an inside track on this one. I just hope we find out who this guy really is... Thanks for the confirmation on this tactic as others can't see the underlying issue that could be at play here.

whilst I really have no concern that this picture was used (although I hope it was not used legally) it is about time hat the rogue developers where found out. Probably over two years ago now Victor told us all, that their new database was the future, it seems that it is one of the few not supported on Navdata, ALL the BIG names are supported. The support is locked, the download speeds suck, the navdata is very incomplete for Europe, the whole thing is a shambles.I read somewere about the bubble bursting on all the crap developers, maybe this will be one of them. And Scoob, you are too loyal to Feelthere, I woud back off befo you have egg on your face, bring on the professionals.Garry

"For the record, I like FeelThere as a developer. I enjoy the Legacy and ERJ. But there's a problem with this bitmap. How FT deals with this will say a lot about who they are or who they are not. I, for one, am watching."Then you need to take PSS, Fly Tampa, Cloud9, Flight Zone, and everyone else to task on this issue. It does say allot about who we are, 'Aviation Enthusiast'... I'm not excusing FeelThere or anyone else but be it a bitmap, reproduction of a copywrited design, or a location that terrorist could use to hurt people, it's all open to the right lawyer who wants to take the case for financial gain. Believe me if this community started making major money we WILL have to ask everyone for everything. Airbus is just now starting to let us model their aircraft in FS and that's much more serious than some guy with a camera. Point is Bob 'Watch' everyone and start a revolution if you want to. But understand taking everyone to task on this issue will have serious consequences down the road for our hobby...

Holy Cow...Papa Tango!!...Haven't heard the brewhaha from that one in awhile...Can't believe there are still folks around that remember that. You are right...people are still afraid to put AA logos on stuff because of that.Cheers,Scott

From the Feelthere.com forum Admin, regarding DL troubles with the A320."First of all please don't start a new thread for it. We will delete it and the member who start the topic will be banned from this forum."Lovely.

Because people over there like here are starting crap. I'd say the same thing at this point... :-boom Let FeelThere fight it out with Wilco and get things back on track.

Moderating a forum and keeping order is one thing. Saying you will ban paying customers for complaining about poor service is, shall we say, lacking in business tact at best.It could have been handled better than that.
