Hi vonmar.Try to go in Windows, create a Subdirectory and move All, except the "ArialBlack.fft" to the new Subdirectory, and start FS9, then go back and restore the Fonts and repeat.Ignore Notepad for now. What do you get when you 2xLClick on the ArialBlack.fft ? TV

Mark,Thanks for the information.I made a copy of the instructions.Naturally, I have not attempted it yet ... we will see!Note:When I was in the US Navy we stopped in Hobart.Great place! The girls were like 3 girls for every guy!!!One great gal took me home for a wonderful home cooked meal.Everyone is super friendly in you corner of the world. After I win the lottery I'm on my way back for a visit.
Yeah, Hobart is pretty nice. It's so clean. Ever eaten at the Admiral's...it's close to the harbor. You do know that I'm American though...was born in Seattle when my dad was in the navy...Bremerton Navel Base near KPWT, in fact. I've got a place in Santa Monica (KSMO), but my wife is Aussie and we like to mix it up a bit. Live state side some years, OZ in others. It's nice down under as I see that you've discovered! Now, did you see that post about possible changing your arial font, or actually, reinstalling it? Did you want to give it a go? Here's the way to do it from MS in case your not sure....http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314960Mark

Mark,Could not answer last night ... early to bed it was..You said:Now, did you see that post about possible changing your arial font, or actually, reinstalling it? Did you want to give it a go? Here's the way to do it from MS in case your not sure....So,"did you see that post about possible changing your arial font, or actually, reinstalling it?"** Yes, but I do not know where to get it from and it has not been reinstalled on my system."Did you want to give it a go?"** Yes"Here's the way to do it from MS in case your not sure...."** I have seen that before. On my system I have never done that. I have only copied (drag and drop) them form like the ** Windows\Fonts folder to the FS9 fonts folder ...** Is it ok to do that?** I assumed what I did yas ok because I would, like .. use the Notepad program to check the font afterwards....................................Other personal note:"Yeah, Hobart is pretty nice. It's so clean. Ever eaten at the Admiral's...it's close to the harbor. "** No, maybe on my next visit."You do know that I'm American though...was born in Seattle when my dad was in the navy...Bremerton Navel Base near KPWT,"** I was Navy based KSAN, PHNL (got my PPL SEL there)." in fact. I've got a place in Santa Monica (KSMO)"** I lived KSAN (Santee, CA) ... ** I do virtual flights into KSMO ... nice on foggy mornings!", but my wife is Aussie and we like to mix it up a bit. Live state side some years, OZ in others. It's nice down under as I see that you've discovered!"** You lucky guy!

It's a little bit of work, although, pretty straight forward to reinstall your original CD fonts but the couple extra steps are worth it. You'll have a folder with all of the original Windows fonts that you can stash away somewhere in case this happens again.1) Make a folder named "Original Windows Fonts" on your desktop2) Put your original Windows XP cd in the drive. (Take note of the cd drive's letter..."D", maybe "E" etc...)Now, there is a folder on the original Windows CDRom which contains all of the original fonts Windows installed on your system. It's name is "i386". The fonts are currently in a compressed format so we need to expand them using the Window's "Expand" command. We're going to expand them to the "Original Windows Fonts" folder on your desktop.3) Edit the 2 lines below and replace the CDRom with your CDRom drive letter and the "Your User Name" with your user name.expand -r CDRom:\i386\*.TT_ "C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Desktop\Original Windows Fonts"expand -r CDRom:\i386\*.FO_ "C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Desktop\Original Windows Fonts" After you've edit the lines, we're going to run them one at a time. These 2 commands will expand all of the original fonts to the "Original Windows Fonts" folder on your desktop. Oh, make sure you keep all the quotes in the 2 command lines. 4) Copy the first command line that you edited 5) Click on the Start Menu 6) Click on the "Run..." icon which is just to the right of the "All Programs" icon 7) The "Run" dialog should appear with a place for you to type 8) Now paste the first command that you copied into the "Run" dialog and presss enter.9) Check your "Original Windows Fonts" desktop folder and you should see 132 files..about 15.3mb10) Repeat steps 4 thru 9 with the second command and you should have 304 files...about 19.9mbYou should now have a folder with all of the original fonts that Windows installed! You might want to keep a copy of them so it's really easy to reinstall all of the fonts if this were to happen again. So, do you want to keep a copy of all of the old fonts? It's up to you...The next step is to replace all of the current Windows fonts with the ones that you just expanded to your "Original Windows Fonts" folder on your desktop.1 ) Open the Control Panel and then the Fonts folder 2) From the Fonts folder File menu, select Install New Font3) Browse to the "Original Windows Fonts" folder on your desktop(Give Windows a minute to load all of the Fonts into the dialog)4) Select the "Select All" button(This should highlight all of the fonts)5) Select the Copy Fonts To Fonts Folder check box. 6) Click on the "OK" button7) Take a flight and post the resultsMark

Hi,I see others have fixed this, but here is a little more:I also happen to know that the WindowsXP SP3 update causes the Arial Black (Bold?) font to become italic. I saw that in Paint Shop Pro as well. It's described here and many other places:http://www.technologyquestions.com/technol...ed-italics.htmlThe suggested cure in this post is:If Arial (and possibly other system fonts) will only show in italicsafter installing XP SP3, it is because SP3 replaced them with a newerversion. Go into the /Windows/$NTServicePackUninstall$ folder to find theolder versions and replace them. Here is another link:http://icrontic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71801And their suggestion:Create a restore point (not 100% necessary, but never hurts either)Go to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder and delete the Arial Black file. (ariblk.ttf ver. 2.40)Now go to C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$ and find ariblk.ttf (ver 2.35) copy it and paste it into the C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder.I did this and my fonts in PSP were back to normal.Hope this helps,

After 12 years of flying Flight Sims I might get the answer to a certain question. On the above picture of the Garmin 500 GPS shows the flight plan from KSNA to KAJO. At the bottom of the gauge , the last entry that you can see is: KTOA. You can tell by looking at the gauge that there are MORE waypoints listed but they are BELOW the visable portion of the GAUGE. How can you SCROOL down and see the remaining waypoints ???????? Thanks jerrycwo4
