November 30, 200817 yr As I, along with many, many others AWAIT the REX release, this question comes to mind: Will most simmers who have FEX delete it to install REX? Even though good frame rate promises are made by the developers, I don't necessarily believe them. I do know that with GEX, FEX, and UTX on my system, there are frame rate comprimises. When I deactivate UTX, my frames go UP immediately. So, I believe that the new REX may be able to replace FEX. What do you all think?Stanps. I know the REX cannot replace SEX....see, I do have a sense of humor after all.

November 30, 200817 yr I've uninstalled FEX in preparation for REX.I can always re-install it if I want to combine any features of both add-ons.Also bear in mind you'll need around 9.0Gb of free space on the drive you'll be installing REX to. November 30, 200817 yr Commercial Member Folks there really is NO need to uninstall anything in order to install REX.It's not a requirement. I just want to make that clear.Regards,Tim Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
November 30, 200817 yr I'm going to assume that REX will give you the option to make a backup of your "default" FSX textures with the user interface. If so, then use the FEX interface to RESTORE your default FSX textures first. Otherwise, you would be backing up the FEX textures. That's the plan I'm gonna use. FalconAFEDIT: Disregard. My post crossed with Tim's above. Rick Ryan

December 1, 200817 yr If so, then use the FEX interface to RESTORE your default FSX textures first. Otherwise, you would be backing up the FEX textures.Same holds true for HiFi's XGraphics textures. Restore the initial backup prior to installing REX if you want it to backup the original files.Regards, Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
December 1, 200817 yr Moderator Same holds true for HiFi's XGraphics textures. Restore the initial backup prior to installing REX if you want it to backup the original files.Regards,Well, for me, I have both FEX and Xgraphics installed and set up the way I like. Replacing the default FSX before installing REX seems counterproductive to me. If I don't like REX, I would want to go back to what I liked, which was a combo of FEX and XG. So, that's what I plan on backing up. Frankly, I can't really see a scenario where I'd want original FSX textures. If it was ABSOLUTELY necessary, I'd reeinstall.Finished the download too late to install last night so I won't get a chance until this evening. It will give me some time to see what problems people are facing during install/use.Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
December 4, 200817 yr All these _EXs are making my head spin :( I have ASX installed. Does that program not have cloud textures that would be redundant in FEX and/or REX ? and GEX and XGraphics and UTX have ground textures that would be redundant in those programs ? I have all _EXs except FEX or REX. Would it make better "visuals" or eye candy to have either of these programs ?Thanks -Dave Hinson David Hinson
