Asa And Oom Errors

Featured Replies

Hello,You can add me to the list of OOM errors with ASA & FSX (WinXP). Just tried the same flight twice, once with ASX, and once with ASA. Both were long (KJFK-RJAA), and both had Radar Contact & FS Commander running. The ASX flight completed just fine. The ASA flight received a OOM error after about 45-50 minutes. I can't do a flight over 45-50 mins with ASA, and not get an Out of Memory error.Hopefully they will work this one out soon. ThanksBill

Hey Bill-See my post under 'Important Notice'. I've got the same problem but tested it with stock weather generator giving the same results as you for the most part.Mark

Hi all,Long time ActiveSky fan here. No doubt with a new program with as much potential as this, there's bound to be some teething troubles. I had ASA turn to worms this morning. I'm not sure if this error is related to what everyone else is getting, but the one advantage of Vista is that it (IMO) keeps a better log of what went wrong than XP did.---------------------------------------------------------ProductASAProblemStopped workingDate30/12/2008 11:52 AMStatusReport SentDescriptionStopped workingProblem signatureProblem Event Name: CLR20r3Problem Signature 01: asa_exec.exeProblem Signature 02: 11.0.0.316Problem Signature 03: 494fcea1Problem Signature 04: ASAProblem Signature 05: 11.0.0.316Problem Signature 06: 494fce9fProblem Signature 07: 4bProblem Signature 08: 0Problem Signature 09: System.OverflowExceptionOS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3Locale ID: 3081Extra information about the problemBucket ID: 418928853--------------------------------------------------Greetings from Down Under!AdrianSydney, Australia

OOM problem for this user as well. Happened as others describe, roughly an hour into the flight.

I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.

Add me to the list.I finally decided to run ASA tonight, even though I was/am having trouble connecting to FSX when I start ASA first. So, I started ASA after FSX. The weather looked great BTW.....but, about an hour into my flight, I too, had an OOM error.I'm running XP w/4 GB Ram utilizing the 3GB switch. 8800GT w/512I have not had a memory error for a long long time, and never since installing the 4 GB of memory.I have also never had this happen with ASX.

I too just got the OOM error. Never happened before, until I installed ASA.Intel Quad Q6600nVidia 8800GTX 768MB4GB RAM1 TB HDDWindows Vista Home PremiumFSX AccelerationMichel LegeinFlorida USA

Add me to the list as well. Three time a OOM after 60 minutes of flying with ASA,I am running FSX and SP2. First time in my FSX life I got a OMM.

To me it is also the first time that I get constant CTDs during flights. It occurs after 15 to 30 minutes. I can also confirm that ASA uses more than 100 mb of physical memory, even 120 to 130, old ASV6.5 never used more than 40 mb if I remember correctly.

I haven't gotten any OOM's, but on 2+hour flights (In this case Tampa to Boston), I'm finding scenery load stutters much more and longer than I ever had, Some textures like liveries not loading at all, and according to the task manager the system is using much more page space than it usually does. Tried this flight multiple times same result. I flew the same flight again with ASX and no problems at all. I'm using FSX SP1, on WinXP set with the /3GB switch and /userva=2560 with FSX.exe setup to use it. Hopefully what Hifi support has found fixes the problem, as as good as ASX is, ASA effects takes the sim to the next level!! The turbulence effect is the best I felt in any sim.

Thanks

Tom

hey, I recently bought ASA and started using it. I've never had an OOM issue until i installed ASA. Dont know what's happening...I have Vista 32 with 4GB RAM and Radeon 4870 HD with 512 MB RAM. FSX runs without any problems if ASA is not running. Guys at HIFI Sim, it is HIGH TIME this message becomes a priority as the majority of users are experiencing this problem. Please address a fix for this soon. Thanks.Ashwath.

Please read the whole post rather than jumping in at the end and telling us what we must do, if you'd done this you would know that HIFI do know there is a problem and they have been working on it since just after Christmas, so please be patient.

Cheers, Andy.

They already stated it's their #1 priority, can't do better than that, other than confirming, your experiencing the problem too, and maybe adding some technical info that may help them like under what circumstances the problem occurs, what settings both within FSX and system, there is no need to emphasize the point any further.

Thanks

Hi,i have the same problem with ASA and FS9, CTD with a black FS9 screen, then the message "MSFS has detected a problem and have to be closed..."

Hi,We've been on it for awhile and it does not effect a majority of users. In fact I can't even reproduce it on my measly 1 GB machine! However, we do know it is an issue are are working on getting it resolved. Thanks,
