Hi, Glad the site is up again! My question is to anyone that has 757 Captain (from caption Sim?) thats on PC Aviator? How do you like it? Also does it run well in FSX? I have Capt Sims C-130 from Just Flight and it works good on my machine. Thanks for any input,Greg
It still has a few bugs, but I would say its worth the money.Check the CS pilots lounge (support) after you purchase for some user fixes.Eventually, I believe this bird will be a winner.Ron :(

The CS 757 is a really good plane. It has been updated to 4.3 I believe, so it has fixed a lot of problems. CS usually really good sales so it pays to be patient and wait till one of those comes on. That is what I did and it was worth it. The only CS problem I have is that I can't find a descent American repaint. There was a very nice repaint here at the Avsim library but it seems to have been removed from the library and I can not find it on any other site. Oh well I might just have to pick up the McPhat version when it is released.

With the new 4.3 update, the Captain Sim 757 is absolutely awesome. I mean first rate. All of the bad bugs like the VORs not working and loading flightplans direct from FSX into the FMC causing the program to crash, have all been fixed.Be careful when you are buying though, because I don't know if the 4.3 update is available for the boxed versions yet and I'm not sure when it will be.Before you buy the boxed version, be sure that the 4.3 update is available for it. You cannot buy the boxed version, then go to Captain Sim's website and install the update. You will have to wait until Captain Sim releases it to the vendor. If you get the 757 from the Captain Sim website, you will be sure to have the 4.3 update and that really makes the whole aircraft complete with very few minor exceptions. Right now I wouldn't want to even have this 757 without the latest update.Although, one thing you will find is that with the new update, the aircraft will tend to yaw badly when reaching landing speeds, even with flaps and gear down. It acts like it is going to stall, even above Vref speed.Someone on the Captain Sim forums showed that this can easily be fixed by making some small changes to the aircraft.cfg file.I tried that and it works perfectly now. Also, I noticed that, for me, using TrackIR, the eyepoint in the VC cockpit was too high. I felt like I was seven feet tall. I was able to also correct this by a small change to the aircraft.cfg file. The only thing that I am seeing wrong now is the two buttons that switch the lower EICAS. Although all of the EICAS pages work, only the right (Status) button works and it won't allow you to blank the DU. It's not really a problem, but someone may come up with a fix for this before too long.Captain Sim's 757 is definately a "must have" now. I expect to be putting a lot of hours on it.Bob

I still have lots of problems with it. The 4.3 update cured some things for me and added some more. These are some of the problems I am having since 4.3 that I didn't have before it. I can modify some legs of an approach in the FMC and everything seems fine, but once I'm flying the approach, all the legs get deleted. This only happens with some legs, others can be modified and I can fly the approach normally. Occasionally the plane banks very shallow, like it's forced to 5% angle even though the bank angle switch is on 25 or auto. FMC won't calculate proper STAR speed restrictions. Autobrakes won't work now, did before. Never the less, I still enjoy flying it, I never know when something is going to work or not so it's challenging to deal with the problems.

It is very nice and on sale now.I just posted a very long review in the Readers Review section if you want to read up.If you're confident you're computer is up to the challenge, it is a good purchase. I don't think it would do well on older systems.

I've got version 4.3 and really love this plane now.Very realistic flying behavior and the best graphics I've seen in a PC simulator so far. Some are still having AP issues with the new version, I may be lucky but I don't, this bird is really awesome.

There is a post about this in their forums, it appears it has to do with approaches in the FMC that arent in the FSX database.

You'll get some people arguing for it, some against. Unfortunately it crashes FSX whenever I try to load it up, so I've never even flown the thing despite having bought it.Some people say it is great, but since I cannot get the thing to even load up, I don't really know if that is trueAl

Al, is this the 4.3 version for FSX? Maybe it's a conflict with your weather radar ;-) I couldn't get a CTD if my life depended on it with this add-on. Are you using Vista? Whenever I have had something crash on select like that it has turned out to be a Vista gremlin. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a computer whiz, so other than the usual reinstall bit I don't know what to say. Pity, because I think you would like this one a lot.

There is a demo available to try also, nice plane, shame I spent most of my allowance on other add-on's such as UT2 :). I'm caught between the 727 and 757, but even with the discount I get from being a previous owner of the 727 'express line' the 757 is still ten euro's cheaper.

Yup, it is the 4.3 version for FSX, a fairly recent purchase. But it just won't have it at all. That's on XP with SP3, not Vista, never tried to install it on my Vista laptop, but may get around to it at some point.Al

I'd say it comes down to whether you are good at navigating using radio nav aids, then :-)

Oh yes, not lol. Radar Contact gives me enough direction so I can input headings until I get a nice ILS lock onto the runway and with the Addictive Trident for example its a simple step to switch on the autoland (I don't believe the 727 had this). I suppose I don't have anything that uses any FMC yet...And the 757 is more full featured than the 727 is at this time and also I'm sure with the sale and the upgrade price is enough yet.Matt
